An "easy to find" format with great samples and forms. Includes a wealth of valuable information for writing letters, memos, resumes, performance reviews, procedures, minutes, alerts, field notes, newsletters, technical & scientific reports as well as a great English language glossary, etc.

I appreciate all that this book has taught me about abuse. Its best part though is teaching how to overcome and intervene.

I love this book because it shows the diversity of Sudan - not just famine, war and poverty (of which there is plenty in Sudan) but the richness of the culture of this vast country. I have shared it with local communities in Sydney, Australia, where we have lots of people from Sudan and it shows people where these Sudanese are coming from and why they are here.

Highly recommended.

This Signet Regency is described on the cover as "a proper young lady and a lordly rake fight to keep from falling in love." An elderly and beloved stepmother tries matchmaking between her cynical stepson and her sheltered, but confident granddaughter. To do so, she sends him and her 30ish unmarried daughter on a fake errand of dissuading the granddaughter from an unsuitable match. The two protagonists suspect that they're being manipulated but cannot help their mutual attraction. The principal characters are intelligent and witty and the plot is for the most part believable. The secondary characters also possess charm. There's not a lot of sex (the copyright is 1980!), but what sweet romance and clever repartee there is in its place!

Easy to read overview of the field of supercomputing. Describes technologies (eg, relays to highly integrated circuits) and architectures (eg, scalar to vector, multiprocessor and massively parallel) used to effect supercomputing. Describes applications of supercomputing in physics, in constructing evolutionary trees from sequencing data, in molecular biology, engineering, planetary sciences, weather forecasting, and cosmology.

The authors have created an introduction to logic that can be used as a textbook in a logic course but is also filled with enough puzzles, paradoxes, quizzes and ideas to interest any general reader. My only quibble is the somewhat HIGH price (which is probably out of the authors' control.

This report is available for free online. A research institute in the San Francisco Bay Area produced it. Its a great report on the tactical use of nuclear weapons in Vietnam that concludes that going nuclear would be about the worst idea the US military could come up with. I don't know why this company is seeking to make money off a free report, particularly given that it represents someone else's hard work, but you should look for the free copy online if this title interests you.

As soon as I got a kayak this summer, I bought both this book and the "Take a Paddle" for western New York. This region is a great place to put a little boat in the water--with lakes of all sizes, from little kettleholes to the Great Lakes, plus streams, and rivers, and the Erie canal. It really helps to have a guide to tell you where you can put in and take out, the difficulty of a route, how to get there and where to park.
These books are well designed and easy to use. I've tried out several routes and found the information very useful. Can hardly wait to get out and try more paddles next spring.

I purchased this book in the late 60's. It is great fun to re-read the stories. A great book for fun reading pleasure.

Taxation and Confiscation is yet another great Freeman Classic for your political economy bookshelf. It features a selection of essays by various luminaries addressing various facets of economic issues surrounding taxation, government fiscal policy, deficit spending and the regulatory state. Among the distinguished contributors are: economist Hanns F. Sennholz; historian Clarence Carson; political writer and theologian Gary North. Carson offers a witty tract on how the "power to tax is the power to destroy." North tackles the issue of school vouchers. Robert Higgs and John Hood offer two insightful essays that elaborate why the culmination of public sector growth (federal, state and local) has long outstripped real economic growth and is putting a burdensome strain on the nation's economic health. Eric Brodin tackles the myth of the Swedish Welfare State and the "third way between capitalism and socialism" myth. Other essays deal with issues such as confiscatory taxation caused by 'double taxation', tax equity, the middle-class tax-squeeze and how various public policies have stifled capital formation. It is a must for the free-market apologist. Though, if you don't already own any books from the Foundation from Economic Education than I recommend you at least get the book 'Cliches of Politics' first.
