Good compilation of classic Paranoia AdventuresReview Date: 2005-08-02
FULL CONTENTS:
* Alpha Complexities
* Das Bot
* Me and My Shadow Mark 4
* Robot Imana 665-C
* Send in the Clones
* Trouble With Cockroaches, the
* Yellow Clearance Black Box Blues, the
* Vapors Don't Shoot Back
* Three 'Code 7' mini-missions

But should you buy it? It depends. If you are seeking good compilation of older Paranoia material, book is goldmine. If you are searching something for one-shots, book is also very good choice though some of the longer adventures can take even three gaming sessions to complete. But if you don't really care for pre-made adventures, there is probably nothing here that would interest you, though most book's adventures have terrific ideas for killing Troubleshooters.

Highlights from a Long CareerReview Date: 2001-05-14
His endorsement of the classical studies led to his teaching the of Great Books of the Western World, which he thought was the best avenue to a well-rounded education. If you own a set of Encyclopedia Britannica's Great Books of the Western World, you'll see Adler's name as associate editor. He wrote both volumes of the Great Ideas syntopicon that begin the series.
This book centers on the professional, rather than the personal, more so than the average autobiography. It's quite philosophical. Adler makes you think about different propositions as he reveals his discovery of certain knowledge. He's quick to point out his mistakes of youth, and he shares many stories of how his own lack of tact alienated him from his colleagues and other important people. He's mellowed much with age and has become more and more respected within his field. It's a very honest recap of a long and productive life. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in philosophy, the great books, or liberal arts education.

Straightforward Enjoyable Italian Legal ThrillerReview Date: 2007-11-19
The story then unfolds relatively straightforwardly, as Guerrieri examines the details of the original case and does a little digging with the unofficial help of a few old acquaintances. As in many European crime novels, the hero/protagonist is somewhat of a loner, and spends a good portion of the book drifting around the streets of the city (by bike!) ruminating on his empty life, eating, and drinking. Adding to Guerrieri's woes is his self-loathing when he falls all too easily into bed with his client's exotically beautiful wife. A further complication is the lawyer's secret past with his client -- as a teen, the client was a fascist thug who was part of a gang who assaulted Guerrieri, an event the client doesn't appear to recall. These latter two elements don't add a great deal to the story, especially the teenage connection, which leads nowhere and ultimately serves little purpose. Yet despite the relatively unoriginal plotline, there's a certain tone to the story that makes it quite compelling. Definitely not a great book, but good enough to make me want to go back and read Guerrieri's earlier cases (Involuntary Witness, A Walk in the Dark).
Strong Italian legal thriller Review Date: 2007-10-04
Guerrieri hesitates as he feels the appeal will fail because Fabio confessed, the man's past as a Fascist punk offers no redeeming quality to build from, and there is no lucid motive to forge a conspiracy to lock him away. However, upon meeting the exotic half-Japanese Natsu, Guido agrees to represent Fabio. As he constructs the defense, Guido cannot resist Natsu's lure even though he knows this is a morally wrong conflict of interest; they make love. If Fabio ever finds out and is freed from prison it could prove dangerous to his lawyer, who begins to wonder if he should throw the case too.
The legal thriller aspects are fascinating and cleverly devised, but that takes a back seat to the deep look at the ethics of the middle age attorney Guido. Readers will appreciate his realizations and rationalizations as he ponders between the best and worst defenses. Few sub-genre tales contain a better protagonist as he makes the tale worth reading with his fresh somewhat cynical spin (see INVOLUNTARY WITNESS).

Awesome book - a journey of the heartReview Date: 2006-03-10
This is one of the most incredible books you are ever likely to read. Great reading, and for what is a deep subject it's a remarkably easy read too. It's sprinkled with honest and helpful anecdotes from the lives of the authors which help illustrate the points and make it personal and human, as well as divine and spiritual. The Sacred Romance encourages you to recapture your heart, your soul, your imagination, your vision. It spurs you on to see yourself as part of something bigger. Deep inside each of us at some point is a yearning to be something, a vision that we are made for something bigger, a dream that we have significance, and that there is something more. However, the burdens and 'arrows' of life oppress and stomp all over these visions and desires, and as a result we settle for less, for 'less wild lovers' for addictions, for drivenness and distractions, but we even find that what we settle for does not satisfy. This book reaches into the deepest part of us and affirms that our hopes and dreams point onwards to the greater reality - the God who loves us, who pursues us. The desire deep within us will never be fulfilled by taking the easy road, or by simple pleasures - sure, we might sojourn for a while but ultimately the simple pleasures (or 'vanity fair') never satisfy, so we either need to journey on, or these things slowly kill the heart - if that sounds dramatic just look around and see what 'anaesthetics' people use in their lives and what it does to them. Instead fulfilment is from pursuing the God who pursues us, and that might well be across a desert of self-questioning and putting aside the simple pleasures, but it's what we were made for, and only by pursuing the true source of our hopes, desires and dreams will we find the fulfilment, the meaning that we earnestly seek. In doing so, we find that God is a wild lover of each of us, that He is passionate about each of us. This book is about a journey of the heart... into the heart of God.
If you haven't guessed by now, The Sacred Romance really touched me. I love its passion and honesty and it speaks deeply into my own experience. It is profound, transformational and affirms the deep desires and hopes within us - follow them, don't stamp on them, follow them through the wild roads and across the deserts - into the arms of God. Guys this book is as much for you as for the girls - it speaks into the adventure each of us seeks in our hearts, it affirms what's in each of our masculine souls, and encourages us onward in our journey. I heartily recommend it.

The Bricks are Brown...Review Date: 2005-08-26
Doreen Rappaport has written a story that teaches children that even ordinary people can stand up and make a real difference in their community. Further, the story highlights the importance of faith, strength in times of adversity, and courage. Curtis James does a wonderful job illustrating the book. Through his artistry, readers can see the story unfold and see the emotions the characters feel through the expressions depicted in the richly detailed pictures. THE SCHOOL IS NOT WHITE! is a great introduction to the Civil Rights Movement, and particularly the important role children played in it.

The other reviewer did a bang up job of detailing the contents. The Amazon review is wrong, however. HIL Sector Blues actually appears in Extreme Paranoia, and is only casually mentioned in the introduction of Paranoia Flashbacks.
The price here on Amazon is well worth the many adventures contained herein, chosen for fun value rather than any other reason. These are the best adventures of the previous editions, upgraded to Paranoia XP.
If adventures are what you need, I'd definately get Flashbacks before any other book in the XP line.
