Incredible movie

This is the sort of film that one cannot exactly say one has enjoyed -- but nonetheless one has sat rivited from beginning to end. The only word for this movie is "brilliant." I got a feeling for how alien and strange the ancient civilization must have been. Usually, in presentations of the classics, everything just seems like present day folks wearing costumes -- but not this film. Filmed in North Africa, it just blew me and my family away! If you like the classics, you will love this movie. Having said that, of course it has the usual Pasolini eccentricities. Be forewarned.

"Ah the politics of academia!"
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 8 total.

Having served over 4 years hard time as an employee in an institution of higher learning, I really appreciated both the humor and politics of this book. One book of a small series, it is set in a fictitious private liberal arts college in Texas. In additional to the murder(s), faculty vs "the administration" plays a large role in the plots of the books in this series.

ON THE COSTA DEL SOL. Taylor Monroe had come to Spain with one goal. He was going to snatch his wayward brother Dan from this lazy, bohemian lifestyle and put him on the next flight back to New York. Taylor had worked hard to build a successful firm. And while he reaped the benefits, he couldn't let his brother waste away in some ramshackle dwelling on the Mediterranean coast. But Dan was out of town. In his apartment, Taylor was confronted by a feisty woman who claimed to be one of Dan's buddies. With sunny blond hair, snapping blue eyes, and a gift for language; Willy Desmond seemed at home on the Costa Del Sol. She'd spent the last four years in Europem drifting like a leaf in the wind. Her lifestyle defied Taylor's values of discipline, stability, and roots. And with one taste of her lips, Taylor understood why they called her Wild Willy.
Willow Desmond had heard Dan talk of his brother, the family caretaker. Dark, gorgeous Taylor was the kind of man who made others bend to his desires, the kind of man Willy had spent a lifetime avoiding. Willy had earned her reputation as one tough cookie. But all it took was one kiss from Taylor, and that cookie began to crumble.

Rare quality vampire product

I'm really sad to see this book is no longer available in amazon, In case they bring it back, or you locate it elsehow, know that this is a rare book even for a company with such high quality standards as white wolf.

It is a story of a cabal of vampires in their search for the inner peace of Golconda. Ancient, all of them, they had known Saulot personally and witnessed his elevated state. Ever since, they are bent on the path of achieving Golconda.

Their search led them in ages long past to a castle in Transylvania. There they awakened a terrible secret that has haunted them ever since, keeping them virtual prisoners in a forgotten land. They are Inconnu of another time, lost in the quest of a cure long forgotten in the Time of Judgement.

The characters are to find this group of vampires and find out about some of the most intriguing sides of the curse of immortality. The issue of Golconda and the [sect known as] the Inconnu have never received adequate treatment.

The characters hidden within the castle are some of the most interesting methuselas ever created by White Wolf. They have strong, complete and absolutely believable personalities. They are locked in a grid of relationships so complex that a whole appendix of the book is dedicated to showing graphic relationship diagrams! And all from part of a grand story with epic proportions and dark secrets to discover. Oportunities for strong stories are endless in this book.

For people that play crossover chronicles from Dark Ages to Modern Times, this adventure will have several added bonuses. It draws heavily from both times, and although it is set in modern age Transylvania, old timers will have quite a few interesting memories come up...

5 stars it is from me.

funky and astute might be appropriate adjectives to describe Open City mag., which is more than a literary portrait "of New York City and the city in general." with writing not merely urban(e) or cynical (consider the dense, nature-themed poetry of Rodney Jack and the quirky yet illuminating work of Catherine Bowman in #18), here is the intelligentsia--artful and heartfelt, in a format as original as the visions it collects.

WYSIWYG - Truly lives up to it's title!

Although I have briefly glimpsed through this book at the medical bookshop, it is my humble opinion that the title truly lives up to it's readers expectations! I specifically looked up a couple of topics and briefly fingered through the topics (Stevens - Johnsons syndrome & acute anterior uveitis) - the book gave you the definition, the signs and symptoms, treatment, etc. This was done with much thought and care, systematically.I was about to purchase the Wills manual of Ophthalmoloy (not the exact title) but this book fulfills all my expectations in a pocket manual. As an ophthalmic nurse I am definitely getting this one.

This book truly leads the reader on a spiritual journey, giving a great sense of perspective to the story of Jesus as told in the gospel of Mark. I recommend this to anyone who loves Jesus, and also anyone who is just curious or wants to learn more--it's a fascinating book.

Brilliant Blasphemy

Review Date: 2000-08-10
I first came across this book at a friend's house while peaking on acid. At the time, I believed in God, and was reverent of all this creation business we find ourselves in. This book looks at God and It's creation through a very jaundiced eye, with compelling, horrifying and undeniably adept illustrations and text. It took me years to be able to see God again beyond the film of revulsion and fear this book drew down over my eyes, but my faith is stronger for it. I think Steadman would laugh if he read that last sentence, and I think he should, too--but believe me when I tell you that the first time you pick up this book, you should be solid in your faith, and you should NOT be on LSD! :-)

Being raised not 5 miles from the location of the book in Osage County and only 13 years latter I felt I was reading a story of my life. This is a great book for young and old who love to hear stories like those told by your Grandparents on the front porch sipping tea in the cool Oklahoma evening. A must have for anyone who loves books of life and the realities that come with it.
