For any scholar of epic literature-- or even those who are curious and may need some extra critical thinking help-- this compilation is unparalleled in comprehensiveness. After laboriously searching for reference resources for epic poetry, I hit the jackpot with this book. I HIGHLY recommend it to students, professors, and enthusiasts alike.

It had been years since lovely Lois Fleming had seen Shandy Stowe...years since they'd been thrown together in an affair that had been impossible, yet unforgettable. But now things were different as they come face to face in a small Connecticut town that seethes with secret scandal, shame and guilt. Lois has been sent to ghost write the memoirs of a famous, well loved newspaper columnist who wrote human interest stories. At first it is thought he died of a heart attack. Then Lois decides it has to be murder, but who would murder the most beloved man in the U.S. Set in the 1950's. A really good story that moved right along.

Let me say first that I am not a member of a Catholic church, being born and raised in protestant congregations. But when it comes to finding ways to include and worship congregants with developmental disabilities, the Catholic Church is way ahead of other denominations. This book is an amazing work of grace for people like my son, who may never understand the sacraments on the same level as those without DD. The authors lead us through a very healing study of why we need to include these souls BECAUSE of--and not simply "in spite of"--their differences. Any member of any congregation who is considering how to include people with cognitive issues would do well (and be blessed) by a reading of this work.
I was a bit concerned about the less than inspired title, and thought it might be too dry and "discertation-like" a read, but found it to be readable, moving, and life-changing. I only hope I can encourage enough others to read it, that it will make a difference in my congregation. It's a shame that this book was written in 1994, and the people of God don't seem to be any further along in learning how to love and include persons with disabilities.
I highly recommend this book. I know it can be hard to come by, and might cost a fair premium, but believe that it is worth every penny.

Biographies of 700+ individuals who have contributed significantly to the development of the state of Missouri with many achieving national fame as well. The book draws from all fields of activities--politics, business, science, religion, art, etc. without regard to race, gender, etc. Although the book seems a little pricy at first glance, I wasn't disappointed--the thoroughness and quality makes it well worth the price.

The Door to a Man's Heart, by Barbara Yule Rogers Foley and Warren C. Rogers is a wonderful story of true love. A love that is so strong, it endures the years of time, creating an amazing legacy along the way. Woven into it, you will find the history of a close knit family, lifelong friendships and the wonderful memories created together on the enchanting shores of Nicolet Bay in the Peninsula State Park in Wisconsin.
I really enjoyed reading about the life of Warren and Betty, how they met, fell and love, created a family together and the pictures included in the book that connected the images I had built in my mind to their actual history together. The descriptions and images of Nicolet Bay book brought back so many wonderful memories of my own, having gone camping with my family as a child. This is a "feel good" book that is a perfect way to spend an afternoon over a nice cup of coffee or tea. I highly recommend it.

I found this book to be truly well organized, as I was able to find anything I needed about the country. It was very interesting to read and the descriptions of the different parts of El Salvador were very well written.
I strongly recommend this book for people that want to travel to El Salvador or who have children that need to write a report.

Not only have the authors succeeded in producing the first full-length scholarly biography of Leventhorpe, from the ample use of rich primary sources, Cole and Foley illustrate the love and respect Leventhorpe garnered from his men. This loyalty aided Leventhorpe's command to a great victory at Whitehall (NC) against superior numbers and to victory on the first day of Gettysburg, where he fell severely wounded and was subsequently captured during the Confederate retreat days later. Following his release from Federal prison in March 1864, and the resignation of his command to recuperate from his injuries, Leventhorpe's men contacted Gov. Zeb Vance seeking assistance in procuring a fine saddle for their beloved leader.
Fine research in obscure sources are apparent throughout the narrative and in the many copious footnotes. Photographs, maps, and primary source material in the appendices enliven the book. This book is a must for anyone interested in North Carolina history and especially Civil War history. Scholars interested in the history of gold mining in the Southeast would also find this book useful.
