Highly Recommand Accounting Ace 911Review Date: 2003-07-01
Highly Recommand Accounting Ace 911Review Date: 2003-07-01
Accounting Ace 911 was a very good review. The moment I started reading this book, I could hardly pull myself away from it. It made the basic concepts in accounting very clear in an easy-to-understand manner. This is a great study book for starters who want to get some basic accounting training.
Also, English is a second language for me, and this book was easy to read, but not over-simplified. This is one the things I liked the most.

Accounting Ace 911 Volumes 1 and 2: Good for What Ails YouReview Date: 2003-02-28
The Accounting Ace books are big but not scary. They are big because in addition to content, the books include case studies, exercises with answers, and reviews of basic math. The books also use large fonts and lots of white space (great for making notes!).
The books are well-organized, using learning objectives as a roadmap. The table of contents (TOC) and index are too thin for me, but this problem is alleviated by detailed TOCs at the front of major sections, and scanning that is made easier by "sign-post" headings in the left margin. It also helps that the content is thorough enough that my questions are answered as soon as or shortly after I think of them.
Though the primary target audience for the books appears to be college students, anyone who needs a "leg up" on basic accounting will find Accounting Ace 911 is helpful. The style and tone are friendly, not at all academic, and even humorous at times (there are cartoons at unexpected moments, just when you need a grin). For me, the books make it easier to learn about the ugly, painful subject of accounting.

A Must Read!Review Date: 2008-01-15
Rather than simply being a book of one person's opinion, this book uses several examples about Greys and consciousness through history, with all works cited, going into great detail about the Jivatma, as the Grey is called in the East through many religions, including Hinduism.
Anatomy of The Human Grey Body takes an interesting and unique look at the extraterrestrial beings people claim to have seen, that are typically referred to as Greys. As well, the book takes a brief look at some of the anomalies witnessed by people around the world. Whether the greys are actually a separate being, or an extension of our selves in some way, is discussed throughout the book, as well as further discussion into whether we actually create the images in our own minds and then transpose them onto photographs.
While the author is discussing other possible answers to many of the questions that plague many of us today, he is careful not to completely discard some of the possibilities that already exist. This book is simply another's personal speculation and debate on what some of these anomalies might be, based on his views and on the historical beliefs of different people in the eastern hemisphere. The book talks about how western belief tends to focus more on what it might be in terms of extraterrestrials, while eastern belief tends to focus more on what it might be in relation to the self and how these two different views have come about.
Greys could be any number of things; it depends on the individual and their beliefs that determine their view of what Greys really are. Anatomy of The Human Grey Body simply gives another view of what Greys could really be.
The book is short and concise, yet it does not short change the reader on any topic, delving into detail on easy topics like the existence of extraterrestrials and hard ones, like multidimensional planes.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in knowing more about the world around them and have always wanted to pick up that curtain of reality that separates us from what we perceive and what truly exists.
A great read!

Spinal Anatomy Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi (ISBN: 0971999600)
This study guide will definitely give you an edge on tests and prepare first year chiropractic students to know the type of questions to be ready for. If you want to pass spinal anatomy without stress and get good grades, both books are a must buy. My study group and I used both books and we all passed spinal anatomy class with at least a B in our chiropractic school.
High quality anatomy textReview Date: 2005-07-22
Now I am preparing to enter my private outpatient practice and decided to pick up the 2nd edition of this text to use as a reference. I was thoroughly impressed with the new edition. The new edition offers many advantages over any other book that I have seen in the anatomical description of the spine, and the clinical application of this knowledge. I was particularly impressed with the presentation of the latest research related to the spine, the brilliant new illustrations, high resolution CT and MR images, and the new material related to the ANS (and its role in pain), intervertebral disc degeneration, and the pediatric spine. Although it isn't new, I also appreciate the red-lined sections that mark the clinically relevant information (which I think will be very helpful in the next few years as a quick review in practice).
For those who already own the first edition, I would highly recommend updating to this edition simply based on the wealth of new information that science has revealed concerning the spine and nervous system. For those who haven't experienced this book, I would recommend it for its dual use as a basic science reference and as a clinical science review. I think this book holds tremendous value for both students and practitioners (DCs, DOs, MDs, PTs, etc) that work with the spine and nervous system.

