The Women of Faith series of books have been a joy in my life. This particular study on prayer has NOT been a disappointment. Although set up as a guide for group study, I have found it very effective in my personal devotions.

Each study has six sections: A Moment for Quiet Reflection, Knowing God's Heart, Friendship Boosters, Just for Fun, Praying Together and Making it Real in Your Own Life. Through this process you get into the scripture, meditate on it, apply it to your life and find joy in it.

"Growing in Prayer" focuses on six different types of pray-ers---from the most reluctant pray-er to the most generous to the oddest and most expensive. These examples are easy to relate to and make Bible Study a joy.

If you run, or are thinking of starting, your own business this book is a must read. It's one of the few books that I actually recommend to my coaching clients because the information is timeless and applicable to both online and offline businesses. I've personally used many of the techniques I learned in this book and have seen a significant increase in my company's profitability.

This book is clear, concise, and easy to follow. Ms. Grayson has demonstrated experience in obtaining grants and using this book will increase your success rate. It has for me!!!

As the title indicates, this book is an excellent guide to language testing. Henning makes great efforts to explain technical testing terms in very plain language. He covers almost all important aspects in testing, especially reliability and validity. His analysis is clear, detailed and thorough. Where computation is involved, a general introduction of the formula is followed by specific examples, which readers can understand without trouble.

Chapter 4¡ªItem Analysis: Item Uniqueness is very helpful, especially 4.1 Avoiding Problems at the Item-Writing Stage, which, in fact, can serve as a checklist for those who write or edit test items.

Henning gives a summary at the end of each chapter, which not only makes his structure very clear, but also helps readers recapture what they have read in the chapter and get prepared for the following one.

Henning creates some exercises for each chapter. Giving exercises is nothing rare in many testing books. However, what is uncommon here is that Henning offers reference answers to those questions, which are of great use to readers. What I have found equally nice are tables and glossary in the appendices.

It is no exaggeration to say that this is the best introductory testing book. I strongly recommend it to EFL/ESL teachers, test designers, language researchers and students.

The subtitle is "A Dictionary of Classical Place Names", and that's exactly what this book is. Let's face it, we all don't know exactly where the heck Halicarnassus was, let alone what other cities or empires were its neighbors (SE Asia Minor, interdicting the sea route to Cos, in case you're wondering). Entries range from Abdera to Zeugma, each with a concise history describing its significance, along with several pages of maps and cross-indexed names. This makes it extremely useful for a student or as a companion to a general interest reader. Naturally, any history book requires a focus, and this one is the Classical World of Greece, Roman and the Etruscans. I found it especially useful for looking up the Roman names of modern European cities. Highly recommended.

Michael Grant's very useful "Guide to the Ancient World" makes reading ancient historians much easier. Tacitus and Livy, may their pages never fade, throw around ancient placenames as if they were living there. Of course they were, but for those of us who may not have ancient Rome's neighbors plotted on our consciousnesses, MG's dictionary is a great help. Alternate renderings, modern equivalents, and a brief explanation of the place's relevance to the ancient world make this book indispensible. The maps by Lili Wronker are small but still quite well done. Place names from the first millennium BCE to the 5th century CE cover the Graeco-Roman world.

I bought the second edition a number of years ago to use as a resource. It has proved to be very valuable on more than one occasion. I highly recommend it.

I am a board certified gastroenterologist and internist. I purchased this book 9 years ago to help me with the first of many lectures I have given on irritable bowel syndrome. Unlike many other books and articles I obtained for the same lecture, I have retained, re-read and recommended this book above all others. Thinking it was out of print, I recently loaned it to a patient who found it a wonderful, thoughtful, straightforward reference that explained a lot of her symptoms and really made a difference in her life. There is a LOT of literature regarding functional bowel disorders available to the lay-person but this one has just the right mix of science and practicality to warrant my highest recommendation.

If you are trying to fund raise for a non profit organization like a mosque, synagogue or church the lessons in this book may be very applicable.

In summary the book explains how to set up a fund raising board, what sacrifices the leaders of the fund raisers need to make to stay involved and a variety of successful strategies depending on the audience you're working against.

The one liner: "Do I raise a million dollars from one person or a dollar from a million people?"

This book has been desperately needed for quite some time. Dr. Kaslow and her collaborators have demonstrated that, indeed, there is a need for understanding the global differences and many times the not-so-subtle cultural factors one must attend to as a family business advisor.
This book will be a tremendous resource for all who do family business consulting. It should be on the bookshelf of any family business advisor interested in the larger issues which impact not only the advisor but the families and their businesses.
I very highly recommend this book.
