This book does not teach you how to "do" statistics, which would mean doing a lot of mathematical manipulations and handling formulas and checking tables, etc. Rather, this book is about what needs to be understood to use statistics effectively, what statistics is about. Come to think of it, this makes a lot of sense, because today, we have lots of aids to do the manipulations for us. We don't really need to know the formula for computing stadard deviation, when Excel can do it for us, with a few clicks of the mouse.

The book reads sequentially. Each chapter assumes the reader has a firm grasp of the preceding ones. So, if you do not have the time to read a book sequentially, this book is probably not for you. This book does not assume that you'll already have known something about statistics. It starts more or less from scratch. It is consistent all along focussing only on the whats and the why's of statistics, rather the painful and tedious how's.

I'm frequently quoted in this book, so have an interest in it
having been well done. John has done a fine job in giving explanations
that will appeal to readers from outside our community
and that should serve as a model for writers in
our field. He conveys technical information easily and makes
it interesting -- but I'm an easy sell. I have found about
6 mistakes in the text, but they are mostly trivial.

This book has all formats of questions to go with the chapters of the Biochemistry 5th edition. In contrast to the similar book with Albert's cell biology - this one is complete with all answered and expained. For the GRE (Biochemistry, Biology and USMLE) tester the book is GOLDEN!!!! They have plenty of out favorite multichoice questions at a correct detail to where you can learn the information at a deep level to do very well on the exams. I would test myself before and after I read a chapter and found that very helpful in studying the material. This book is more than worth the money.

I have read 1st and 2nd edition, it's really very good! You can learn many pieces of new information,technology and concept from this book. I have finished my master biochemistry degree but I still keep reading this book. Trust me, you will be a biochemical expert if you studied this book well!!!

This solutions manual is among the most clearly written and enjoyable I've ever used. Crisp simplified formatting makes even the complicated solution approaches pleasant to read with a minimum of excess steps and all the appropriate diagrams and drawings as needed. Just simply a perfect solutions manual to compliment the equally enjoyable text.

This guide will guide you to find out which subject or fact that you should know or learn step by step. Just following this study guide as you read the text, you will be able to sort through the tons of information the jewel of biology.

An "easy to find" format with great samples and forms. Includes a wealth of valuable information for writing letters, memos, resumes, performance reviews, procedures, minutes, alerts, field notes, newsletters, technical & scientific reports as well as a great English language glossary, etc.

I appreciate all that this book has taught me about abuse. Its best part though is teaching how to overcome and intervene.

I love this book because it shows the diversity of Sudan - not just famine, war and poverty (of which there is plenty in Sudan) but the richness of the culture of this vast country. I have shared it with local communities in Sydney, Australia, where we have lots of people from Sudan and it shows people where these Sudanese are coming from and why they are here.