Truly an amazing bookReview Date: 2008-07-15
I saw a couple of pictures in Beneath the Roses and had to own it. I have never spent longer on a picture book, savoring four or five pictures for several days before moving on to the next batch. Readers (readers?) in the northeast will find themselves going "I know that street!". I have no idea why I found the pictures so fascinating but I surely did. I kept staring at them wondering "What is going on here?" and never figuring it out. Find this book. Look at two pictures. If you like them - buy the book! By the way, the production is great. Heavy paper and no centerfold breaks in the pictures.
Some Amazing Exterior WorkReview Date: 2008-04-22
More interesting is the theme of isolation that runs through these photos. Even in the shots where more than one person is present, each seems trapped inside their own space. Raised to an even higher degree in some of the wide exteriors, you end up searching out the individual who is nearly swallowed up by the rest of the picture. Perhaps it is that very searching quality required by some of the photographs that makes them the most moving of the group.
When I first received this book, I wasn't sure if I would like it. I was first put off by the unwieldiness of its size--bigger than a normal volume and wider than it is high. As I looked through the photographs and grew to like many of them, I realized the importance of the book's size and shape--to take advantage of the movie aspect ratio Crewdson uses as well as the need for as much space as possible in his wide, detailed exterior shots.
In fact, I went to see a gallery presentation of some of the photographs in this volume. The prints hanging on the wall were large, perhaps six feet or more wide, which I thought did much better justice to Crewdson's work. I found this experience to be of great benefit. When I came home and looked through the book again, I was moved to look even more closely at some of the pictures, seeking out that isolation and detail.
Still, as I said, I think Crewdson's work is uneven. The exteriors, for the most part, greatly outdo the interiors and there is a tendency towards a garishness I don't like in some of his work. However, when he hits the right notes, his landscapes are as beautiful and interesting as anything I've seen.
DO NOT BUY FINE ART BOOKS FROM AMAZON!!Review Date: 2008-04-21
DO NOT BUY FINE ART BOOKS FROM AMAZON!!
One of Crewdson's best booksReview Date: 2008-04-01
In his other books, people have complained that the images were not large enough. This book has larger images. The book contains 49 plates, which measure about 14.5" x 9.5"
The book also has photographs and sketches of a lot of the work that went into the final photographs, such as set design, lighting, props, and more.
Some of the photos in this book are also in the book "1985-2005", but they are larger in this book.
The book still doesn't come close to capturing how breathtaking his full-size 4' x 5' photographs are, but it does a better job than any of his other books. It would make a great addition to any photography book collection.
Small towns, large fantasiesReview Date: 2008-04-02
Crewdson provides you with forty-nine content rich photos, you have to provide everything else and that is not difficult because the people and situations before your eyes pull you into their lives. What is she thinking, is she speaking to him, what is he doing, why are they together? I thought the small town setting ideal for these tableaux, the streets, houses and people seem to fit together and allow the viewer to focus on the characters. Maybe the plates should have been loose in a box making it easier for the viewer to create an ever changing scenario according to their sequence.
I was rather disappointed though with part of the book's production. The photos, thankfully suitable larger than those in Twilight, are only printed in 175dpi. These images are saturated with detail and texture and I would have thought a minimum of 200 or preferably 250dpi would be necessary to bring out their quality. So many of them have a long depth of field but also feature some small detail or frozen action that is important: a person in a car, the items on a bedside table or people seen through the window of a motel room.
Like Twilight the back of this book has chapters on Location and Soundstage, both have production shots (unfortunately not captioned) and drawings to show the amazing amount of work that goes into these photos. A look at the Production Credits also confirms this (and reinforces the movie connection) with Lighting, Best Boys, Gaffers, Key Grip, Special Effects, Prop Masters, Wardrobe, Transportation, Hair and Make-up, Casting, Catering, Legal and more. Oh yes, let's not forget Swamp Design by Buzz Gray, too.
Overall a remarkable book but if you are new to his work have a look at Gregory Crewdson which includes twenty plates from Beneath the Roses.

