A Clear criique of the World3 and World2 models

This book is the best critique of the World3 and World2 models that appear in the books Limits to Growth and Beyond the Limits. The review in the book stems from a detailed understanding of the model and what Meadows etc actually said. They find flaws in several key aspects of the model. If you wish to evaluate the world3 model, after Dynamics of Growth in a Finite world, this should be your next read. The authors do make some errors, but they allowed Meadows etc to write a rebutal that is included in the book, so you can decide for yourself who to believe.

The book is especially good to understand the mechanisms of Cell Biology. The beauty of the book is that it does not look at Cell Biology purely from the aspect of a cell and it's organelles but goes a step further to give a clear picture of how cell organelles and their components function in a cell and how it is impossible to study the cell without it's amalgamation with molecular biology. The chapters on DNA replication and RNA transcription are very lucid. Signal transduction is also very comprehensively explored. The book has kept abreast with latest studies and makes it an especially useful text for 1st year Masters/Ph.D students

These models and their extensive, sumptuous curves will keep students and professors captivated. They are very helpful in visualizing the many different conformations of organic compounds, and help students understand isomerism on a personal level.

"Mom's Everything Book for Daughters: Practical Ideas for a Quality Relationship" is sure to be a classic on how to develop a close relationship with your pre-teen daughter. It is one of the most useful and practical books available for building a relationship with girls of this age. What I particularly liked was that she does not just give you advice such as watching a "chick-flick" together but goes a step further to list some recommended movies. Instead of giving obscure advice like many other relationship books, the author provides specific, definitive ideas.
As you read through it don't miss the highlighted sections on Rave Reviews (suggested additional materials for the section) or Just for Fun (lots of fun activities for you and your daughter). These are the things that separate this book from other similar ones. A highly recommended book, it should also be read by dads who want to understand their daughter and build a strong relationship.

This book has some good insight as to how boys think and feel. It has good suggestions on how to talk to them, what's really important to them, and dealing with their moods. It has some very funny stories, some sad and good God stories.

Beatle Influence!

I have loved this book since I was 5 and still have my treasured copy. The appeal for me was partly because of the title as the Beatles were nicknamed the Moptops.
Martin, nicknamed "Moptop" (can't get past that Beatle influence)! refuses to get a haircut. When sent to the local barbershop, the boy whose hair was longer than any Beatle and wasn't even brushed or styled (and theirs WAS), hides in a store behind a mop barrel. A woman with reading glasses reaches into the barrel, thinking she's getting a mop and instead, gets the boy!
Yowling with pain, the boy races off to the barbershop. While he's there, other things are being cut back as well -- the hedges; the newly mowed lawn; a dog was clipped as well as a tree. Too bad the boy didn't have his hair Beatle coiffed! The barber could have at least given the boy a Beatle haircut! While the boy looked better before the haircut, Beatle fans especially will appreciate this one!

I stumbled into a later volume of this series (Books Kids Will Sit Still For 3: A Read-Aloud Guide (Children's and Young Adult Literature Reference)) while working my way through books about books for children at the library. We read to the toddler daughter daily and I am always looking for new picture books to try. I was amazed and delighted by volume 3 and promptly went looking for the previous two volumes which older books. I still can't believe that the ex-library copy I bought looks like it was never cracked open.
Freeman begins this volume with about 100 pages mostly about building elementary school library programs. I'm a parent, not a librarian, so this was less applicable to me (though at times still quite interesting). I bought the book, however, for the annotated bibliography of read alouds. The fiction section is divided into overlapping sections based on suggested age, an organization that's more useful to me than having all fiction lumped together. Although the recommended age for the preschool section (61 titles) is 3-4, some of the books there are already favorites of my 19-month-old daughter and we look forward to trying others. It's wonderful to have additional title suggestions. Most of us think to look for more books by an author and we also look for more books by illustrators that we like (sometimes discovering new authors that way) but themed suggestions are always appreciated.
I'm delighted to have discovered this resourse. It's going on my shelf next to Trelease and Odean.
