This book was daring and creative to read because of it's intriguing storyline. It seemed like she really had amneza. I was hoping she would come out of it. Read it and see what happens!

Review Date: 2001-11-19
Tucker Maddock just wants to spend a quiet holiday season tucked away in a place that holds fond memories of happier times...what he ends up with is bedlam! Mistaken as "Cousin" Tucker by the loud, boisterous Marsh family, Tucker's quiet Christmas becomes a thing of the past...and possibly his lonely heart as well.

Ruth Marsh is suspicious of the stranger who drops into the midst of the family holiday. But soon she's feeling is something else entirely...it's something as warm as the holiday and as lasting. It's....Love?

Carolyn Greene's Her Mistletoe Man is the perfect way to spend a holiday afternoon. Sweet and funny, it will warm you through-and-through, no matter how cold the winter weather is!

I loved this series as a kid. I read the Hardy Boys, but these are much better. If you liked The Three Investigators books, these will be to your liking. All 6 are tremendous.

How were Vietnam Veterans treated after coming home from the war?

This is an excellent book, and its too bad that its out of print. The author was a newspaper columnist, who column one day mentioned that some Vietnam Veterans were spit on or treated badly upon coming home from Nam. He got so much mail that he asked his readers to submit stories. Later, he and friends in the military sorted through the stories to filter out the obvious fakes, etc. Afterwards, he took a few hundred stories, one or two pages long, and categorized them in to 3 categories. Vets who claimed to have been spit on, usually at the air terminals where they disembarked from Nam. Veterans who were treated very, very well by civilians who were grateful for their service. And the largest category seemed to be veterans who got negative responses for their service in Vietnam.

invaluable window into the past

This is a poignant story, a window into the world of a "Negro boy" growing up in the White college town of Williamstown in the 1920's and 30's. What I like most about the book is that it is from such a personal point of view. Oscar Greene's vivid memories of his boyhood bring us back with him to that time. As he encounters life, we witness his inner reactions to the events that affected him. This engages the reader and conveys more about what life was like back then than could be described otherwise. I highly recommend this book.

Great book for understanding basic horse learning

Although this book was written in the late 70's, it covers the basics of how horses learn in an indepth and informative narrative. The writing style is not academic, even when reviewing scientific research and there are many illustrations and examples used to explain the information. A great book for the beginning horse person who wants to have a fundamental knowledge of how to approach teaching a horse basic manuvers as well as avoiding mistakes which can teach a horse bad behaviors. Dr. Godfrey has also contributed to the Chicken Soup for the Horse Lovers Soul series.Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul II: Tales of Passion, Achievement and Devotion (Chicken Soup for the Soul)

This book is wonderfully creative. Mary Vigliante Szydlowski has a very vivid imagination to create creatures as entertaining as the farbles. They are cute, lovable, and friendly. This book offers lessons on hygiene, cleanliness, and responsibility. It teaches children to care for and appreciate the environment around them. Books that teach and offer so much are rare to come by. I recommend this book to all ages. The farbles are great fun!

Funny and real
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-12-28
First introduced in "A Girl Called Al," this sequel picks up with 13-year-old Al's latest crisis -- her father, whom she hasn't seen in eight years -- suddenly pops into Al's life to tell her he's getting remarried. Worse yet, she'll have three new stepbrothers!

Her best friend, the book's narrator (who is never named) is always there to lend her support...or to make some mistakes with her.

Like the other "Al" books, this one manages to be funny and real throughout. Adolescent readers will enjoy the adventures of Al and her friend, because they're just regular girls they'd feel like they could be friends with, too...
