Yes! I have read a few books that I wanted to read again. However, "Mrs. Mike" by Benedict and Nancy Freedman found me wanting to re-read chapters the first time through.
This treasure will be stored in a special place to be read again and again when I want to go back in time, feel feelings and thank God for talented authors.
I wish I had found it as a teenager, or a young mother. Guess this retiree should just be grateful that I was given this warm gift in my latter years.

It honestly chronicals these lives and shows that it is in the sharing of the small things that make life joyful. I'm so happy to be able to now be able to now share this book with my neice

I just got this book again since I lost/loaned my first copy. Although some have critisized the writing style, and the facts, I really enjoyed this book. I think it's one to keep on your shelf and pull out from time to time to reread.

I found this book in the school library when I was in 7th grade. I read it every year I was in school there. It was a wonderful story about a young girl who falls in love with a good man and talks about their life together. It made me laugh, cry, and cry some more. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good story. It is a great book.

I think that other reviews have done a fine job of praising the importance and genius of Bastiat's work. And I thoroughly enjoyed his reasoning and clarity as well. But I was pretty disappointed by the quality of this edition. The book has misplaced punctuation and typos in it -- the kind that would be caught by a simple spell checker. Maybe I'm picky, but I find such errors to be rather distracting when reading. When I buy a book, I expect that someone has carefully proofread it, but somehow that seems to have been overlooked here.
So, 5+ stars for Bastiat, and a generous 2 stars for the publisher.

The author of this book was clearly blessed with a stellar mind capable of powerful reasoning and the most cogent elucidation of his mental products. His presentation in this book of the right use of law versus the manipulation of law is virtually inarguable. The logic is glaringly clear and unavoidable. Every, and I mean every U.S citizen, should read this book. In fact, had this book been required reading in public schools from 1850 (its origination) our nation would not presently be on the precipitous decline that it is. Any person with the main of his mental faculties in proper working order will inevitably be convinced by Bastiat's case that the definition of Law is the organizing of force for the maintenance of justice, and therefore, its application should be strictly limited to protecting individual liberty. It requires only that the reader accept that justice be understood as the unhindered presence and practice of liberty- which ensures that each individual is free to exercise his God given faculties (his humanity) according to his own conscience (or the direction of God if he is wise) rather than according to the coercion of other men. Can there be a better definition or objective for the law than this? Bastiat argues forcefully that this situation of liberty will naturally be the most peaceful and prosperous for any society. This book will change your mind or greatly enhance your thinking regarding the matter of the right use of the law.

This is a formative, classic work. If you are into politics, do yourself a favor and read it ASAP. This is really a light-weight primer to libertarianism, and yet it is very powerful and heavy-duty at the same time. If more people would read (and adopt) these ideas, I think our political environment would slowly move in the right direction!

In 1850 a French guy wrote this little essay on the Law. It could have been written today in the US, in Europe, because we are certainly not progressing in terms of common-sense, politically. Here are some ideas:
-Justice is the absence of injustice. Nothing more than that.
-What God does is well done. Do not claim to know more than Him. The fact that this rule is almost universally broken says much about our level of hubris.
For Bastiat Law is a minus, it takes away. His subject is so relevant today that we can see the results of the States' false philanthropy, just as Orwell warned us in his Animal Farm. Western governments certainly know how to belittle us... we couldn't do without them. In Spain we have this government commercial encouraging drivers to drive well: "We can't drive for you!" They wished. The only idea that they think about it tells how far they've got under our skin.
This book is dynamite. Makes one see the world today in a clear and detached way. Who are the philanthropists that we "owe so much devotion to"? Take Gore's greedy schemes with his mineral mines behind his climactic facade. Take another homeless, Soros, the preacher of the Left, whose God is money.
To be a Pharisee is indeed to love the Law while hating man, to use the Law to make Injustice legal, to pervert Justice, to become a new god to modern State worshippers, wellfare addicts. Yes, Bastiat would sure be ashamed to see what the West has become: the legalized plunder by the State.

As a former climber, I've always been fascinated by Everest. This is a wonderfully written and beautifully photographed account of the ill-fated assault on Everest that took a number of lives.
Especially sad, since as I was reading it yesterday, we got word of the death of Sir Edmund Hillary.

