I used to eat at some of the restaurants Curtis Grace owned and these are the same recipes he serves. Don't miss the 9th Street House Chicken Salad or the tea. They are great.

Card Sharks Beware!

Review Date: 2007-10-10
Annie Raye is back in Vegas. She left Vegas to go straight, leaving her card counting father and the life she hated behind. She was a bright child, and at the age of twelve began card counting - for a living. When she beat one of the most successful casino owners of all time, she began refusing to play blackjack because she watched her father almost beaten to death over the game.

Annie is back to find a life for herself and her daughter, Maddy. She has come home to Vegas to take a job at Slotto, but a private investigator, Sam Knight has rejected her for the position over her background check. Annie wants to know why, and sets out to prove herself to him. When Sam finds out she is THE card counter from years ago, he is intrigued, but still has illegal players to find before the casinos are run broke by card counters.

Sam and Annie are exact opposites and play upon each others weaknesses to create chaos and situations that left this reader laughing out loud at times. They also come together with a bang, and when their attraction blows up, they are both torn between wanting each other, and knowing what might happen. Sam passing out every time Maddy comes into his vision makes for a unique twist that made this reader sigh with frustration and to hope he can overcome his past to make a future with this family.

This reader loved numbers growing up and made counting objects a big game. As Maddy counts things, and plays, she makes a great secondary character and gives a great dimension to this tale. Her antics and the love that surrounds her turn this tale into a family tale to treasure.

In this reviewers opinion this one of the best Super Romance novels publishes so far this year, and this author will be put on auto-buy for future books to come!

More Than a Country Boy

Pitkin, Lousiana lies in central southwest Louisiana equidistant between Leesville and Oakdale along Scenic Route 10. Although the author claims the town has 200 inhabitants The Rand McNally 2005 Road Atlas and Travel Guide claims 700. Either way, Pitkin is probably as important to the world as "O Little Town of Bethlehem" since it is a small location over which a star came down from the sky to land on the shoulders of a "native" son(kinda)--Curtis Francis Hoglan. In his own way, Curtis Hoglan has brought much "Joy to the World"(like Jeremiah the Bullfrog). As you read this easy-reading book you will laugh out loud---many times.(no foolin). If a Country Boy ever made good(sorta) it was and is Curt Hoglan.(The Man With The Horn). I KNOW HIM! He could make a deaf, dumb, and blind man laugh! He could charm the secrets off of Victoria!, and he is slicker than the man who sold you your first car. Curt Hoglan is an adopted boy who grew up in the shadows of the pines and scrub oaks of Pitkin, Louisiana to become a legend in the United States Army Artillery as a soldier and one of the sweetest trumpet player Saints to ever march out of Pitkin,Louisiana( and became a Brigadier General to boot). Curt Hoglan has more relatives and friends than Mao Tse Tung had subjects. By the time you finish this book(REALLY easy reading) you will wonder how he remembered all their names. When we were classmates at the U S Army War College and everyone was laughing you knew that Curt was in the middle of them. This is a book about "HAPPY".! A happy boy/man with happy friends and a happy job in a happy organization because he made it happy. That's why this book is so good! It's the story of being happy and making others happy. He writes a book that is full of praise for those who worked for and with him. It is truly a success story about a man who did his job to the very best of his ability and made others proud to have known him. Maybe you don't believe me? OK, ask Colin Powell, or former Commandant of the Marine CorpsP.X.Kelly, or former Governor of South Carolina Carroll Campbell, or Army four star General Fritz Kroesen, or the Pope, or even Jim Shelton. This guy, Curtis Francis Hoglan spent his whole life working for his country, for his fellow man, for his family and for every organization of which he was ever a part. And he was one of the biggest beneficiaries---he became a great human being. ("He gotter done")

Anyone who has any interest in investing (and who doesn't?) must buy this brilliant, highly readable and invaluable guide to financial management and financial sanity. Buy several copies to demonstrate your sophisticated investment savvy to your associates and family members. Deserves to be a Book of the Month choice. Required reading for anyone venturing into the risky but (if you follow Greg Curtis' advice) highly rewarding world of wealth management and maximization.

Crow Indian Photographer: The Work of Richard Throssel

A beautiful book for historians and photography buffs alike.

Richard Throssel was a Cree Indian, adopted by the Crow. He was also a trained commercial photographer who worked with some of the best in the profession at the time. This book serves as a brief biography and a compilation of his photos of Plains Indians-mostly Crow and Cheyenne.

Those interested in the study of Plains Indian culture will enjoy Peggy Albright's well-written text and the way she incorporates the photos into her brief biography of Throssel. While those interested in the art of photography can simply skip to the section containing the photos and read the comments by people she interviewed while working on the book. Some, for example, are descendents who helped identify and give background on people in the photographs.

This is not your typical collection of portraits of dour "chiefs." Included here are portraits of many different people- some better known than others-including women and children. There are also photographs of ceremonies that were actually being performed illegally at the time, as well as posed compositions lke "The Three Scouts," riding amongst the markers at The Little Bighorn Battlefield.

My only regret is that I purchased this book in paperback. I certainly hope it will withstand all the many times I, and others will leaf through it.

Bryn Tuttle is starting life over in Kentucky after losing everything to her ex-boyfriend. One weekend afternoon she and her new friend Sam go to a yard sale where they meet Maddie.

Maddie tells Sam's fortune using tea leaves and then gives her the cup with the promise that Sam read Bryn's leaves that evening.

But the cup does more than tell Bryn's future. It transports her to an alternate reality where she meets Lugh ap Kernun, Lord Hawke, and finds out that they were meant to be together.

Cup of Fate by Cassandra Curtis is a fun quick read. Bryn is a brave woman starting life over after what was obviously a huge disaster in her love life.

Lugh is sweet and loving. I thought the obvious care he showed for Bryn's feelings made him very loveable.

The only real problem I had with this story was that it was too short. I wanted to get to know the characters better and see what else would happen in their lives.

Usually being a meat and potatoes kind of a person, I never gave much thought to my veggies like I should. I always thought they were boring. Not until I purchased this book. Curtis Aikens makes tremendous strides in making vegetables the "all" important part of your meal, and sometimes, they are the meal. Not only does he explain the particular vegetable in detail, he gives you simple, easy and delicious recipes. Thanks to Curtis, I can now eat my veggies and like them! Bravo, Curtis!

Curtis Sawyer's Scrambled Eggs is an awesome ride.
The book is excellant with a REAL twist. She enjoyed the read as well, so have a feeling there'll be some 'dog-eared' copies floating around here as family and friends each get copies to read. The brevity is overshadowed by the 'self talk' narrative, that pulls the reader into the action of the Scrambled world quite effectively. Along for the ride, the reader views Curtis 'self talk' perceptions as a mix of fabulous fun, angst during a gloomy day, some sad but happiest of all with his best tail wagging bud! Agree with another reviewer that tear ducts are going to be affected by the ending. The interesting complexity of the main character also allows the story to be read over and over again. Golly gee Curtis, take that little red Porsche out for a test spin. A really fun ride that doesn't just turn the table at the end, It flips the whole room over. A must read book for anybody that ever 'thinks / speaks to themselves' like that.

There are few references that cover the Species Pleione. This covers the species in depth. The illustrations are excellent. Ian Butterfields experience of growing them is invaluable
