This book has to be one of the best ive ever rear about early fords and the pictures are just amazing.. words cant describe this so i wont even try.....

For those of you who may not know the name, JM Wallace-Hadrill is one of "THE" names in Early Medieval germanic studies. In this book, as in all his others, he speaks clearly and with authority.

In this book (the result of a lecture series delivered at Oxford) the topic is germanic kingship: our understanding of it and it's evolution. The chapter headings are:

Germanic Kingship and the Romans
King Aethelberht
The Seventh Century
Bede
Charlemagne and Offa
Charles the Bald and Alfred

Five Stars. A synopsis of a lecture series, there are gaps in time if not in thinking. Absolutely top rate analysis. There are references and it should be noted that this is an academic work, by which I mean that the reader will be expected to know some limited Latin. (see below for example)

"What was the characteristic of the Tacitean rex? It was nobilitas. For this, says Tacitus, reges were `taken' by the Germans: `reges ex nobilitate... sumunt.' He used a semantically neutral verb, sumere, that implied nothing about how the taking was managed. In this respect they differed from certain war-leaders who he calls duces: these were `taken' for virtus, prowess in the field.

Note: Amazon does not allow for italics so the latin is in regular print. Also, I don't want you to think that the book is chalked full of Latin. Mostly it is not. There are however, sections like the above which do deal with terminology and, of course, the derivation of that terminology is discussed. Mostly I think a non-Latin reader would do fine with this book if the topic is of interest. [Certainly it's been decades since I read/wrote Latin and I enjoyed re-reading this text.]

Keeping interesting reading for a beginning reader is always a challenge. Henry Ford's First Race was a winner, especially with our six year old son. The cover is now curled from repeated reading.

In Part I, Assessment and Identification Practices, the reader has the oppurtunity to explore and examine issues surrounding these practices for African American students with exceptionalities, including those with gifts and talents. Part II. Antecedent Factors Surrounding Complementary School Learning Enviroments, includes the following topics: self-concept models for African American exceptional students; communication patterns of African American learners; curricular and pedagogical procedures for African American learners with academic and cognitive disabilities; cultural framework for educating students classified as having emotional of behavioral disorders; and the restructuring of teacher education programs to enhance leadership and teaching skills of professionals regarding inclusiveness for African Americans. In Part III, The Home-Community-School Pyramid Connection, the contributors investigate the roles of African American parents and communities. They address the restructuring of the balance of power and/or networking between professionals, African American parents, and communities. Finally, Part IV, Alternative Models, features two exemplary models presently providing effective educational services to African American youth. Embedded in this examination are the philosophical, curricular, and pedagogical bases for the Foreign Language Immersion and Cultural Studies School in Detroit, Michigan, and the Marcus Garvey School in Los Angeles, California. - except from book's preface

Its one of the best Mystery story books I ever read. It brings action to life just like in the book says. Its cool in many ways like the tv characters coming to life in the real Eerie. All I got to say is that its one good book.

Man,this is good! I mean better than Goosebumps (which to be perfectly honest I don't think is any good)! Still, though I'd like to talk about how good this is I really hate it when people don't talk about the plots when they review some thing so... well it's basically about these two kids who discover that a new kind of produce is turning people into plants. If you don't read this book you don't know what you're missing!

If there are two words that best describes the authors work. Its these two words. ABOUT TIME. Finally a collection of poems that are not only every day poetic arts of works and words, but a guide if you choose for everyday Thoughts and Reflections. Keep up the excellent work.

Part of the Facts on File Library of American History series, Encyclopedia of Women and American Politics is a solid reference packed cover to cover with alphabetical entries of female leaders, organizations and social issues of particular importance to women, and much more. A wealth of quick-reference appendices (such as a list of firsts for women in U.S. politics), a quick list of entries, a bibliography, and an index round out this solid and accessible resource. Highly recommended especially for high school, college and public library shelves.

I can't say enough about the value of this book for every therapist who works with families with children! It offers many practical ways to intervene with children by use of play therapy techniques that any therapist, comfortable or not, experienced or not, can implement in therapy. What's more, it offers wonderful insight into the needs and experiences of children; it provides guidance in addressing numerous circumstances that may be presented in therapy,(such as divorce and stepfamily issues); and even taps into the minds of some of the greatest leaders in the field of family therapy. As if this were not enough, this gem of a book covers practical applications of play therapy through the lenses of a variety of theoretical orientations such as structural, experiential, and solution-focused. Case examples crystalize the applications of techniques and their outcomes. Expect to come away from reading this book feeling excited and competent in your next session with a family with children!