I bought this book for the photography alone: this is as close as I am ever likely to get to the Himalayas.
The photographs are spectacular, and I can see why so many people are challenged to want to make the journey to Base Camp if not further. Appearances can be deceptive: beautiful colour photographs portray a seemingly benevolent picture of Everest which is quite at odds with reality.
Recommended for those with an interest in the Himalayas as well as to those who admire beautiful photography.

I was completely surprised at how good this book was, the publisher write up does not nearly describe the scope of this book. I read it in a day and can't wait to start the next one.
Here is where the tragedy starts. Due to what the publisher thinks are low sales numbers Ms. Freeman's third book in this series has been put on hold until further notice!!!
I urge anyone who has read this book and enjoyed as much as I did to contact Penguin Publishing group to rally behind this author and get her books published.
This is one of the many reasons to buy new books when you find an author you appreciate. By buying used books talented authors like this get dumped by their publisher because the sale numbers are high enough.

By the size of the book, I expected an epic. What I got was a fun run through a new universe. The issues are serious, the genre is fantasy, and the writing is entertaining. The perfect mix for a fantasy novel. This is fantasy but the motives and issues are as real as they are in our universe. What is amazing is the story isn't heavy and oppressive. It quickly became one of my all time favorites.

I'm eagerly awaiting for his next novel to be published. I think that Brian Freeman is one of the most talented writers to come along recently.
I hope that he continues to stay true to his style of writing and stays with his suspense genre.

It is generally not the best idea to read the third book in a series without reading the first two. But this book came out before I got around to reading the earlier ones and I couldn't wait. The good news for other impatient readers is that this book stands alone as a great read. I'm sure I must have missed some character nuances by starting with this book, but I didn't feel there was anything I needed to know that wasn't in this book. What I do know is that I'm definitely going to read the first two books and all future ones!
This book grabbed me from the first page (though it took me a bit to figure out it didn't start in Minnesota) and I couldn't put it down. I read it during one of the last winter storms here in Minnesota so I had the perfect sound effects for the book's setting.
The main plot was gripping enough, but just when I thought it was over, he threw in a completely unexpected twist that caught me by surprise. As I wrote in my review title: Wow. Just. Wow.
I am recommending this book and series to all my friends who love mystery thrillers.

I read this at night and couldn't sleep because of the adrenaline in my system when I finished!! Excellent read!

"A wonderful thriller set in the chilling cold of Duluth MN. Well written, a variety of intriguing characters, and almost as many twists and turns as a Jeffery Deaver novel. A winner!

Although I enjoyed his previous 2 novels, this one was his best to date. I loved the plot, the twists and turns and of course the main characters. The way he writes makes you feel like you're a native of Minnesota. You can actually feel the cold wind and snow.
I'm eagerly awaiting for his next novel to be published. I think that Brian Freeman is one of the most talented writers to come along recently.
I hope that he continues to stay true to his style of writing and stays with his suspense genre.

I have been hooked on Brian's books since I read "Immoral". Everyone should start with Immoral, and then Stripped, and then Stalked. I love continueing stories..I also had an opportunity to meet Brian and his wife at a recent book signing..VERY nice, genuine people. For fans of James Patterson, John Sanford...Brian ranks right up there!!!

This book will cure your repetetive strain injuries. Butler describes how to stretch properly and what stretches will benefit you most depending on where you have pain or numbness. It is amazing how much better I got, and how quickly! You will need to keep up on your stretches to stay well.

I'd only be repeating the praises others have given this book, but I just want to say I highly recommend this book. The stretches are explained clearly and simply and they do work. I've bought this book for friends and when they follow the exercises, they get relief. Another plus, is doing the stretches FEELS so good and it only takes maybe 15 minutes.

This book was loaned to me at my job as a computer engineer. I had carpal tunnel affecting my wrists & forarm. Excellent, easy stretches which really relieve the pain. I recommended it to a friend who cleans houses for a living, and she was able to stop wearing the arm brace. Great for those tiny, hard to stretch muscles.
Great self help book!

