I read How To Heal A Painful Relationship and was eager to learn more about the negative issues I have on myself. Miracles Are Guaranteed is the next step to emotional wellness. This gentleman has simple text that is to the point. Many truths are told about the ugliness we carry needlessly. This is a Genuine Good Read. A Miracle is the statement for Mr. Ferguson.

Miriam "Ma" Ferguson: First Woman Governor Of Texas by Judy Alter is the amazing biography of Miriam Ferguson and her remarkable journey to the governorship of the great state Texas. Following her intriguing life and many able pursuits, Miriam "Ma" Ferguson tells of her considered agreement to run for governor and restore her husband's name and familial honor after his impeachment during his second term as Texas' governor, and her own two term progress from 1925 to 1927 and from 1933 to 1935. A highly valued addition to school library "American History & Biography" collections, and "Texas History" reading lists, Miriam "Ma" Ferguson is very strongly recommended as an informative and inspiring introduction to the life and times of the Ferguson family for all young readers intrigued by Miriam Ferguson's encouraging and accomplished life.

This is a blow by blow story of impeachment and also a story of a woman that took her husbands place as Govenor after he was impeached.

In this book Texas's first woman Govenor Ma Fergison at last gets her due.

Ma Fergison was a house hold word in Texas during the twenties's and thirties's

There is no other book that tells the secrets about this much disputed and much malighed administration. The Legislation tried to impeach Ma, but she would not let then call the session.

This book captivated me and kept my attention it is so amazing that the impeachment of the Govenor had so many paralls to the impeachment of President Clinton.

Ma put her desk in the capitol next to the desk of her husband...Texas was refered to as having two Govenors for the price of one.

Ma okyed a horse racing track in Arlington Texas because her Husband Jim liked to play the ponies.

I have over 30 volumes of cookbooks but this one is the one I have always gone back to every time. The recipes are simple home made affair type items. I have owned this book since I was 18 years old. One of the first books I purchased through a book club. I used it throughout the 30+ years I was married and still do today. No pictures to disillusion you with just lots of recipes that give you down home goodness.

My mother used this book when she cooked for her husband and five children back in the 6o's and 70's. I used it and still use it with my family. It is envaluable. Every woman who enjoys preparing meals for her family, not just getting food on the table, should read this book and keep it on hand as a reminder of her value and impact as a wife and mother.

This book deserves to be re-issued, suitably up-dated for the 2009 GCSEs. Of all the books I have used since I started teaching GCSE History in 1989, this is the only one to combine the right blend of factual detail (essential for grammar-school pupils), analysis and eye-catching organisation on the page. It does not dumb down, but at the same time it is more user-friendly than the alternatives. I was saddened to find that it is no longer avialable.

Happy and sad yarns of a depression-era southern family

Ferguson does not come across as a seasoned writer, but word has it he was advised by a confidant to re-write it to a child's level. While children could get a kick out of the stories, I enjoyed this book as an adult and could see many others liking it, too. I did not grow up during that time, but the heart and thoughts he puts on paper make the reader feel as if he or she is right there with him and his family. They start off getting forced out of Alabama by moonshiners, because Ferguson's father was a state agent. They end up in a quite different world, where both heartbreak and humor abound. Read this book no matter how old or young you are. You will not be disappointed.
