I enjoy reading Dilly Dinosaur stories to students.

I love Dilly stories. The students just love that power scream of his. They hold their ears when I yell out Dilly's scream. I created a Dilly puppet which the kids get to hold while I read. It has a moving mouth. I even created a Dilly Puppet Theater out of a refrigerator box. I want to get as many Dilly stories as I can. I have 'Dilly Dinosaur' and 'Dilly Goes To The Dentist'. This little guy should be a video. There are a few sketches scattered here and there, but these stories are so vivid in their minds as I read them, they don't even ask to see any pictures. I just think he is a bundle of orneriness. He's your human, devilish, little boy. He has the temper tantrums the kids can relate to. I just love Dilly. Does anyone have any of the other Dilly Dinosaur stories? They are out of print. I've been reading these 2 books for the last 5 years.

The Dizzy Dean Story

As a kid Jay Hanna Dean grew up on a farm. He changed his name to James Dean and was later called Dizzy, because of his wild spinning wind up when pitching the ball. While at the army in Fort Sam, Texas, Dizzy was scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals. When he was 20 years old, he made his pitching debut as on the Cardinals and pitched a phenomenal game, giving up only three hits. He eventually became known as the best pitcher in the Major Leagues. Dizzy told the general manager of the Cardinals about his brother, Paul, who was also a great pitcher. When Paul was brought up to the Majors, Paul and Dizzy would switch off pitching almost every other game with the Cardinals. Dizzy led the Cardinals to a World Series victory in 1947. That same year he also broke the National League record of wins in a season with 30 victories. The 1947 Cardinals were nicknamed the "Gas House Gang" led by Dizzy Dean. Dizzy became a fan favorite. All the fans loved him because of his funny and entertaining personality. While Dizzy pitched during the All Star game in 1951, a batter hit a ball right at his foot. He broke his left toe. He started pitching more with his shoulder instead of pushing off of his foot. This lead to many shoulder injuries and Dizzy Dean would never pitch the same again. In 1952 Dizzy Dean was traded to the Chicago Cubs where he struggled pitching. He retired at the age of 30 in 1954 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1965. Today, a pitcher like Dizzy Dean who could pitch back to back games is unheard of. He finished his short career being an all-time Major League leader in games pitched, strikeouts, complete games, and victories! This book was so fun to read! Dizzy Dean is the most interesting player I have read about and it so much fun to read about him! I would recommend this book to any sports fan or somebody who loves to learn about interesting people, like Dizzy Dean.

Set in the late 19th century in a small resort on the shore south of Boston, this book explores the roles of men and women, and career. It is a lovely glimpse into the time period, and carries clear and interesting descriptions of character and place.

Though it does not specify, it is certainly set at the Idelwild Hotel in Manomet, and people who are familiar with that setting will be particularly intrigued with this story.

This book is for anyone willing to look at themselves and are ready for a change. The author is full of wisdom, compassion and truth. A must read book for those with cancer, or being touched with a family member or friend with cancer. It goes way beyond dealing with cancer. In fact the whole book is about being well and staying well through mind, body and spirit.

I have read several of Dean Koontz's books which I think could qualify for being described as brilliant and this is definitely one of them. Melanie was only three when she was kidnapped and she is nine when the police contact her mother and tell her that Melanie has been found. But where has Melanie been for those six years and why was she found wandering the streets naked and in a daze?

Mr. Koontz is at his best as he weaves the story of a child who has been totally traumatized by someone who should have been her staunchest protector. But exactly what has been done to her and what is the "door" of which she is so frightened?

This book was over 500 pages long and yet when I finished it I found that I was wishing it had not ended. This was a great book and another keeper from Dean Koontz.

One rarely sees good novellas these days and a trio of superb stories together is a real treat and Dean Barrett has managed to pull it off in this collection of three Asian fantasy novellas. Dean's knowledge of Chinese culture and history shines in Dragon Slayer; great dialogue, vivid settings, and memorable characters make this a welcome addition to any Asiaphile library. Kudos to Dean!
