Thoroughly researched and most enjoyable to read, this book tells the story of the Canadian Submarine Service from the first day of the Great War to the present. Ferguson uses dialogue and one fictional chapter to bring the tale alive and ensures there is a strong focus on the submariners themselves. A must read for all naval history buffs!

I enjoyed this book of poetry by this author and about Jamaica. One because it is my homeland and two because the poetry was actually very good. I would love to see a 2nd edition or another book soon. The author is my father and this book gave me the impression that Thru Jimmy's Eyes
was written out of a passion for his country and his family.

Very Useful

This book is very useful for anyone who is a history major or is thinking of majoring in history. The first section outlines some general, but important information. It talks about writing an effective resume. It also discusses different steps to take to become successful depending on what stage in education you are in (high school, college, or graduate school). There are interviews with different people who are already working in fields related to history which are useful. The second section, which is much larger than the first, describes 35 different careers that a history degree can be of use in. The careers range from corporate jobs, government jobs, teaching, and museum jobs. The book describes many different aspects of the career, such as expected salaries, how fast that segment of the job-market is growing, what level of education and other skills are needed for the job, etc. Overall, this book is a great resource for people looking to use their history degrees to make a living. It also provides other online and print sources that could be useful in the job hunt.

While in the Bahamas, we bought a copy of Under the Sunday Tree, with paintings by a Bahamian primitive named Mr. Amos Ferguson and accompanying poems by Eloise Greenfield. We bought it to give to a young friend, but it may be too good to give away. Fortunately, it's available here at Amazon.... The poems really make the book, and the text is simple enough that it's accessible to young readers.

praise for Orville Hodge

A heart-warming story. A story with a slice of American family history with Orville displaying some good ethical characteristics. To see him being whipped and then come back later in life and extend grace to his uncle by paying for the farm...what a great allusion to Christ's gift to us.
I particularly enjoyed reading through Orville's recollections of farm life growing up--the big breakfasts, the malted milkshakes, stealing away to play ball. Great side story about Nellie Swanson-what a great read.
Anyway, I can't think of another book that I've read in a long time that focuses on family-values, relationships, honesty, etc. instead of killing, sex, foul language. A great story-teller.