Gregory Peck's voice is perfectReview Date: 1999-08-27
An Exquisite ReadingReview Date: 2006-01-12
No matter how many times one has read the Bible, hearing it in an audio version adds a new dimension to the text, whether one just listens, or reads along with it. There is a new layer of understanding that comes with hearing the entire Scripture that brings a fresh insight into certain passages. I have read several translations, and though some are very illuminating (I am partial to the Amplified Bible), I find none quite have the power and beauty of the King James Version.
Oscar winner Peck (1916-2003) recorded all 22 hours of this New Testament in 1984, in a log cabin that was a part of his property in Los Angeles that he used as a retreat and office. Produced by his son Stephen, it was a project that Peck, who said that his faith was "an anchor to windward" throughout his life, found very rewarding to complete.

Amazing resource...Review Date: 2006-12-10
The primer begins with a good-natured and insightful perspective on starting your own game company, winds its way through the trials of day-to-day business operations and ends up with some shared experiences from those who have "made it" in the world of video game development, including the co-founders of GameLab. In between, well-researched and easy-to-understand legal advice is dispensed on a wide range of pertinent topics, including intellecual property law, contract law, taxation and even the current state of law in virtual worlds.
In short, this primer is an affirmatively *enjoyable* read--a rarity among legal primers, as I can unfortunately attest--and a must-read for would-be developers and anyone else who wants to really understand the ins and outs of video game development. I plan on recommending it not only to my clients but to anyone who is even remotely interested in learning more about the gaming industry.

Great Background InformationReview Date: 2007-01-18
This book really has two sections. First is about starting a company. This is on all the general business parts like creating a legal business entity, renting an office, hiring staff, product and market analysis, raising capital, etc.
But then comes the second part that is specific to the gaming industry, especially the intellectual property that you are creating as you define characters, the art aspects of how the game looks, and the contracts you will need to have in place with your developers or with a game distribution company if you use them.
There's another aspect that could fit under either of these two as they are not standard for most businesses but not restricted to games either, this includes selling internationally, paying international taxes and so on.
Basically, as the title of this book says, it's a 'Primer,' that is, a general introduction that will enable you to know what you're talking about but not enough to consider yourself an attorney.

They demonstrate a variety of interesting, if not necessarily the most innovative techniques. Examples abound, including finding the right consultants, costs, hardware, software, and utilizing websites for maximum advantage. In this, Connecting Online is none too dissimilar to Michael Levine's Guerrilla PR: Wired, which also covers using the Internet as the means to attain public relations objectives.
Drawing upon their experiences in both the Web and in the public relations industry, Sherwin and Avila provide several valuable pieces of advice. What makes this text even further stand out is the style in which it is written. Deft uses of humor in the technical explanations assure that even those with a layman's grasp of the terminology and technology will have little difficulty in understanding, grasping, and using Sherwin's and Avila's methods and advice.

A harrowing history of a maritime Dante's InfernoReview Date: 2001-08-13
"Death on the Hellships" is a veritable Dante's Inferno at sea, the tragedies chronicled month by month. Michno's research into previously classified records and with survivor first-hand accounts far surpasses that of anyone who has touched upon this topic before, and he deserves great credit for rescuing this important story before it was lost forever in the fog of the past. It is not a tale for the faint-hearted. Although the subject covers too broad a time and geographical area to permit in-depth narratives of every prison ship voyage, Michno does provide a wealth of survivor stories illustrating the experiences of these unfortunate men and women. Anyone who reads the history of this tragic episode of modern war will not soon forget it.
