Since Brother Lawrence is my all-time favorite spiritual author, I could not wait to read this book. It is not so simple as Brother Lawrence, but it abounds with suggestions for walking with God (the original title of the book). Fr. Healy reminds us that God never asks more of us than we can give, and that love, not obligation and never fear, is the motor of the Christian life. Walk with God and live!

This full size book is yet another wonderful addition to the growing body of literature on this naturalist and classically-trained artist from the Gulf Coast. The large size allows nice display of many of his paintings, drawings, and other pieces. The essays are a good introduction to his life and contributions. Those who love nature and are fascinated by the relationship of people and wild things will treasure Anderson. If this is your first contact, your next stop will be the Anderson Museum in Ocean Springs, MS -- and bring your camping gear and binocs because you're going to want to go to Horn Island (now part of Gulf Islands National Seashore) and see it for yourself.

I purchased this book in 2004 after the big Anderson exhibit came through Memphis. As a sometime Mississippian, I gave his alphabet block prints to my wedding attendants and my child had a Walter Anderson nursery. Now, in 2007, I am especially glad to have this since Hurricane Katrina devastated Ocean Springs and the Anderson family's repository of his work. The New Orleans Museum of Art, Mississippi Museum of Art, and collectors still have many of the pieces, but for me, this book is a record of many pieces that I'll never be able to see again.

Aitchison does a fine job of surveying the field of psycholinguistics and providing an introduction to the field. As always, she is concise, witty, and apropos. The strength of this book lies in the author's ability to summarise the various theories and evaluate them. I particularly enjoyed her evaluation of Chomsky through the introduction of his grammar to "Jupiter's stick insects."
Jean Aitchison is quickly becoming my favourite linguistics writer for her ability to explain complex linguistics points with ease. Some mammals tend to be more articulate than others; indeed some tend to obfuscate rather than articulate. Aitchison is clearly more articulate than most.

This book is an accessible and delightful introduction to the field of linguistics. Some of its strong points:
* Good coverage both of the arguments for standard Chomskyan theory, and the experimental evidence that fails to support it * Excellent coverage of child language acquisition * Explanations of important experiments--how they worked, what they showed, and why they mean what they mean
I've used this book successfully in 3 introductory psycholinguistics courses, and have sent a chapter from it to my grandmother to explain what linguistics is. Can't get more accessible than that! At the same time, though, it's useful for anyone who wants to get a handle on the field; it's where I go when I want a refresher.

This is the best controls book for engineers who are first learning controls. The author has a great step-by-step approach that really simplifies controls for the average student and makes a very complicated subject much easier to learn. The pictures are great too! Especially Figure 1.2!

I really, really, really absolutely loved this book. It has to be up there with the best ever written, of course I am bias because Ms Ray is a favorite of mine. Alex and Thorne have a love that was truly made in heaven. I loved Alex's character, she was the extremely independent type, Thorne had no choice but to fall in love with her. Of course, back in that time women were seen and not heard. That did not apply to Alexandria Carstairs, Thorne did have a time with her but some people don't change. Well I do not what to ruin the story for you. Please, please, please try and find a copy of this book, you will not be disappointed! ... This is a must read book! Much, much, much love to Ms Ray!
Another "Two Thunbs Up" for Francis Ray. Very entertaining.

Ms. Ray first captured my attention with her arabesque novel Forever Yours. Since then, I have read everything that I could get my hands on that Ms. Ray has published. The Bargain, unlike any of her previous works offers readers a beautiful historical love story complete with intrigue and suspense. A must read! And I promise you won't be disappointed.

"The Baseball Boy" is written by Kelly Roberts, whose son Doug is a major league baseball player. This story follows his passion to become a baseball player from his days of playing T-ball through his high school years. She also vividly describes, in a way to which children can relate, the events that occur at baseball games and how much fun it is to attend.
Nicholas really liked the story. He said, "Baseball is fun. I like to hit the ball really far and run around the bases. Playing baseball when I'm old would be cool. Mom and Dad will go to all my games and maybe I'll be on TV." He also liked the part with the seventh inning stretch, saying, "I can sing `Take Me Out to the Ball Game' really loud."
Roberts provides an inspirational story for people of all ages in "The Baseball Boy." She stresses the importance of working hard to achieve one's goals. Equally important, she mentions that her son's teams did not win all the time but he kept working hard to become a better player. I think it was good that she began the story with her son as a young child. By doing this, she shows that sometimes it takes a long time to reach a goal, but that once it is achieved the work and time invested was worthwhile.

He listens very carefully every time we read it together and especially likes singing "Take me out the the ball game". Kelly Roberts, thank you for giving parents such an inspiring story. My son will grow up with Baseball Boy. It's a classic!

Basic Electrocardiology by Steven Scheidt very clearly and methodically illustrates which progression of electrical activity through the heart's anatomy correlates to the segments of the EKG. The time-lapse color sequences through all the leads really helped me gather the basic tools to interpret EKGs. Concepts like Q-waves and bundle block I think are very well presented. Overall, this is an outstanding first book to acquire the foundation needed for EKG analysis.

This is an outstanding overview of electrocardiography showing the relationship of the underlying electrophysiologic anatomy (with drawings by the famous medical artist, the late Frank Netter) and the resultant surface ECG. "A picture says a thousand words" and this ECG book really ties it all together. Outstanding for health care provider students, residents, and faculty.

From the back of the book we are told "We often hear and read about the Christian Way of Life. For some people this is a vague and intangible expression. In reality, it means precisely a life of common interest with God; a life in which this love of God dominates all our thoughts, words and actions. The Greater the love, the more Christian the life.
Whatever we eat, drink, say, write or do, it should come from our soul living I conscious union and silent conversation with God. It is this union with God that colors our whole life and makes it Christian."
Kilian who has taught theology and philosophy, a voting member of the Second Vatican Council, and a Carmelite priest uses his vast experience to bear on this topic of conversing with God. Much like Brother Lawrence's The Practice of the Presence of God it will help one learn how to experience God in all the details of life.
Then it has a collection of Aspiration prayers that have been used down through the ages.
This book is about going deeper than the Jesus Prayer it is about it is about deep intimacy and communion with God. It is a guide in how to grow in your friendship with God.
At under 130 pages it is a treasure that will lead you to a deeper life with God.
