This new cookbook embodies not only family favorites but new and innovative recipes. It is beautifully illustrated by famous local artists and is a pleasure to the palate and the eye.

PS. In your description of the book, you listed Margaret Grey as the author. She is the artist, not the author. Also, it is a hard back not a paperback.

This reprint of the 1819 Treatise is excellent for a glimpse into the earliest technological changes in spinning during the beginning of the Industrial revolution. It is a book of plans and instructions for plans. Some of the illustrations are smaller than I would like. This just shows the differences in expectations between the early nineteenth century and the twenty-first century. The book is for historians who like to work with primary source material not for someone who wants an easy read on the history of spinning.

Superbly illustrated in a soft, impressionist art style

The Tree is a wonderful children's picturebook about an elm tree that has stood within New York City for more than 250 years. It was a sapling during the city's early settlement, and it survived plague, fire, and war. It lasted longer than many a great building constructed nearby, including the first two Madison Square Gardens. Superbly illustrated in a soft, impressionist art style, The Tree celebrates American history as well as reverence for nature. Highly recommended.

Ancient Knowledge for Modern Times!

This book is a gift from both the author and the ancients! There has never been a more compelling time than the present for people to examine their world and themselves. In my experience, Tri Aur has opened up a whole new dimension in my life and I am eternally grateful.

I have read both Beyond Reiki: The Art of Tri Aur and this workbook Tri Aur, The Language of the Ascended Masters. In my opinion, this is the book you want to purchase if you want to quickly understand the history of Tri Aur and begin to apply it immediately. It is clear and concise in format and you can simply flip to handy quick reference pages to find step-by-step instructions on one page. There are also plenty of pictures to assist you in your practice.

It is as if Sand D is there, guiding you with her warmth and wit. Though nothing is an acceptable substitute for experiencing Sand D in person, and you definitely should if you have the opportunity, it is a close second if you want to get your practice off to a quick start. Everything that you need is here, completed and delivered to you with Love from Sand D.

Fundamental critique of liberal fundamentalism

Gray has done everyone a great service by skewering the rights based liberal philosophy of thinkers like John Rawls. Though it seems that Gray (like most Anglo-Saxons) is unaware of the Continental critique (think Habermas), he still does a good job of making some readers aware of the Enlightenment project that seems to grip too many people. Luc Ferry does a better job of this in my mind because he nods to the critiques and tries to move towards a solution. Unfortunately it may be that Americans find his Frenchness offensive. In that case Gray's work here has opened the possibility of moving beyond the dialectic of enlightment (sorry Frankfurt School)and towards one of "modus vivendi". It also doesn't share the faults that his earlier book, "False Dawn" had, an overweening attempt to criticize without ever coming to some sort of solution.

INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE AT ALL TIMES- NEVER BORING
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.

Most books on U boat warfare cover the Second World War exclusively, so I was happy to read Gray's history of the action in the first one. The book is a thriller from start to finish and is never boring at any point. It begins with a brief description of the first submarines and then jumps to the action of 1914-18. We learn about the many sinkings of Allied merchant and naval craft and of the U boats themselves. Gray traces the evolution of the conflict well and gives the reader a feeling for what must have been in the minds of the combatants as events became increasingly desperate.

I would encourage anyone interested in naval issues to read this book. Only those wishing to know the details on every sinking of the war will be at all dissapointed.

Very Interesting Biography

Ultimate Sacrifice is a quick and interesting read on the military career of a Union Civil War colonel. As the biography of William Gray Murray, the book has a nice pace, easy prose, and covers a lot of ground. Mr. Gainer does a very good job of capturing the trials and tribulations of an immigrant turned soldier in the 1800's United States, right down to the bullet which took Murray's life. The book also works as a survey of the life of a 19th century American soldier. One has to wonder how many other Col. Murrays there were serving on both sides of the War Between the States. This book provides a glimpse into the men who were surely the heart and soul of the American and Confederate armies.

The Unadulterated Cat: A Campaign for Real Cats

How real is your cat?
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 1997-12-05

Tired of those books where you finally get around to calculate that your cat has an IQ of just above 160 and that he could get paid more than you should he decide to take a job?

Terry Pratchett is one of the funniest author ever and this is no usual 'rate-your-cat' book. Anyone who likes cats but who is not really keen on answering questions like "If your cat could choose to read any of the following newspapers, which would it be?", will be happy to read this. It doesn't try to be clever like some other books may try, but you can see through it all that Terry Pratchett has had his share of feline company.

While most other books 'rating' any kind of animals are not really meant to be read as a whole ( tedious explanations before and after in order to understand the ratings, numbers, calculations etc really prevent that ) this book is just funny and entertaining all the way through. Of course, there is _some_ kind of rating process, but the book was more written, I would think, to unite cat lovers in recognizing the most annoying and delightful traits of our furry friends. Something he did with his usual witty sometimes nearly sarcastic sense of humour.
