The Sunshiny Face Review Date: 2006-05-30
Perhaps you are low on happiness? Perhaps you seek meaning in a world of war and sadness? Mr. Happy is for you. Will he make you happy? Perhaps not. Yet he will teach you the ways of the happy man, and that is all you can ask of a Mr. Men book. They are small books that tell a small story, yet somehow, they are more vast than the ocean.
This is Life.Review Date: 2005-04-24
It really is just Life. Joy, just plain, simple, happy joy. I will always keep this book with me. Im confident that it is the single best way to live a nice, drawn out and good life. So simple of a lesson, such a primordial concept is woven into this book, it really is the one true good book.
And really, to everyone under our bright star, I wish a sunny trees and rolling grassy fields under kind yellow sunlight.
My life is attributed to the Sun, Joy, Life and Mr. Happy

Mr. Tickle does more than make you laugh unwillingly....Review Date: 2006-05-30
I know, I know. You are saying, "But I don't like to be tickled. And I don't want my children to feel that tickling is socially appropriate."
I had similar reservations before approaching Mr. Tickle, but I ordered it anyway. Mr. Tickle gets his just rewards, let me assure you, but in the meantime, he seduces readers into the world of Mr. Men. He does not just Tickle the people in his town. No, that is more...Sesame Street (The Tickler, The Man Who Starts with the Letter T, Volume 13, I think, of The Sesame Street Library).
Mr. Tickle helps the people of his town BOND TOGETHER. He is that slippery sort of antagonist who acts as a protagonist. Britain called for a hero, and Mr. Tickle answered the phone.
#2 Mr. Men book....Review Date: 2006-11-17
The best part of the book is the game my son invented by asking me to tickle him every time someone in the book gets tickled. And by the last page he's ran of the bed hiding and giggling. You'll understand if you've got the book, it's got a GREAT ending!
If your kids like Mr. Men books and you don't have Mr. Tickle, what are you waiting for????

To start with Abbott created the perfect architectural record with the 1935 to 1939 WPA sponsored project when she shot just over three hundred photos of the city (you can see two hundred of these in 'Berenice Abbott: Changing New York', ISBN 1565845560) and Levere has retaken over a hundred of these with eighty-one appearing in his book.
Unlike other inferior books of the genre Levere has taken the utmost care with his project. Not only using the same type of camera and lens as Abbott but waiting until the same season and time of day to freeze the moment six decades later. A fascinating page of technical details at the back of the book explains more. The eighty-one photos are divided into four chapters with the majority taken in Manhattan. On each spread Abbott's photo is on the left and Levere's opposite, Bonnie Yochelson writes a straightforward caption for all of the images.
With the help of 200dpi printing, quality paper and elegant design these photos (and the book) look just stunning. The perfect photobook!

A Before and After Look at New YorkReview Date: 2006-03-29
Sixty years later Douglas Levere went back to the same sites of 100 of Abbotts photographs and took another picture with the same angle, the same view, and usually even the same time of day (to get the same sun angle) of the same scene.
The result is this book, 'New York Changing' which shows these pictures arranged next to each other. That way, the only differrence between the pictures is the changes that have come about in the basic structure of the city.
This is a beautiful coffee table book, except that seeing one set of pictures makes you want to turn to the next set, and you've soon gone through the whole book.
Highly recommended.

Wonderful bookReview Date: 2008-02-11
Not only it is physically well done (thick glossy paper, full colored images and state of the art design), but it has a very complete content organized by clinical features, histopathological characteristics, treatment and prognosis and so on. It has also got an appendix with differential diagnosis.
To be an OMF Pathology work it has a very good OMF Medicine approach.
It is a must not only for undergraduate, but for postgraduates as well.

