I remember loving this book as a little girl, so, of course I bought it for my own children when I came across it as an adult.
The story is timeless, and my kids enjoy it just as much as I did!

This book is so fun. Kelly has a cabin made from a cardboard box. I once had a house made from a cardboard box, so it was fun to imagine Kelly's. Hers had pictures and curtains. Mine didn't. It was just a pretend house, and I imagined pictures and curtains.

I like the picture on the book. It made me imagine Kelly's cabin and make it more real.

The exciting part was when Winnie was going to get the outlaw that was coming to the cabin. Kelly thought Winnie could handle him. Winnie knocked the outlaw down and jumped on him. The rest of the story is funny.

I liked Kelly's Cabin very much. I think I liked it because I could imagine the cabin. It was a funny book to read.

This book goes beyond the contemporary stereotypes that go with the legacy of JFK. The author deals with the subject of the life and times of President Kennedy in a way that is sure to interest both the academic and casual reader.

I bought this book for my 11 year old daughter who has a keen interest in history. I think I enjoyed it as much as she did. I highly recommend it for any child interested in recent American History, but the price is a bit steep. I'd love to have the whole series of these books if the price ever comes down!

An excellent first in a series of great history books

This is a good starter to the authors' series of oral history books on Kennedy, Nixon, and Reagan. I hope to see one on GW Bush and Clinton 20 years from now when people can speak more candidly.

Anyway--I think the other two books are far better, simply because JFK wasn't a very interesting person. But there is some great historical insight here.

The Reagan and Nixon books give you way more detail on how the presidency works, and how each respective president ran his White House. Plus, the scandals were juicier and they had more time to leave their mark.

A Great Way to Improve Your Vocabulary In Preparation for The SAT Test!!!
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-12-06
I think there are two ways to inprove your vocabulary....or maybe three: 1) Read literature written with an "educated vocabulary" and either circle the new words or make a word list of the new words---books like those written by Charles Dickens "A Tale of Two Cities" or "David Copperfield" for example, or, 2) go through a dictionary from front to back 10 times for repetition---alittle hard for most of us to do, right?, or 3) Work through a work-book like this one that will teach you words selected by the author. I think this is a very good book for doing #3 above....use a word work-book. Two things are for sure, the ONLY way to learn new words and remember them is to put the words into your "long term memory". And, the only way for the average person to put words into their "long term memory" is through "REPETITION"---Going back again and again to your "word list" or to your circled words in the book to remind youself and test youself on the words and their meanings. This book will help identify the "new words" you need to learn and it will provide for "repetition" of those words so the words will go into your "long term memory". And....and....then you'll know some "edicated" words to use on your teachers so they'll think you're "smart"! :o) But, seriously, one way tests test for "smartness" is to give a vocabulary test. The theory is that "if a person knows alot of words they are smart". This may or may not be true but that's the way The SAT and other tests test for intelligence. Thus, this book is very worth your time and effort. Get a copy of the book, impress your teacher, and maybe you'll be admitted into a college someday so then you can become a teacher yourself who teaches these words to students. Or, you could become like Frank McCourt, a world famous author. One thing I am sure of though is that having an "educated vocabulary" WILL permit you to do things you would not be able to do without it. Any comments? boland7214@aol.c

The Hardy Boy's have a real mystery to solve here. A new football star comes into town and try's to still the show (Terry Golden). He is getting by with wverthing and people are getting hurt. Joe Hardy is on the field, " The quarterback finally threw the ball to Joe and terry golden cuts accross the field to catch the ball and just when the ball was about to get there Terry Golden hit Joe right in the back", So the Hardy Boy's have to find out what Terry Goldens deal is. This is going to be one good mystery. This story is set at Bayport Highschool. Joe and Jeff Hardy are two young boys who have to solve a mystery of a football superstar who is trying to get people hurt and no one else is doing anything about it.
There was all kinds of good things about this book. The author (Franklin Dixon) dis alot of good things with this book. He used great details and made you keep wanting to know the ending. The comparison to other books and genres is ok. It is one of the better Hardy Boy's mystery's. Mystery books to me is better than any love stories, action, or just about any other kind of book. This work compared to other work by this author is better than the others. It trys to get you in to the story better than the other one's. Also Franklin Dixon use's great language. He uses word that everyone can understand.
This book was a great book. I would advise you to read it if you like football and a good mystery to go along with it. This book is very easy to read. Me myself read the book chapters at a time. I say anyone can read this book and like it. It had me wonderign throughout the whole book. So if you want a good mystery to I would advise you to get and read this book.

My seven year old daughter just loves these books. She is not only reading more, she is ENJOYING reading more. These stories have been updated in places to make them more relevant to the 21st century, but the great stories remain the same. My only complaint is that there is no "box-Set" available to make buying them much easier.
