Yoga for KidsReview Date: 2000-06-05
I Can't Believe It's Yoga for KidsReview Date: 2000-05-11
This well illustrated book is clearly written on spacious pages. The real value of knowing yoga in today's fast-paced world is presented in specific ways. For example, positions for warming up or cooling down in sports such as gymnastics, soccer, snow/skate boarding, surfing, wrestling, etc. are presented.
Other chapters of interest are on double yoga (mirror-imaging with another), yoga games, and relaxation technics for stress-reduction in test taking, social situations, and competition and/or performance situations.
Iwould highly recommend this book for families with children.

PRAYING TO GODReview Date: 2006-07-08
I am not a parent but I am finding a lot of useful infomation.
Who better to talk to than "GOD"
This book was a comfort to me after the loss of mother.Review Date: 1997-07-11
At the time of the funeral, my Pastor's wife gave me this book for comfort. Little did she know how she helped me.
The section entitled, "The New Dimension" became the prayers I prayed both for me and my mother.
When I read "The Message", I smiled through my tears, It was as if she knew my mother and had been in her house! She wrote such wonderful memories.
The second paragraph reminded me that my mother too, was ready to go Home, just as if she was ready to go to church on Sunday.
"The Lesson of Loss" reminded me that there were those who were ready to comfort me if I would let them. My grief became easier
to bear and my tears started me on the healing process.
"Be Still and Know" helped me realize that my mother was healed now and no longer suffering.
And "The New Dimension of Love" thrilled me in knowing that I would see mother again in heaven.
I am now a Pastor's wife and I have tried to find this book to give to several of our congregation who have suffered loss.
I triumphed over my grief with the simple prayers and passages in this book. I want to share it with anyone who has suffered a loss, especially of a mother.
Thank you, Marjorie Holmes, for giving me strength.
A Wonderful BookReview Date: 2000-05-06
The book has a wonderful way of helping you look at everyday events, and see the blessings in everything. It reminds us that we can always go to God - whether the need is great or small, or just to praise him for our blessings.

A Comment From the AuthorReview Date: 2007-11-18
I am the author and just wanted to take a minute to thank you for clicking on my new title and considering a purchase!
While the book is geared to the K-5 level, as someone who has worked with K-12 please know the activities can be adapted for use with older students- particularly the middle school level.
Also, I'd like to emphasize what a good fit the book is for the homeschool community. While working in museums, I was always thrilled to see the frequency with which homeschool families made museums and other community sites a key part of the curriculum. If you are currently homeschooling, I think you'll find the projects within this work will be a good fit to your home curriculum and of course national standards!
Best to you and happy shopping!

I think this is an important topic for adults to read as well as teensReview Date: 2008-04-13
I think the types of examples the author sites in the book are very common, and yet I learnt a lot, for I often let myself be persuaded by arguments that strike an emotional chord first, without examining the logic behind them. \
A good intro bookReview Date: 2004-05-02
The explanations use clear, simple language that would be appropriate for high-school reading levels and above. As a graduate student, I found this to be an easy but engaging read.
I have two complaints about the book. First, Engel uses many examples from the real world--which is good--but the fallacies in these examples tend to be too obvious. It would be good to start out with obviously fallacious arguments and then move onto more subtle/complicated examples. Second, there are exercises at the end of each chapter where the reader can put his/her new knowledge to work, but answers are given for only a few of the questions in these exercises, which was frustrating.
In summary, this is a good, easily-read introduction to logic. It both prepares and encourages the reader to continue studying logical fallacies, but don't expect to be an expert at identifying fallacies when you're done with this book.
The best book about good vs. unfair rhetoric I've seen.Review Date: 1999-10-08
The ONLY college textbook that I STILL READ!Review Date: 2006-04-25
THANK YOU Dr. Engel!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, ad infinum!
My degree work in math, physics, and fine art, paled in their importance to what I learned from Dr.Engel's succinct discourse of informal fallacies. I finished in 1989 and as the tag line stated, I still read and proseletyze from this book-- in fact, I am writing and producing a radio show on informal fallacies based upon WITH GOOD REASON. The show is slated as THINK AGAIN! and will premiere within the next 3 months on RBNLive.com. (today is 4/25/86 ).
I am replacing my well worn, weathered, rubber-banded copy of WITH GOOD REASON with a brand spanking new copy... I encourage EVERYONE to read this book, and more importantly, lobby all school boards to make this book a mandatory course prior to graduating from high school-- yes-- HIGH SCHOOL! Our children need this book.
**If anyone out there in the internet ether knows how to contact Dr.Engel, please contact me, Barbara, at RBN (800)313-9443. Thank you!
BUY IT! (And donate as many as possible to the school districts in your area!!) This is serious business- no one is teaching kids how to think or discern "what is reasonable and what is not".

Do youself a favor and read thisReview Date: 2004-01-23
This book is great. Informative, sometimes humorous, and written to the grad. student in easy-to-understand language, the author scored a hit with this book.
The sidebars, where new/seasoned counselors offer their opinions, experience, and advice is, by itself, worth the money for the book. Further, each chapter is broken down into logical sub-sections where the author gets "right to it" and doesn't mince words or phrase them as if he's a research scientist hell bent on scaring new students.
Suggested reading lists, at the end of each chapter, are filled with a variety of books, not just didactic volumes.
A nice touch is the author's "personal" chapter to the reader toward the end of the book. In this section, he mentions what they don't tell you in graduate school...how you might lose friendships or even your marriage might change or crack (due to your inevitable emotional growth), how you will never know enough, and how you are going to feel like you are failing in a big way.
Honest, clear, succinct, and friendly. What more could a student want?
