A fun, silly, action-packed storyReview Date: 2006-03-25
As it turns out, Evangeline's father has a second cousin twice removed named Melvin Mudd. Being a not-so-nice man, he has a mink ranch called Mudd's Marvelous Minks. And he is about to turn all of his marvelous minks into marvelous ballet costumes! (I told you he wasn't nice.) And all because his weird wife, India Terpsichore, wants to put on a ballet starring herself! Evangeline must rescue the minks and turn them loose. But how? Melvin and India surely will recognize her when she appears at their door, having visited them before.
While on their very doorstep, Evangeline decides to disguise herself as a reporter. When the door to Melvin's house opens, the evil Ratsputin and Alexy Alexy, a boy about her age, appear. Ratsputin eyes her suspiciously and Alexy Alexy looks very sad (as you will see from the wonderful illustrations). Luckily, when India and Melvin meet Evangeline, now disguised as a reporter, they do not recognize her. But Ratsputin knows her real name and watches her like a beady-eyed hawk.
One night, Alexy Alexy suddenly appears outside Evangeline's window. He got there by simply jumping up from the ground floor! Alexy can jump higher then any other ballet dancer; Ratsputin has held Alexy practically in bondage, and makes him jump and dance all over the world. All the money, of course, goes to Ratsputin.
Evangeline and Alexy team up and hatch a wild plan to save the minks. Alexy leads Evangeline to the mink farm, but they find the cages open and empty! Where are the minks? They soon discover that mean Melvin Mudd has played a trick on them and the animal rights group. The minks are somewhere else. But where? Evangeline suddenly figures it out, and with Alexy, they find the mink ranch and free the minks. How they do all this makes for a funny, silly, action-packed story.

Small book packed with inspirational ideas....Review Date: 2007-06-28
This book is part of a series that Mary Engelbreit issued a few years ago. This book series is comprised of these nifty little books filled with great ideas, depending on the topic. The photos in the book are absolutely amazing, just as all of M.E.'s books have wondeful photos. Ideas are easy to follow. Very inspirational.

Finding true love againReview Date: 2002-07-09
Deedee Hamilton and Ryan MacAllister meet at his sister's twins' birthday party. Now Deedee and Ryan have known each other for several years, but neither have really gotten to know each other due to Ryan's cold, aloof manner (as a result of his wife being killed in an emergency room two years before). Both have deceased spouses, and both believe that they're happy with the way they've been living their lives so far. Yet it troubles Deedee seeing Ryan being so alone, so distant, so she resolves to get him to live again. They start to spend time together, and both become instantly extremely attracted to each other. (Yet they deny it and claim it's only lust.) After having a *wonderful* date together, they make love at Deedee's and the next morning agree to be friends and lovers. Nothing more, nothing else. No strings attached. They also agree to reevaluate their lives since both are secretively miserable with the current state of their lives. (Ryan had resigned from the police force after his wife's death. Deedee wants to start a family, but is a widow.)
FRIENDS, LOVERS...AND BABIES! was a truly enjoyable book about two people finding each other and deciding to live again. Funny, lighthearted, and a quick read. I got through it in two days. The fastest I've ever read a category romance. I was a little annoyed at how Deedee and Ryan "muse" a lot over things, and how Ryan was constantly "running his hands down his face." I *almost* put down the book when Ryan confronted Deedee after finding out she was pregnant. I was almost too uncomfortable with the accusations he was throwing at her. Especially the comment how she just used him for "stud service." But, overall, a wonderful read.
