This is an excellent fifth edition of a Diving Medical Classic Text. It should have a place on the shelves of any person requiring diving medical reference from time to time, and also on the shelves of all Diving Medical Specialists for more in-depth reading.

I have the four volumes of "The Best of Bob & Ray," and this one is my favorite. The great classic routine "VCR Children" is on it as well as three others of what I think are their best routines: "Transatlantic Bridge," "South Quoddy Airlines," and the "Club of the Month Club." Can't explain it here--you'll just have to listen and laugh till your nose runs.

Which Is It -- Business or Pleasure?

This is IT!! The 12th and final book in the 2006 Harlequin Silhouette Desire series - The Elliotts:

BEYOND THE BOARDROOM by MAUREEN CHILD is Shane Elliott's story of love, romance, intrigue and business! Can true love overshadow everything including a man bent on winning in a business competition? Will it? Can Shane give up the one thing he and every other Elliott in the running for the TOP CEO spot desires for the sake of love? Will he? The mystery is revealed in the DECEMBER 2006 - #1765 issue. TO FIND OUT THE ANSWERS, YOU MUST READ THE BOOK! DON'T BE LEFT IN THE DARK AS TO WHO GETS THE SPOT AND AS TO WHETHER SHANE GIVES IN TO HIS HEART'S DESIRE.

Beyond The Boardroom is the finale to the awe inspiring Elliott clan and the many lives they have touched and affected along the way. I really enjoyed all of the stories and the way the writers, one after the other, followed along and let the readers know what is happening and what transpired before. Every book can stand along, but it is much more rewarding when read as a series. The writers are to be commended for giving the readers another story of family life and the issues of every day matters. Good reading!

As a Director of Religious Education in a large parish, this book has become an invaluable tool in planning our intergenerational faith formation gatherings. We have had one once a month since September and I have used some aspect of this book every time.

It's very user friendly and you can adapt it to your own circumstances.

Chandler at the top of his game

I'm not much into crime fiction, Bunker and Ellroy excepted but Chandler's prose - oft imitated but seldom bettered - still rates as some of the best in this (or any other) genre. So take the writing, add the drawl and empathy that Elliott Gould (see also The Long Goodbye)brings to the proceedings and you have a classic recording. The packaging is tacky, the sound reflects the date it was recorded but the end result still delivers. Trust me - this is one to load up on your phone, iPod or good old fashioned cd player.

Nearly seventy years after it was published, The Big Sleep is still an interesting detective story with an intriguing style. This was Raymond Chandler's first published novel and it made him a celebrity. In an old interview I read somewhere, Chandler said he was going against the grain of the then-popular British detective novels that climaxed with the gathering of all the suspects into a single room while the detective revealed his brilliant solution to the crime. He meant Philip Marlow to be a more realistic and gritty detective. He succeeded. Marlow became America's favorite private eye, both in print and on the silver screen.

As I read the book, two thoughts came to me. First, the Chandler style has been copied and parodied so much, that you can easily forget that this was the original. The second is that although the novel was written at the time as a modern story, it now reads like someone wrote it today as period literature. This adds to the book's charm, sort of like the Chinatown or The Sting.

Raymond Chandler goes in and out of fashion, but if you want to curl up with a good mystery written by one of the masters, you can't go wrong with The Big Sleep.

This is a great book. I could not put it down until I was finished. It definately put me into a small town in Texas during the 1950's. The plot of the story is intriguing and flows easily from one event to another keeping the reader wondering what will happen next. The characters were brought to life in a unique way and I felt that I knew each one personally, hating some of them and feeling sorry for others. The ending has a very good twist. The author writing style reminded me of John Grisham. This is definately a book to tell you friends about. I can't wait for the author to write another book.

"Feel I have met Wild Bill through this book ~ Copeland"

There was something about "I'm a peaceable man", when Bill Elliott would look you in the eye and say that line. Of course we fans knew him as "Wild Bill", and when you went to see him on the big screen, you got exactly what the marquee said...plenty of thrills, adventure and loaded with action. My personal favorites were the "Red Ryder Series" or "The Great Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok" an ongoing character that would appear in many films to come...as Hickok and Wild Bill Saunders. Elliott was a natural for the western, his riding abilities and fight scenes were the caliber of Buck Jones and Bob Steele. Seems the more films he made the better his acting and scripts were.

Bobby Copeland's book on "Bill Elliott:The Peaceable Man" is chuck full of answers to all the questions his fans had from early on. The forward by actress and co-star Peggy Stewart gives us a real insight of the man who was so peaceable. Plus other stars Gabby Hayes (his sidekick), Dub Taylor (another sidekick), Roy Barcroft (king of the badmen), Terry Frost (another badman), Tom London (a favorite of mine, did a lot of westerns with Wild Bill and many others), Marie Windsor (appeared in the film "Hellfire", a big favorite of mine) and Tex Ritter (teamed with him in many films)...all have expressed the same sentiments, Wild Bill was one of best-liked people in films. What you saw on the screen is what he really was...a great human being.

Copeland's coverage of the life and times of Elliott is very touching and entertaining. In his book there is His Biography...In the Comic Books...Ranking His Popularity...They Knew Bill Elliott...His Horses...They're Talking About Bill Elliott...Personal Life...Bill Elliott's Obituary...His Principal Sidekicks...Fred Harmon(Cowboy Artist, Creator of Red Ryder)...Bill Elliott Look-Alike(Ronnie Aycoth)...The Real Wild Bill vs. The Reel Wild Bill...Non-Starring Films of Elliott...More About the Author's Favorites...About The Author. There are many photos of stills, behind the scenes and personal pictures. My favorite is a rare photo of Gene Autry, Bill Elliott, Roy Rogers and the president of Republic Studios Herbert Yates during the peak of the studio.

I found myself being transported back in time, Mr. Copeland's book has opened my eyes to what a wonderful unselfish person Bill Elliott was...only wish I could have met him. He was one of a kind...a peaceable man!

A great book for medical and non-medical readers
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 10 total.

This book describes the transformation of diabetes from a rapidly-fatal illness to a chronic one with a host of new associated problems. Though written by a physician, the book focuses on this transformation from patients' perspectives. In addition, it emphasizes the impact of diabetes on not just the health of individuals but also on their day-to-day lives.

The highlight of this book is the collection of stories of individual patients and families. Drawing from letters and other patient records at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Feudtner vividly details the lives of diabetic patients in the 20th century. Of particular interest is a patient who corresponds with his physicians using self-drawn cartoons, a number of which are included in the book.

While this book will be of special interest to diabetic patients and physicians, I recommend it to any reader intersted in the interplay between modern medicine and the people it aims to serve.
