Realistic life on Tin Cans

Review Date: 2004-10-27
When first reading this work of fiction I was unable to invision a WWII era navy is such a way. After reading all the glorification books I figured this was simply an inaccurate telling of life at sea during WWII. After talking to living tin canners, i can say with all certainty that the portail of life on this boat is as real as it gets.

Although the plot was lacking, the changing from fiction to nonfiction through out the book helped to show this was more of a fictional retelling of life at sea during the 40's and 50's. The interjections of Edward Hart's life story gives the book a very real feeling and sense of historical accuracy.

Dispite the "fictional" aspect of the story could have been done better, the real life telling of the world on a tin can more than makes up for it. The length also allows for a quicker read than a world war II novel or a memorior of a man from who served his country.

All in all a short read worth the time and money.

This is a well-crafted story inspiring those of us who must work through the obstacles life has placed in our own paths. Character development is superb for a quick read of less than 200 pages. "Blind Faith" is a feel good story based in the reality of disappointment.

Georgiana Davis was prepared to seduce the one man she's lusted after for twenty years. She trained to be a sexpot and a right fine one too. Julian Manchester, a member of the band Blue Silver is her target. Georgie missed out seeing him all those years ago by some freak accident of fate. The limo they were in broke down and Georgie and the girls missed their chance to be near the band.

Now, hearing about their comeback tour, Georgie has dieted and taken lessons for the last six months getting ready to see the man who's occupied her mind. Julian Manchester wasn't going to know what hit him. Georgie was ready. She just wanted one night with him. But could fate step in again where Julian and Georgie are concerned?

Nothing Like the Sun is another great story in the Blue Silver series. Megan Hart weaves a tale of premeditated seduction and you can't help but hope it all works out for Georgie. I loved Julian and his vulnerabilities. These two hot people make a great pair and their story is well worth reading over and over again.

A must have for everyone that has or is considering a website!!

I took this book for review because I wanted to learn more about eMarketing. Little did I know that I was going to get a book that would blow me away!

"Blueprints for Success - eMarketing" is concise, educational, and proven. What more could one ask for? The footwork has been done; all we have to do is follow the steps provided by Hart and Daoust.

The first chapter of the book covers websites, the most important front door to any business. The authors claim that "there are five steps that drive sales and relationships offline and online." They are: drive traffic (to the website via advertising, marketing, communication); capture leads (landing page registration); acquisition (acquire new customers); retention (lifetime value of customer); and, referral (satisfied customers find referrals.) This basically is the road to success in the internet world. Besides the internet road map, the authors suggest going beyond the "brand," have a long-term plan, and have opt-in forms and landing pages. Landing pages must provide an opportunity for the visitor to do something - register for a webinar, buy a demo or product, subscribe to a newsletter, or give contact information. Hart and Daoust also stress the importance to keywords. There is much more than this in the first chapter and it does end with a checklist.

Chapter two continues talking about websites. The first question the authors entertain is: What's the single most important thing that could improve the web? Their answer: better writing. Most people think it is broadband, however, according to Hart and Daoust, writing has the major impact of what people thing of you - your product, your service. But most importantly what you can do for them. They say ever to start a heading or a sentence with the company name but to address the need to the target reader.

There is more! This 255 page book is not one that you can read in one sitting. Actually, it's not a book to be read, but one to be used as a resource and each step implemented into your existing or intended business. If the reader has a website already, this book is even more important to pursue because more than likely if the website is "home made" it is not effective. Furthermore, after going through "Blueprints for Success - eMarketing," I am more aware of what is wrong with many websites and why the businesses are struggling, not getting hits, or the rankings are low. Also, I am taking the time and implementing suggestions that I have not considered into my own business. Do I recommend this book? Yes! Definitely!! The reader will be truly elated with all the knowledge they can get from this investment. The return on the investment could easily be documented.

Let the Mexican's live the American dream

I support Mexican's crossing the U.S. border they just want to live a better life. They need to cross it and enter the country free cause their whole life they had it rough and we American's need to show pity for them instead of acting spoiled. It's just like the Mexican president said "the latino's will do more work in American then the African Americna's can even dream of".

