This is a rare and beautiful book. The publishers are the only listed "authors". There was no credit given for the lovely
illustrations. The printing is quality, as is the paper quality. This is an 1887 publication worthy to be in any private collection.

Clear explanation of early Multics design

Organick describes the design of Multics, a mainframe timesharing system that was one of the most influential software efforts
of the late 1960s. The book describes the internals of the Multics system with a clarity and thoroughness that set a standard
for other writers on operating systems. The book describes Multics as it was planned in the late 1960s, before it had been
released to users, and it describes the version of the system that ran on the GE-645 computer. Multics became a commercial
product from Honeywell on a substantially enhanced machine and continued to evolve for 20 years, so readers should understand
that they are reading about the system designers' intentions and plans, and not necessarily about features of the commercial
system. (disclosure: I worked on Multics in the 60s and helped review drafts of some chapters of this book before publication.)

I discovered this series while browsing in my local used bookstore. What a pleasant surprise this book was!
Eleanor Roosevelt travels to England during World War II to meet the Kind and Queen, and to visit U.S. servicemen (including her son). This trip is actually historical fact; Mrs. Roosevelt did in fact visit Britain during this time.
Here's the fiction part: there is a murder in Buckingham Palace. Since this is the fifth book in the series, it's already established the Mrs. Roosevelt is adept at solving mysteries, so when she expresses interest in helping solve the murder, the officials are happy to let her.
The murder victim was an odious, cruel, and rather depraved man who was murdered during a dinner party he was hosting. The guests, oddly enough, were all enemies of his and they all had their reasons for wanting him dead. The officials are baffled as to how he was murdered in his room while his guests in the next room claimed to hear and see nothing.
Without giving the actual plot away, suffice to say that Mrs. Roosevelt helps figure out the culprit and the motive.
This book is fun, intriguing, and easy to read. Highly recommended! I can't wait to read the others in the series.

This is, among other things, one of few available positive viewpoints about Variable Universal Life insurance product (Ch.16)
availabe for investors with the objective of tax advantage. The subject of VUL is mudded with misapprehansion and misunderstanding
even among seasoned financial planners. W.E. Donogue has the courage to stand above the crowd of sceptics with solid logic
and helpfull hints. So, I can recommend this reading to anyone interested in the subject.

Elliott Leyton's book is an easily read book that draws an understandable conclusion to each and every study in the book. The
studies are of kids in correctional center for youth and their lived experience within their families and society is always
unfortunate to put it politely. I too am sick of the apologists who blame every illegal act on a criminals upbringing but
if we could stop the progression in childhood and recognize it for what it is like Leyton has done there really might be a
chance for rehablilitation. Teenagers are tough but not yet a lost cause. Read it!!!

This book of poems is spoken by 23 children (one poems each), their ages ranging from about 8-13. Both girls and boys are
the speakers of the poems. The subects range all across the gamut of pre-teen and early teen experience. The poet himself,
while Japan's best-known and most widely-read post-war poet, is also a translator of Mother Goose, Peanuts and children's
poems abd stories, and thus has a whimsical side that is evident in some of the poems. et himsel
