This is a biography of a woman writer who's real name was Aurore Dupin, who lived in Paris in the 19th century -- Since Amazon didn't provide an editorial review, here's the description from the back of the book to help you decide if this book is for you: "Hailed in her lifetime as the first female genius of any country or age -- even while condemned as the pipe-smoking, pants-wearing mistress of Frederic Chopin, Alfred de Musset, and numerous others -- George Sand, born Aurore Dupin, both captivated and scandalized nineteenth-century Paris. Foreshadowing the women's movement by more than a century, she shook the foundations of European literature and culture with her consuming desire to discover her identity through her art. A provacative, daring and truly gifted writer, George Sand emerges as large as life in this splendidly realized, lusty biography -- an insightful narrative as romantic, as intense, as meomentous as the life that inspired it."

This book is a must read for any fan of history, George Washington or Kentucky. The research done to create this book was incredible because it gave me a real sense of what was actually transpiring during the US expansion toward the West and of the speculative land acquisitions by the property barons and the politically elite of the day. It was also very interesting to read some of George Washington's letters which provided me with real insight into his intelligence and wit. In my opinion, this is history at its best, which sheds light on the self interest that motivated many of our founding fathers, which motivation has fostered one of the greatest economic powers of all time, the United States of America. This is far from the normal, dry and boring history book that I have become accustomed to over the years. I recommend it highly.

TIME HAS VINDICATED WALLACE!

Faced with prospect of a Presidential election between Harry Truman and New York Governor Thomas E.Dewey leftwing and progressive forces were looking for a person to run for the Presidency, who would promote a policy of peace(no Cold War)toward the Soviet Union, and fight for racial, social, and ecomonic equality/justice at home, with no political repression at home for political dissidents.Any kind of political leftism was viewed as being pro -Soviet and subject to all kinds of political harassment. The Hollywood blacklist, was just around the corner and HUAC had already conducted hearings in Hollywood regarding "the red menance"Henry Wallace,FDR's 2cd VP,who was dumped in 1944,by big city bosses and Southern racists, the reason Wallace was because he was considered to be "leftwing",and a liability for the Democratic ticket. The real reason was that "the powers that be" knew FDR was near death and whoever was the Vice-President would become President.Wallace was not trusted by the "Wall Street Crowd",even though he was NOT a Communist or a Socialist, but what he called a "progressive Capitalist" in contrast to the easily plyable Truman(whose close ties to the corrupt Kansas City machine and organized crime made him a prime subject for possible political blackmail). The author, the late NU Prof.(of Journalism) Curtis MacDougal penned this 3 vol. account of the events leading up to the "48 election, the involvement in,or in some instances against the Wallace campaign. It is also a who's who of the left in the 1940's.Names such as William Foster,Mike Quill,Harry Bridges,Victor Perlo,Robert Kenny,John Abt,and many, many others dot the pages of this fine history. Not only is it a good look at late 1940"s American politics, from a left-wing viewpoint, but also an inside look at Illinois politics, and the role of the state Demcrats in keeping Wallace off the state ballot. If Wallace were on the state ballot local Demcrats felt Truman would have no chance in carrying Illinois.Earl Dickerson,a prominent Chicago attorney, civil rights activist and Wallace backer is the subject of a recent bio.,with a review, for Amazon written by me.The Earl Dickerson book is available from Amazon.

This book by Jack Curtis could be his best ever. With all the breath taking action you'll read it over and over. It will seem like the murderer is lurking around every corner trying to get his next victim. If you love murder mysteries you'll want to add this thriller to your collection

We believe what we perceive to be true. Our truths are often led to us by various others, who, in turn, believe what they perceive to be true. What would you think though, if all of our beliefs were based on what somebody else wants us to believe? Confused? Let Myron Curtis, in his novel, "The Gospel Probe," explain it to you.
The year is 2287 and finally H.G.Wells' vision of a time machine of sorts has been invented. In a battle between the two largest religious sects, one following the Old Testament and the other following the newer, to be deemed "right," scientists and a few other choice specialists will travel back in time to the days of Christ and his trial, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. The goal is to prove by first hand accounts the existence of Jesus and the subsequent events that the Gospels were based on.
Rajulk is the main explorer of this time period and through his eyes we see the events unfold. Disguised as a traveler he encounters the people, hears the rumors of not one but two prophets, and sets about gathering "evidence" in the form of audio recordings and a visual recording of a crucifixion. He comes away with much more than he expected after risking his life among the Roman guards. Will the Pope get his wish, and see his "mission to prove the veracity of the gospels and discredit satanic counter efforts" fulfilled? Will the world see the truth or continue on seeing what someone else wants us to believe is fact?
Myron Curtis brings forth a highly interesting thought. The book is intriguing and interesting. I do have to point out the presence of typos and misspellings - as an editor this is what I do. As a whole, I feel the story was told well and shows promise to be somewhat controversial for a work of science fiction.

Published in conjunction with the 1997 exhibition held at the Morris Museum of Art, August, Georga. Following an introductory essay, color reproductions (many of them accompanied by commentary on the artist) present late 19th century Alaskan works which illustrate the frontier myth; more contemporary works which offer proof of an amazing level of intuition and artistic creativity in a very tiny demographic arena; and finally, the commissioned efforts of Bill C. Ray which document the customs and existence of the native peoples of Alaska. 10.25x10.15".
