Ford Falcons - A Better Idea!

The Ford slogan during Ford's heyday with cool cars like the Falcon was "Drive a Ford! It's a BETTER idea!" and "Ford gives you Better Ideas!" The beautiful little 1960 Ford Falcon with its cool rounded contours was definitely a Better idea.

I love Ford Falcons. I really do. This book has some good factual information the car some really cool pictures of this really cool car. (I think the coolest Falcons were the 1960-1965 sedans). I enjoyed the book. For any Falcon lover, this book is a treat and one that will have you soaring down memory lane in your cool (cyber) Falcon! Just love that better idea Ford car!

(Note: The Ford Ranchero, was a Falcon with a truck back 1960-65, the years that truck and its automobile counterpart looked their coolest to me. I love a Falcon car)!

A BOOK FALCON LOVERS HAVE PRAYED FOR! A BETTER IDEA

I love Ford Falcons. I really do. I think the 1960-63 models were the COOLEST looking. (I also like 1964 and 1965 models, but my FAVORITE models were the 1960-63). The spiffy little Falcon was Ford's better idea. It was a beautiful, streamlined, well proportioned little Ford that got good gas mileage. It was truly a better idea and this book is such a treat for people who love that car. Photographs of the classic Falcon, in all its prime glory will appeal to Falcon lovers and bring many a smile to many a face.

Falcon lovers will also be able to appreciate the sight of a Falcon parade -- a long line of Ford Falcons and the Ford Falcon show. I love it!

This book IS a better idea.

Very high quality thorough book on the History of the Ford Motor Co. in England. Covers the entire time period from the pre WWII era up to the present with infomation on both the cars and company fortunes. Having owned several 70's Capri's I was especially interested in that particular model. Very nice text and photos

Most of this current generation only knows about the Japanese powerhouse 'Lean' methods and attributes them to being invented in the 1950's by various Japanese engineers. What you will find in this book are descriptions of many 'Lean' principles applied in Ford's Model T production lines that most popular literature attributes to being developed by Ohno or Shingo (like Heijunka or arranging the machines to match process flow). Sorry guys, 'Lean' is an American invention. We go back much further. If you are interested in industrial history, read "From the American System to Mass Production, 1800-1932" by David Houndshell.

An Oldie but a Goodie!

I first read this book in the early 1970s as I was restoring my Model A Ford. I bought every book I could that described my favorite antique vehicle. This book was the best and is STILL the best book in my Model A library.

The three authors were, I believe, all Ford Employees that worked in the Ford archives, so they had access to a LOT of original Model A Ford information. The book starts with an introduction of the transition from Model T to Model A and describes historically what happened in the years between 1927 and 1932.

Loaded with Ford archives photographs, the book is a fascinating history and also a big assist to those restoring a Model A, since there are so many good photos of what the cars looked like when new. Many charts and figures add to the usefulness of the book.

One would think that 30 years after production, there would be lots of errors or omissions - not true here. These guys did their homework!

If you can only buy one book on the Model A Ford, get this one. You won't be disappointed.
