I saw a fascinating lecture at the University of Washington about the construction of this bridge, and was so amazed at the difficulty of the project, and the success and beauty of the bridge, that I wanted to learn more about the engineering and construction of the bridge, and the people who built it. This book did not disappoint. The photos are terrific, and the writing is a joy to read.

"Masters of Suspension" is a great read and a beautifully done book. The writing flows so well and really pulls you into the story The coffee-table size book's photos wonderfully complement the narrative.

The story of the former bridge, Galloping Gertie (which survived less than a year), which this new bridge replaces seems too amazing to be true, but you just can't make up stuff like that! The story of that bridge architect who left Washington to get away from the infamy, but was recognized just the same in a Japanese POW camp is just too, too funny.

The book details well the challenges of such an endeavor, but also focuses on the people who made it happen, which is what makes it such an engaging and compelling read.

An encyclopedia of the field but easy to read and comprehend. Extensive reference material for all phases of engineering applied to medicine and biotechnology. Most of the material remains timely.

i haven't been in school for a while and was apprehensive of how well i'd do in school again. so i went to my local college i took a couple of pre-requisite classes for medical transcriptioning. this books/system was used for the medical terminology.
it was very information filled but not overwhelming. it has 100 percent retention expectation. and i have made 100's on my tests so far, one more to go. it gets a little repeative at the end but other than that, i can't complain. you learn so much without feeling stressed, compared to the other class i'm taking.
i was looking to see what other books he offers on different subjects because i was so impressed with the program and thought i'd share my opinion.

My voice teacher asked me to buy it so I could really understand music. I am glad I did! It really helps break down music theory , everything you need to know!

This book is written in an easy to understand informational style with common sense, holistic remedies. It offers the reader reasons why "your body is not acting like the body you grew up with". Most of all, it offers hope that you are not destined to suffering though a difficult transition time alone. Dr Dean is thorough and caring in her approach.

My motive for finding a replacement for my old Spicker/Noble edition was that I was looking for an edition that was easier to read since i would be looking at it from a distance because I was going to be conducting. What attracted me to this edition out of the six or so I looked at was that it corresponded page by page to the old Spicker edition and that there was a companion book by the editor called "A Practical Guide for Performing, Teaching, and Singing Messiah" that I found extremely helpful for a first-time conductor of Messiah like me. Corresponding with the Spicker should prove helpful for those in the choir who are quite attached to their old copy, though if they are looking at their neighbor's easy to read Van Camp edition, they just might by won over. The articulations added by the editor are very sensible and consistent. The keyboard arrangement is also more thoughtfully arrangement for the player, eliminating bass-doubling and sensibly arranging the runs of thirds to name a few.
This edition should prove extremely helpful for singers and conductors alike. I also recommend the accompanying text named above for the conductor.

I got this book on a visit to Arizona's famous Meteor Crater in December 2000. It is fairly short, but it provides extensive details on the history of Meteor Crater. No other source provides as much information as this book! It also provides details on other events, such as the Chicxulub impact.

However, the book doesn't cover much on the physics of impact events. True, it's not a textbook, but some information on the physics of such events would have been nice.

I was very impressed with the writing style of these two gentlemen (one of whom I worked with years ago). The story gripped me from the beginning, and I had a very hard time putting it down, even at 1 am when I should have been sleeping. The transitions between the past and the present were also very well done. I would recommend anyone who wants to read something a little different read this.

I have been a long-time fan of the Michelin Green Guides, finding them to be among the very best city guides of all. With their walking tours, clear maps and transparent organization, they are always useful, handy and effective introductions for new visitors and repeat visitors alike. I loved the Paris guide when I lived in that city, and love the San Francisco guide now that I am living in San Francisco.