Excellent book on various quality topicsReview Date: 2001-11-19
In particular, the second chapter, on the RSI Approach, is a nice addition as this is something that most practitioners of quality subjects will not find elsewhere and the general subject matter is generally that which is avoided in books of this type. Another topic often avoided in these books is that of usability and accessibility concerns and yet these are covered here in good detail chapter six.
In general, I think the book offered a great amount of detail just where it was needed and gave a lot of "mini best-practices" in each chapter with the use of bulleted lists to highlight specific points. The detail of the book extends to various topics, like performance, compatibility, usability, and security - all topics that are of high concern in the current world of making qualitly Web systems that customers and user respond to. The appendices in the book are also excellent. The "Test Tool Evaluations" section will be a welcome addition to those who wish there are more concise evaluation forms for automated tool solutions.
I highly recommend this book to quality assurance/testing professionals, quality assurance managers, and even those who work more in the project management and development spheres. Those latter will get benefit from the book because the book manages to highlight topics of concern to both groups and also gives them insight into the quality aspects of the projects and products that are developed within an organization.
Covers all of the major issues and factorsReview Date: 2001-09-23
All of the major elements of web-engineering and quality are addressed, including SECURITY (this is the first test or quality book that fully acknowledges the relationship between quality and security, which is a cornerstone of the Reliability-Availability-Support triad for systems in production), PERFORMANCE (I especially liked this section because it got into the guts of performance and scalability), COMPATIBILITY (essential for ensuring that your system works with the world of users over whom you have no control - web-based systems can and usually do extend into the great unknown), and USABILITY (this will make or break a commercial web site).
Aside for the complete coverage of all of the important topics that need to be considered, and the life cycle approach to quality and testing this book contained a real gem: RSI approach to use cases. RSI (Requirements-Service-Interface) is an interesting and highly useful approach to use cases. Some key strengths of using the RSI paradigm is that you will ensure traceability between requirements and the services and interfaces that are implemented. Moreover, this approach partitions services and interfaces, which allows you to manage the complexities when developing a test strategy and associated test cases. To me the chapter on RSI was worth the price of the book.
Overall, this is a solid book that covers testing, as well as the larger domain of systems quality. It gives some unique insights of issues and factors related to testing, but is not solely about web testing. It should be read by all key team members including requirements analysts, architects, developers, test engineers and project managers *before* a web project is initiated.
A must-have for any web systems testerReview Date: 2002-01-19
It covers how to most efficiently model a web application using a specific use case approach, in addition it covers how to test for security, performance, usability of a web site. The book has been very useful in our testing efforts.

One of the best books on Sea Kayaking that I have ever read!Review Date: 2007-03-17
Great bookReview Date: 2006-08-08
He gives a very informative overview of the sport and its locations from polar kayaking to the tropics. He also gives a reassuring overview of a sea kayak's `sea worthiness' (dependent on the paddler) explaining some hurricane force winds he has personally endured in a kayak. He also discusses at length the issue of kayaking alone and concludes that one can kayak safely alone, in fact he even suggests kayaking in numbers can give a false sense of security.
Dowd discusses buying a kayak and refreshingly advises `keep in my mind your original image - how you saw yourself with your boat' which I found to be excellent advice.
This book is a very good introduction to sea kayaking and an interesting read. It is also a bible-like source of information. As Paul Theroux said on the jacket "quiet simply the best book available on this wonderful sport"