American don't have to worry about terrorist crossing the border cause their way over in the middleeast over sea's nad we have navy ship that can spot something unsual swimming in the ocean.

I would rate this book a low five or a high four. The reason is that the drawers are big and cluttery and sometimes the fonts they use are big and cluttery and that makes it hard for me to concentrate on the page and read the activity. Having said that though- this is an excellent book.

The ideas are easy to impliment, usually using around the house supplies. Some of them are messy and some of them are not. There is a wide range of activities that will appeal to a wide range of youngsters, cooking, music, mobiles, bugs and more are included in here.

The books says it is directed towards 6- 12 years old. I'd say this is about right. However, some of the activities would be too simple for six year olds and might work well in a kindergarten classroom.

Enjoy

A combo of Dark Seduction and spirited female moxy. I picked this up in trade with family and decided to give it a whirl due to the blurb on the cover... This is from the book cover:

BRAND OF PASSION. Long, lean, and mean, he stepped out of the windy Chicago night, reappearing as suddenly as he'd vanished months before. Cat Morgan was stunned, torn between loathing and love. Only Logan Blake had the kind of money she so desperately needed that she would give almost anything---short of body and soul--to get. Cat had no choice but to accept his offer, to go to Wyoming and "work" on his ranch. She would never forget his searing kisses---or the cruel words that had shattered her dreams of love. Even as his jet-black eyes sought to possess her, she would remember that she had struck a cold bargain with the devil and sworn to see the devil get his due!

Fresh Perspectives on a Complicated Subject
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2001-07-26
This is an absolutely first-rate collection of 20 separate but inter-related essays in which their authors explain how and why brands are "the new wealth creators." They were edited by Hart and Murphy who co-authored a brief Foreword in which they correctly suggest that brands "are now centre stage: they drive major mergers, and acquisitions; they appear frequently in the balance sheets of their owners; they have vexed legislators involved in updating archaic trademark law; their application now extends to organisations who a few years ago would never have considered themselves as `brands' (charities, utilities, sport's associations, cities, etc.); and they have changed irrevocably the way in which major companies organise and run their businesses." It remains for each reader to determine which essays are of greatest interest and potential value. My personal favorites are Murphy's "What Is Branding" which provides a basic but precise introductory briefing on the subject. He concludes by noting that branding is a creative process. "It uses research techniques and the skills of a number of specialists. But in the end it is about creating distinctness -- in a consumer-relevant fashion." I also admire Fogg's analysis of "Brands as Intellectual Property." (Those who share have a special interest in this subject are urged to check out Lessig's Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace.) Carratu's essay follows, probing even further into "Commercial Counterfeiting" which is, he concludes, "a profitable and growing activity that poses a serious threat to manufacturers of branded products. It is frequently very well funded and organised and is prevalent throughout the world....[Fortunately], brand owners are becoming more vigilant, but the battle has yet to be won." Tragos has much of value to say about "International Branding" as do Andrew about "Brand Revitalisation and Extension" and Hart about "The Future for Brands." For executive-level managers who are either directly or indirectly involved with marketing (in general) and branding (in particular), this really is a "must read."

BOOK ONE: FOR 3 MAIL-ORDER BRIDES

Review Date: 2004-01-11
deLacey Honeycutt is the daughter of the infamous "King" Honeycutt, gambler extraordinaire.

She figures that with the tricks of the trade taught to her by her father she should be able to build a stakes to start a new life.

Ah, but she tries to take on the wealthy rancher, Joss McRae, who is a bit of a gambler himself.

When she makes off with his ten thousand dollars he isn't about to let her get away. You will love the chase.

He forces her to honor her contract of mail-order bride to Silas Abrams, his neighbor and enemy.

deLacey decides that Silas is innocent of all the cattle rustling going on and will prove it to Joss. She has stumbled onto the culprit.

Without any premeditation Joss cuckolds Silas and reaps the results. [chuckle, chuckle]

Excellenty written and strong enough to keep the attention throughout the whole book. Wonderful characters, although I find most of these women a bit silly,

Look for Book Two the follow-up SWEPT AWAY by Jean Anne Caldwell.
Highly Recommended - enjoyable read.
