Well written biography of Marie-Therese, only child of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI who survived into adulthood. Alice Curtis Desmond does a nice job describing Marie-Therese's childhood at Versailles and her subsequent imprisonment during the French Revolution. She then details the next 50 years of her life, as she constantly moves all around Europe, never quite settling in one place. Fascinating!

What a refreshing series targeted towards princesses between the ages of 6-9 and an answered prayer for an alternative to Junie B. Jones!!! (Don't get me wrong, I love Junie! But... Well, if you've read Junie, you know where I'm going with this.)
These books deal with topics such as: true beauty, peer pressure, friendships, patience, and everything else that a little girl might have to tackle! Not to mention... these books are HILARIOUS! Lori has truly mastered the ability to not only put herself into a child's mind, but writes in a casual form that every little girl will understand.
As if that isn't enough... At the end of every book Lori has added a "Chatter Matters" section! What an awesome way to open up the lines of communication with our little ladies and Lori even brought in a few Bible verses to spark more curiosity and further discussions! And... "BLAM! Great Activity Ideas" section that ties in with each story! This is great!
My younger daughter and I had the pleasure of reading All Dressed Up and FELL IN LOVE with Meghan! We both agree that once your little girl picks the first book up, she'll cry out to read the rest!!! But don't take my word for it. Here's what my daughter has to say: "This book was so funny & cute. I think A LOT of kids will really like it!"

Originally a collection of pictures that Neil Curtis made to help comfort himself after the death of his mother, The Memory Book tells the story of the first seven years of his life in London (post WWII) until his family moved to Australia.
Each page spread has a snippet of memory on one side, mainly written as he understood it at the time, and a full page illustration of the feeling or event on the other. He draws himself as a little pillowcase figure, tiny in the adult world. The pictures are very evocative, sometimes funny and sometimes quite confronting. I borrowed this book from a friend, and I can't wait to pick up my own copy.
Neil Curtis won the Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year award for his picturebook Cat and Fish.

The best college textbook on economic theory there is.

What is this arrogant social science named economics? Read this and find out; the answer is not at all what politicians, journalists, and lay people think it is. EE&A is admittedly one of the most difficult of the many undergrad texts in economic theory. But it is also unusually well written because Diane Eaton is a professional writer and editor. EE&A also nicely marries two distinct contrasting traditions in economic theory: mathematical microeconomics (Curtis Eaton), and applied price theory (Doug Allen). The authors never lose sight that economics is rightly about human questions and problems, and not about a showy display of elementary mathematics applied to the material side of human life. That this text is not better known is evidence of the shabby state of many USA undergraduate courses.

To steal a phrase from one of her poems this author is "...a scribe not a a writer, a psalmist, not a poet." I've been a fan of hers for a long time and this book has been much anticiptate and worth the wait. Her words echo the crys of all mankind. Her words give voice to children to afraid to speak and to women whose pain has made them to numb to feel. Her words challenge men to be what God has called them to be and challenge us all to realize God has a plan and purpose for our lives. I invite you to go to church with me and invite all your friends. This author has a word from the heart and the Lord. From Invocation to Benediction and even After Service in the Parking Lot, you are sure to be pleased with this Midday Service.
