A great way for kids to learn about American History!
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.

This wonderful, 84 page chapter book is an excellent way to get American history into your children. It's easy to read, easy to understand, and your children will find it entertaining as well as informative. They will learn about Thomas Jefferson, Napoleon Bonaparte, Robert Livingston, James Monroe, Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Sacagawea, and their respective roles in purchasing and exploring the Louisiana Purchase. Black and white illustrations are included throughout the book to help them visualize the events. It's so good, you'll want to read it yourself and learn what you didn't learn in school! I recommend using it for family reading times for K-6th grade.

Love Texas Style
Love, Texas Style is a book of twelve short stories about Love in Texas. The eleven authors in this book each have their own unique voice, and their own way of telling the story. So, as I sat down to read the first story, it truly felt as if the author sat in the room with me. Just drinkin' her cup of coffee, sitting back, ready to talk to me about her characters. And they've all been like that. I love this book! At this point I've read almost all of the stories, and I absolutely love what I've read. These authors have truly put their hearts and souls into sharing their love of story telling, and their idea of Love, Texas Style! Rather than writing this as a collaboration, these authors all told individual, stand alone stories; stories that should not be missed. The authors in this book are all wonderful at their craft, and certainly names I will keep in mind for future reads! I highly recommend this book.

Take a Walk with Lucky Duck

The first thing that struck me about this book was the illustrations. They are absolutely wonderful. The text of the book is perfect for a beginning reader, funny story with a few words per page and the repetitive phrase of Lucky Duck. The illustrations are colorful, humorous, very detailed, and let the child see what is about to happen to the duck. The duck is not your typical yellow duck shown in most children's books. He appears to be a mallard duck ( I think that's the type ) in a vest and hat.The originality of that just makes this book even more special.I buy many beginning readers and I highly recommend this one.

I saw this on Amazon and wondered what it was like, so I picked it up.

This is an excellent book for the kids. Adapted from the movie, the book takes the reader through The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe from Lucy's point of view and interjects what she may have been thinking along the way. It also details what may have happened when she went back the second time (with Edmund following).

It also has black and white photos from the movie.

I would pick this up along with the others in the series.

An enjoyable intergenerational story

"Lulu's Birthday" combines a story by Elizabeth Fitzgerald Howard with illustrations by Pat Cummings. The book includes a short author biography which notes that the title character is based on Howard's real-life great-aunt.

The book is about Laurie and J. Matthew, two youngsters who have been spending the summer with an older woman named Lulu. Together, they all plan to celebrate Lulu's birthday. The book is full of colorful illustrations; Cummings does an effective job of depicting the images in the characters' imaginations as they plan the party.

Lulu's Lemonade describes the tale of little Lulu who only wants a drink of lemonade and how her sister and friend make award winning lemonade while she teaches about liquid measures and fractions in a simple and concise manner. This is one of the best books I've seen for explaining fractions to young children. My seven year old understood the concepts and loved making the lemonade recipe at the end which was very tasty.

Fantastic story! Guarenteed to warm your heart!

From the first page I laughed until I cried! Trisha's talent for description is awesome. I couldnt read fast enough to find out what Peggy would do next. Her character comes to life on the page and carries the reader on a hilarious as well as a suspenseful journey. Trisha skillfully blended witty, realistic dialogue with fantastic description. I felt as if I were literally there, feeling everything right along with Peggy and viewing Ireland first hand. And the ending doesnt let you down! More hysterical laughter and heartwarming drama right to the end makes this book a definate copy to keep on your shelf to read again. I'd like to think there's a little Peggy in me as she makes tracks in search of a break from her stagnant life. But as the story unfolds, I began to realize that the grass is always greener on the other side. The mother in-law bit had me in stitches! Trisha nailed it to a tee. If you want to laugh, cry and enjoy a great suspense along the way, I highly recommend Making Tracks by Trisha!

I have bought about eight copies of this wonderful cookbook to give to friends after buying one for myself. It contains beautiful photos of the Oklahoma governor's mansion and delectable food made from recipes served at the mansion. It makes a wonderful gift because as well as having recipes you'll use over and over, you also get an Oklahoma history review. It's delightful to look through even if you never use it as a cookbook.
