West's Business Law ReviewReview Date: 2000-06-02
After I bought it from Amazon (lowest price, believe me), I was very satisfied. The author explains all topics in a clear manner and provides interesting case examples. This is one book that I will use as reference over and over. I can't imagine myself without it now. I also can't imagine a better business law book.

A WONDERFUL TREAT FOR OZ FANS - Colin AyresReview Date: 2003-02-18
Jerry Robbins's and the Colonial players deserve a lot of praise, the quality of the production is excellent.
The actors bring to life our cherished Oz characters with enthusiasm, lots of humour and Dorothy (Amy Strack) is marvellous she plays Dorothy the way Baum wrote her happy , intelligent, earnest and confident! A true all round Amercan girl.
Just sit back and close your eye's and let the music and sound effects whisk you down the yellow brick road to Oz!
For those out there who are upset at there not being many, prospects of sequels to the films at the moment, this is the next best thing.
The efforts in this productiion are those of any great film or television series and I would compare them to any of the great B.B.C. radio productions.
For those who have never known anymore about Oz than the Wizard of Oz M.G.M.film, if you love this then you'll love the books and will never want to look back.
I wait in anticipation of the next instalment it will be money well spent!

"How lovely!... How lovely!"Review Date: 2001-09-15
There are few or no weak links in the cast. The performers who appear as Dorothy and the Scarecrow deserve special praise, but there were only two or three performers I couldn't warm up to, and others may feel differently. Amy Strack's Dorothy is almost in the same league as those of Judy Garland and Fairuza Balk (in Disney's "Return to Oz"); her interpretation of the role, however, is quite different from theirs. Strack's Dorothy is only seldom tearful and sentimental like Garland's, and never somber and introspective like Balk's. She is cheerful, determined, and courageous in the face of every situation -- a wonderful role model for young girls. Strack even manages to make Dorothy sound older in each successive story (since the five books adapted by this production take place over several years; Dorothy probably ages from about 6 to about 10). "Wonderful World" was recorded over only six months, so this subtle but wonderful effect is due to Strack's skill as an actress. As a fan of the Oz books, I recognize Strack's Dorothy as Baum's own conception of the character at last brought to life.
One of "Wonderful World"'s greatest glories is Jeffrey Gage's memorable musical score. Certainly one of its greatest moments comes when Dorothy and her friends first enter the Emerald City and the music by itself manages to convey the City's beauty and glory. The sound effects and stereo production are also superb -- for the full effect, listen to this set on headphones.
"Wonderful World" **is** wonderful, like the books on which it is based. Buy it for your children, for your library, for anywhere where children with access to a tape recorder will find it. It represents a kind of beauty, hope and love that we need now more than ever before.
THIS IS A CLASSIC!Review Date: 2001-03-16
This is not the MGM movie - it's better! The 10 cassette tape set allows us to travel with Dorothy and her friends through the first five Oz books. The stories faithfully follow L Frank Baum's original adventure stories and the Colonial Radio Players have given the immortal characters voice and sparkle. I found the casting particularly effective and applaud the actors for creating characters based on the text of the books and not on memories of the movie. It's also a treat to hear the voices of previously unheard friends such as; Jack Pumpkinhead, Shaggy Man, Ozma and HM Wogglebug TE, not to mention the dozens of animals and people they encounter. From storks, to field mice, Munchkins to Mangaboos they have all been brought brilliantly to life in this production. I have to mention the original music which is extraordinary, from traveling music, to the marching band of OZ, to a music box winding down at the end of the last tape the music dances us along through Oz. The final puzzle piece that brings these classic stories to vibrant life is the attention to detail in the sound effects. You hear the Tin Man walking, the crackle of a hearth fire, even the rustle of straw as Scarecrow gives Dorothy a hug, it all combines to pull you into the adventures and keep you there.
Whether you listen to these tapes in small bits or extended listening sessions you will want to go back again and again to the Wonderful World of OZ.