I have been experimenting with many strategies to get rid of carpal tunnel in my right hand, including learning how to write and do housework with my left hand. I do the exercises for both hands at the same time so that my left hand doesn't develop the same problem. With these exercises
and a hand brace when sleeping, pain at night went away. But if I forget to do the exercises on one day, I pay for it the next day through pain and decreased range of motion so I know they are essential. The carpal tunnel has not all gone away after several months of doing the exercises, however, just improved. Perhaps I need to do them more often. Be careful when you do them - she is not kidding when she says go GENTLY. More force is worse. The other thing that seems to be helping me is pilates.

In Session illuminates how the heart of therapy lies not in the therapist's theory or dogmatic beliefs, but in the relationship that exists in session between the client and therapist. Seamlessly weaving together the information she collected through interviews, research, and her own personal experiences in therapy, Deborah Lott reveals how this crucial bond between women and their therapists requires the therapist be professional enough to adhere to the boundaries of the "approximate relationship" while also being human enough to be empathically and emotionally present as the client's unique complexity unfolds. This book serves as both a "buyer beware" book that guides women in evaluating their own therapies, as well as a poignant reminder to clinicians about the powerful healing/harm duality inherent in the therapeutic relationship. With the closing words of her book, Deborah summarizes how the therapeutic journey can ultimately be a healing one: "Only by revealing what she is really feeling about herself, her therapist, and their relationship might a woman in therapy have the profound pleasure of being truly seen and understood."
this book is so informative!

I was looking for readings on "boundaries" in psychotherapeutic relationship. Well, I didn't really understand why my therapist insisted so much on keeping boundaries between her and me. I didn't see any problems having conversations over coffee if I happened to run into her outside of therapy. I didn't have any fantasies about finding where she lives, seeking her out, but I didn't see any harms to have a socially friendly relationship with her either. Sounded like very bad ideas from my therapist standpoint. Felt like we would jeopardize all our hard work in therapy if we socialized outside of the "sanctity of the office"! Anyway, I was interested in learning what these "boundaries" stuffs were all about from someone outside of our relationship. This book not only answered my questions on boundaries, but also gave insight into all aspects of relationship between women and their therapist. Wow, what a complicated world! My hat is off to Deborah for writing this book so candidly, attributing no shame to the patients for their feelings, sexual or not. My therapist is a wonderful woman, full of compassion and warm caring for me. She's genuinely listening to me with empathy. I gradually progressed towards a complete trust in her. I told her all my shameful secrets I never told any therapists before. I found myself adoring her like a kid. Yet, despite our wonderful therapeutic relationship, I still wondered if I was weird or some thing. This book helps me to understand my attachment to my therapist and don't feel ashamed about it. It helps me not feeling "weird" about my "child-like longings" for a motherly figure in her. It strengthens my trusting in her and in myself to work out my problems. I would recommend this book to anyone who has any interest in psychotherapy, patients or therapists.

This was the first thought I had when I started reading this book. Deborah does a fabulous job of describing the feelings of transference.
I entered therapy almost a year ago and had been to many therapists in the past. However, this time, something was different. I had never even heard of transference or knew this could happen. So, naturally, I thought again, I'm the only one stuff like this happens to.
I recommend this book to anyone but mostly to therapists. I think they should read this to understand just what we go through. Even though our transference isn't about them per se, it certainly feels that way. I guess it could be about them if their therapist crossed the line, which mine hasn't done.
Thank you Deborah. I needed this book!

Even if you are lucky enough never to experience transference and attachment issues with your therapist, there is plenty of good information here about the goals of psychotherapy, its history, subgroups and boundaries. And if you ARE experiencing transference, dependence, attachment or all three, do yourself a huge favor and read this book.
An amazing book. Highly recommended. An absolute gift to women who are trying to use psychotherapy to overcome negative pasts and/or cope with the stresses and losses of the present.

For women going through comprehensive psychotherapy will find this book so helpful and relieving. relieving is probably the better word. for all women searching for meaning and clarity in their therapeutic relationship, this book is essential. It is so critical to use the dynamics of the relationship between a woman and her therapist for therapeutic gain. this book gives you perspective and a way to approach all the intense, confusing and seemingly crazy feelings that women have for their therapists. i would probably not have stayed with my therapy if it wasn't for this book. this book helped me feel ok with my feelings and gave me the courage to bring them up in therapy which has totally changed the course of therapy for me in a good way. i can't begin to tell you how much this book has helped.
