I can really recommend this book! Being a psychologist myself, I have always been on the alert for integrative approaches to couples therapy. This book is one of them! The author skillfully blends psychological theories and studies with her daily experience as a therapist. Especially interesting are the following features:
- A solid foundation in research findings
- Case studies with illuminating therapist interventions
- Self explorations
- Sample Workshop charts (if you decide to teach parts of the book in a workshop)
- A comprehensive bibliography both for couples and therapists
- An eclectic approach, integrating cognitive-behavior, sociocognitive, psychodynamic and humanistic therapy approaches

If you need suggestions for working with couples, I am sure you will find some of then in this book. Taking everything together, Linda Berg-Cross truly succeeded in writing a comprehensive book about couples therapy!

Craft School is a very attractive book - clear instructions and great photos. If you are a beginning crafter, this gives you a nice introduction to many different mediums. However, some of the projects were rather cheesy and juvenile - so, I am choosing to take the instructions and apply them to projects that I think are way cooler.

Robert Shone, author of Creative Visualization: Using Imagery and Imagination for Self-Transformation, says that everyone has imagination, but most of us have forgotten how to use it. He first explains what imagination is, then teaches readers how to use it for creative visualization that will help them change their lives.

Shone says that while visual images are the most common, people can experience imagery through sound, touch, smell, taste, and movement. His first exercise has the reader forming images based on all the senses. Thereafter, he concentrates on visual imagery, but his techniques are applicable to all types of imagery.

"The basic message," says Shone, "is that the brain, when it creates an image (whether the image is a memory or something unreal), gives rise to consistent body changes and to behavioral changes." In other words, you can change yourself by visualizing yourself as different. You can change the way you feel, mentally and physically, and you can change the way you act. Shone maintains that imagination is stronger than will, making visualization more powerful than will power.

Visualization can be used to improve all aspects of one's life. Shone offers specific suggestions for use at work, sports and hobbies, shyness, memory, achieving goals, relieving pain and improving health, and increasing energy. He also discusses using dream imagery at the conscious level and the role of visualization in working with inner guides.

Shone says that "although the range of topics is quite wide, you will soon realize that they all basically follow the same format; it then becomes much easier to form images and utilize creative visualization in virtually any aspect of living.

Readers who are interested in developing their
imaginations and using imagery for self-help will find that Creative Visualization provides the guidance and help they need to transform their lives.

Excellent, concise history of the crusades

This book covers the entire Crusader period, from the beginning of the first Crusade to the end of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. The author tells a fascinating story in clear, readable prose -- and in only about 200 pages. He sketches the main characters with fascinating details and doesn't skimp on the action. His enthusiasm for his subject matter comes through clearly, and at times the book reads almost like a novel. Highly recommended.

I recommend few stories but this one is five stars! It is a very captivating story with great twists. The audiobook is performed very well and I can't imagine reading it without hearing the acting and words performed so well for this time period. I can understand why it won the Newbery medal. Great for adults too, as I am.

I found this book interestingly written. The style was different than I have read. The story is told by several children sometimes at the same time.

The story itself was good. For young readers this is a good book. The book shows children in their teens growing up and discovering new feelings and all around new things.

Klein's eye for beauty and diversity shows through in this eclectic collection of cross-like images from every walk of life. Telephone poles, ornate crucifixes, and yes, human nudes display one of the most profound and most ignored symbols of our century. If you have a spiritual hunger, an interest in art, and a mind open to possibility, get this wonderful collection for your coffee table and prepare for fascinating conversation ahead.

the crusades are back and with a vengance

This book deels with the Christian Crusades in the Middle east and parts of Europe starting from the 10th century all the way into the 18th century.
The book starts with a European army causing havic through Europe while heading to the Holy Land, which will start the first Crusade. From their it's it talks about the Holy Land and it's surroundings and everything that happend during all the Crusades and during times of peace. It also goes on past the third Crusade and it talks about clashes between the Muslims and Christians in the Middle East, in the Mediterranean and in Eastern Europe. The book ends in the 1800's when Napolean had the military order of the Hospitallers moved from their island home base on Malta onto mainland Europe.
The book not only talks about the Crusades in the Holy Land but also the ones in Europe as well. It mentions Crusades in Spain, the Balkans, France and in other areas as well. Some of the European Crusades were political and some were to convert the land to Christianity. Due to these European Crusades and other wars it was hard to send troops and supplies to the Holy Land. It also mentions the Children's Crusade and the Shepard's Crusade.
The books has a bunch of pictures throughout. They are of castle's, churche's, land, maps, and ancient pictures of battles from the time of the Crusades and centuries afterwards. My only problem with the pictures is that most of them are in black and white, so it makes it hard to appreciate some of the artwork.
I really enjoyed reading this book because it was very informative about the times of the crusades in the Holy Land and in Europe. I'm sure that since this book came out it the late 80's that there have been new discoveries ont the crusades and their are newer books discussing them but I would still highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about the Crusades.