Aviation Ordnance Man (AOM) first class petty officer (1/c) Frank Durham arrived in Guadalcanal in December of 1942 and was assigned to the U.S. Naval Advanced Base (NAB), 145th Bomb Disposal Unit. The two-man unit consisted of Lt. (jg) Homer S. Anderson and Frank. They established their shop next to Henderson Field. At the time a Navy Bomb Disposal unit consisted of one officer and one petty officer. Frank's honest account tells how he and some other enlisted guys got involved in the Japanese war souvenir trade and an alcohol distillery business on the island. He also tells of being on a ship that was torpedoed and having to abandon ship. In November 1943, Frank received a field commission to ensign and joined the ranks of other "mustangs," enlisted men earning commissions. Frank departed Guadalcanal on 25 November 1943 for stateside duty until war's end and returning to civilian life. The book describes life on Guadalcanal from December 1942 to November 1943 and the many bomb disposal missions that Frank participated in.
John D. Bartleson Jr., CWO4, USN (Retired), and former Historian for the Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Association wrote the Forward to the book. Appendix A in the book recalls the stories of three Japanese soldiers on Guadalcanal from their captured diaries. Appendix B is a collection of bomb disposal stories called Stories Told Out of School. Bartleson wrote an account of Lord Charles Henry George "Wild Jack" Howard, 20th Earl of Suffolk and 13th Earl of Berkshire who became Britain's Chief Field Research and Experimental Officer at the Directorate of Scientific Research and was posthumously awarded the George Cross for his bravery in France and his early work in British Bomb Disposal. Edwin R. "Ed" Gropp tells about his accident on Guadalcanal on 15 April 1943 and his postwar treatment when he returned to civilian life. There's a story about Robert W. "Ike" Eigell, Commander, USN (Retired) entitled, A Legend in Explosive Ordnance Disposal. There is an excerpt from Eigell's book Recollections of a Mustang, entitled Monkeys of Guam. And About That Brass Monkey, a story that was printed in the August 2001 issue of The Disposaleer tells of the origin of a very famous phrase. Lieutenant William "Bill" Shriner's story entitled William Shriner - A Strong Voice on D-Day and Afterwards recalls the first German plane shot down by a surface vessel the USS ANCON (AGC-4) at Omaha Beach. Draper Kauffman and His Bomb Disposal School -the Aftermath tells about Rear Admiral Draper L. Kauffman and the birth of the Navy Bomb Disposal School. Mark Rivinus, Commander, USN (Retired) wrote The Final Disposal Job of BD School. The school was disbanded on 31 October 1945.
By the end of the war, after running 78 classes, 1,050 officers and enlisted men out of 1,559 students graduated from the U.S. Navy Bomb Disposal School. Seven Navy Bomb Disposal officers and two enlisted men were killed performing bomb disposal duties in WWII.
The 156 page paperback book is well illustrated with bomb disposal cartoon humor, 15 pages of photos, and an index.
The reviewer Mike R. Vining is a retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major who served in the army from 1968 to 1999 in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Special Operations field.

Do I cut the green wire or the red wire?!Review Date: 2008-01-02
Specifically, he arrives in Quadalcanal after the hostilities had quieted down considerably. He spends the remainder of his service time, taking apart unexploded bombs, torpedoes, and making recommendations on what type of explosive to present the Japanese military with. Interesting aspects of this book include a commando mission to defuse a bomb some island locals didn't appreciate.
The nice thing about this book is it really makes you appreciate what the early EOD servicemen were doing. They were a brand-new all-volunteer section of the Navy dealing with some of the most dangerous activities imaginable. After all, defusing a failed bomb that someone dropped on you must take real guts. It was interesting to note no one wanted this guy's job!
I also enjoyed the humor in this book. It's a nice easy read. An ambitious person could finish it in a weekend. But it has a lot of additional sources for further information. Most of all it does a nice job in describing the birth of this unique form of service.

And before him, the French cubism school with its leader Georges Braque borrowed its forms and shapes from drawings on African caves walls.
However a major distinction in the artistic expression of French cubism and ethnic African primitive art remained self-explanatory and a dividing screen between an ornamental European art and a pure rudimentary African art so true to its nature.
African art does not embellish a theme. It evolves around it and expresses it in honest naïveté.
A polished European art is an ornamental expression.
African art is traditions and raw feelings expressed in utmost honesty.
You will understand its importance in the galleries of breathtaking illustrations in the book.
The teacher will widen his knowledge, and the student will expand his appreciation of African arts by reading this book.
The book is a mosaic of colors, the birth of unspoiled art expression, and a legacy of uncorrupted primitive beauty that transcended the dark caves of Africa.

Frank is Frankly Extensive on African ArtReview Date: 2006-03-01
This is one of the best and highly extensive books on African Art. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The content describing the motifs, dewellings, statues, sculptures and costumes of the African People are quite impressive.
Frank Willett has done his homework but more importantly he has filled every page full of roaring images that speak to the traditions and the images of the African people. This book serves to give us a rapid, excellerated peek into the past. It was very revealing in the geometric structure of the objects, the color, rhythums, shapes, forms and symbolisim. Whether you are a history teacher, student, business person or artist you'll find this book very handy and informing.
