A doorway to an ancient world

George Hart and Hank Heifetz transport us in time to a fascinating ancient Tamil world of honor and valor. As a Tamil who knows Modern Tamil, but does not understand Classical Tamil too well, reading the translation and then going back to the originals helped me gain better insight and understanding of the originals. Wish the originals were printed alongside the translation!!

The finest poetical skills tempered by exacting scholarship!

Hart & Heifetz again prove that you don't have to be a dried up, passionless writer to generate fine scholarship. The translations are flawless, retaining all the grace, passion, and subtle flavor of the originals. Poetry has never been so beautiful or so bloody. A haunting loveliness combined with a window the steals an uncompromising glance at the capriciousness and creativety of a forgotten age. If your heart can bare such a relentless look into South India's forgotten past, you must read this book. An excellent source for hardened scholars, armchair Indologists, and poets alike.

I loved this book. It demonstrated for me the real "art" of gardening. William Morris was a clever and far sighted man who advocated staying within the parameters of nature and natural beauty when making gardens. He also perpetuated the "garden room" theme which has been enormously popular since the eighteeth century. I refer to this book continuously and strive to design and construct garden rooms in my own garden which are as beautiful.

I loved this book. Being one of the earlier books in the Garfield collection Jim Davis had many fresh ideas to work with. You may be surprized that Garfield looks slightly different , but the attitude stays the same. If you want to see Garfield very different, see fat cat 3-pack number one. If you love Garfield, This is a must have.

This book features: Mondays, The caped Avenger, The fence, Nermal, Odie, and of course Garfields sick addiction to food .

Enjoy!

If you liked this one I reccomend Fat Cat 3 pack: 4, 5, and 7.

Not that they werent funny but i noticed that on Jim davis's first books he was kind of new to drawing Gar field so he improved a lot on the humor. I love this book from the cover all the way to the last page good job Jim.5 stars outa 5!!!!!!!

I loved this book! It is one of those books that I couldn't stop reading until I finished it. It is fast paced and catapults the reader from one palm sweating scene into another without pausing to let you catch your breath. A definite keeper for my suspense book shelf.

I got this book on a whim, just because I love the Betsy-Tacy books, and figured that since those are autobiographical, then this would be what "Betsy" would have written. It is a good book- it tells the story of a misguided but sweet young man from England who jouneys to America to make a new life for himself. He encounters two extremely gothic characters who give the book an interesting twist, and has a passionate love affair. Through all his mishaps and passions, he finally discovers himself- and happiness- in a transported world of foxhunts, balls, and estates that must soon conform to new customs or perish. If you like the Betsy books, you will probably like this- it is an adult book, but still captures the youthful spirit and vibrance of the Betsy series. Lovelace writes with heart, taking the reader into her world.

First of all, this is a beautiful book. The 200 plus photographs of glass tile works of art in kitchen, bathroom, and flooring are alone worth more than the price of the book, even if you have no plan to install glass tile. But you will be inspired to consider it. Add to that the informative and perspicuous exposition, the creative and imaginative sensibility, and the developed professional design judgment of Katharine Kaye McMillan, and you have a work of excellence.

Extreme inspiration

Pat McMillan has done a great job of showing in her book -- probably in unprecedented manner -- different applications of the great variety of glass tiles currently on the market. Inspirational, indeed!
