Lest we foget...

Before Trudeau, socialism and Quebec separatists, Canada was once a great nation. Our efforts in the first and second world wars were unmatched, and this book pays tribute to Canadians' bravery and fortitude with a sampling of pieces from the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Best: the stunning Frank Johnston watercolour, page 71, called "Looking into the Blue." Worst: the uninspired, uninspiring introductory message from our Minister of Culture, the oleaginous Sheila Copps.

Truly Stunning Collection of Male Nudes
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2000-05-08
I was really impressed with Dean Keefer's photography. These exquisite black & white photos of male nudes he has taken over the past ten years, are so clear and lifelike. They practically jump off the page. Each model is photographed in a natural setting or by machinery. Of course, my favorites were of Steve Hammond on the inside covers, and Plate #56. Even the book cover is a work of art. Well done, and we thank you, Dean Keefer, truly one of today's great photographers.

This is a beautiful book that showcases the uniquely American work of Centerbrook Architects. A look into their design process, firm makeup, and rustic office environment adds some insight to their work which is spreading from across New England to throughout the country.

The back blurb - since it is missing from the web page
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-10
I noticed this book's page doesn't have the standard blurb summarizing the book. That drives me crazy, so in case any of you would like a summary of the book so you'll know what they're asking you to buy, here it is:

Declan Jericho is a vampire with a purpose. His best hope for success is a brilliant young cancer specialist, but unfortunately, saving the undead isn't exactly the career path Dr. Maya Sheldon has in mind.

Maya finds her entire belief system thrown into question when Dec kidnaps her from her hospital, taking her to his home so that she can develop a cure for the mysterious illness that is killing the young vampires in his care. Her instincts as a doctor kick in quickly. Vampires or not, she's unable to abandon her charges. Working with Dec, it soon becomes clear that there's more than a professional interest between them, but as their attraction grows, darker secrets threaten their newfound relationship. Dec has his own reasons for wanting the young vampires cured, and he's not telling.

No fluff - provides a clear roadmap to implementing change
Helpful Votes: 40 out of 42 total.
Review Date: 2002-06-21
If you are involved in organizational change, including the introduction and rollout of new systems, steering company culture and/or reengineering this book is a gem. What sets it apart from other books on the subject is that it has no fluff - it jumps directly into what you need to do and how you need to do it to meet your change objectives.

What I like is the step-by-step approach that is process- and project-oriented. As a process the approach is provided as a change process model that meshes with the phases, activities and tasks that are required to effect the change. Each of these are explained as they are introduced in the book, and are summarized in the appendix. This makes it easy to quickly develop a work breakdown structure, determine resources and create a schedule using project management software.

I also like the way the authors sequence the activities and the thoroughness with which they examine details and provide advice, questionnaires and other useful information and tools to cut through the complexities of the change process.

Among the growing pile of books I have read on the subject this one is the most pragmatic and provides the clearest path to effectively planning for and implementing change.