GREAT STORY - TERRIFIC CHARACTERS!Review Date: 2003-02-16
Amber Laughton proves that the more you keep secrets the more embroiled your life becomes. But hey, what a great character she turned out to be.
Gideon has a story behind him and he turns out to be a great friend to Derek even though they had just met 300 miles before the story starts.
Even with the vagueness of the scene where Derek gets shot, I am surprised he stayed in the saddle long enough to make it home let alone up to his bedroom. Wonderful care-giving action and emotions with Derek's healing.
Beau does need a lady friend to heal his heart and soul. Was really glad to hear that Nathan showed up. Loved the shoot-out with the KKK.
Great story - GREATLY RECOMMENDED --M -- good addition to your library.
Wonderful Debut!Review Date: 2002-03-27
I'm not sure if a sequel is planned, but I heartily hope the powers that be will let Ms. Douglas write a book for Gideon, Nathan and Beau. These guys are as HOT as Derek!
Excellent novel!Review Date: 2004-01-17
Amber knows what it is like to be alone in the world - she had virtually no one left. Her father was dead, and so was her protector, Richard Fontaine. She buries her hurt and painful memories in her heart, trying to appear indifferent to the world. She soon realizes, however, that she is hardly indifferent to Derek, despite the mental torment from his own pain. Can this pair face their demons and conquer them, or will they always be ruled by hurt and pain?
I really, really liked this book. Amber and Derek were both amazing characters. In so many romance novels, the characters fall flat or are two-dimensional, but that is definitely not the case in this book! Both of the primary characters were rich in detail and complex individuals. The cast of secondary characters was also incredibly awesome - Gideon and Beau both deserve their own books, and I will be very disappointed if I never hear from either again! The devastation, emotional and physical, from the Civil War was so obvious in this book, something that is often overlooked in other books. People didn't come home from the Civil War without mental baggage, and this book portrays that in an incredible, believable fashion.
This is an amazing debut - I couldn't get over how the author could just get inside of the characters' heads and manage to beautifully convey each character's motivation, thoughts, and feelings. Even though I didn't agree with some of the characters' choices, I could perfectly understand why they chose to act a certain way, because the author made sure to let the reader know what the characters' thought processes were. My only criticism is a couple of loose ends left in the book, but it's a perfect set up for a sequel (please, please, please let there be a sequel!!!). I really can't sing this book's praises loud enough or long enough - it's an awesome book!! This book easily earns five stars, and I really hope that I read more from this author in the future!

Weird Western Tales had nothing on this book.Review Date: 2003-06-27
A helluva fun readReview Date: 2000-06-20
Highly recommended.
Twisted, Twisted, TwistedReview Date: 2002-03-21
The book contains 12 stories, all of them good, none of them bad. But of course, some stand out against the others. Jack Ketchum's "Luck" is a great little campfire tale, Rick Hautala's "The Screaming Head" is about a horrifying folklore legend that comes to life and Yvonne Navarro's "Divine Justice" plays with the idea of heaven and hell in a Western setting.
But there are three great masterpieces of the bizarre in this book. Richard Laymon's "The Hangman" is a classic ghost story mixed with the elements of the Western tale and ends up being a great, satisfying read. Lawrence Walsh's "The Devil's Crapper" is a funny and twisted story that will make you laugh with every word and every sentence. And Adam-Troy Castro's "The Magic Bullet Theory" (the longest story in the book) is an epic tale that is brilliantly written and highly satisfying.
And if that's not enough for you, there are also stories by Edward Lee, M. Christian, Nancy A. Collins and a very twisted, very disturbing story by Robert Devereaux. Skull Full Of Spurs has it all; horror, action, fantasy, humour... It has something to please every reader of the genre. This is one collection you'll want to come back to time and time again. So saddle up part'ner and get ready to be entertained!
"A round up worth reading"Review Date: 2000-06-17
This book is a must-have for your next camping trip to scare the dickens out of the kids. Read them "The Hangman" by Richard Laymon and "The Screaming Head" by Rick Hautala and there will be nightmares in abundance. If those don't do the trick there's another half dozen that will keep that campfire stoked all through the night.
I look forward to a to sequel "Skull Full of Spurs" in the near future.
Want to Read Something Good? Buy This Book!Review Date: 2000-05-19
This book has 13 of the best Weird Western tales ever collected in one place. You got a tale about a cowboy with a virus that won't let him be killed. There's one about a magic bullet traveling down Main Street at a couple inches a year. And who wouldn't love a story about a midget sheriff? Oh, and for you nymphos out there, the sexiest, most erotic, Old West showdown ever written on paper is printed in these pages, too.
To top it all off, each story is followed by the author's bibliography. The search for the rest of your favorite author's work is right at your fingertips. Now that's a nice touch.
Yep, SKULL FULL OF SPURS has it all. Buy it. And pray Dark Highway Press puts out a SPURS part II.

Roger Hargreaves' story is short, simple, and easy for kids to follow, with just enough alliteration to make it fun. His pictures are bright and bring the story to life.
My son so loves this book that every time he sees a "smiley face" he exclaims "Mr Happy in Happyland!"
