It must be remembered Osho is talking to Indians, in 1970, when socialism was being touted as the answer to that country's post-Ghandi woes. That being said, every single page applies to the world today. The talks are so fresh and inspired. Nice anecdotes throughout, and incidents from his growing-up (including an extremely eye-opening and amusing account of his meeting Ghandi himself). Osho's vision here is that a healthy capitalism will give way, unforced, to a realistic socialism. All things natural, make use of every energy given...much in keeping with his tantric philosia (love of seeing). From the book: "If we [are to] create a dynamic society, a live society, we will have to lay its foundation on discontent, not on contentment. We always ask why we are poor. We are poor for the simple reason that we are contented with poverty." Insights into Marx, Buddha, everyone...

The Experiment in international living has been going on since 1932. For the first quarter century the program put students in short-term summer exchanges living as a member of a family in a host country. This was the original live-with-a-family program which has been adopted in the meantime by many different organizations and programs. By the late 1950s the Experiement had become an international federation similar to the United Nations with offices in nearly fourty countries crossing international boundaries in all directions.
Since the 1950s the Experiment has assisted many institutions in planning and administrating academic semesters abroad programs for students and faculties. The articles in the book represent a sampling of the approaches and techniques developed by the Experiment and its School for International Training.

Ed Cleary has provided an informative glimpse into what it takes to get a controversial case to the United States Supreme Court. Disappointed by the ACLU's obvious preference for agenda over free speech, Cleary battled St. Paul's "hate crime" statute, arguing that he had no problem with laws which punished criminal acts, but serious reservations over laws which punished incorrect thought. What a wonderful presentation of the doctrine of atonement! I used this book in my devotions, while preaching through the book of Ruth. It is not lengthy, and not a theology book, per se, but is simply a concise, creative presentation of Dr. Campbell's teaching on the matter of atonment. There is really something to be said for exercising great discipline in one's reading, generally choosing the "old" books over the new.
The Bible and the Cross will encourage you. It is a voice from a different time (60+ years ago), speaking of the timeless beauty of our the Lord's death for sinner on the cross.

The Biblical Way of the Cross uses the modern Biblical stations. It is designed for a communal celebration with three roles: Leader, Lector and People; it uses the traditional gestures of kneeling and standing. At each station, the leader announces the station, there is a short responsory, the lector reads a Scripture passage related to the station, a prayer divided between the leader and the people follows, then the station ends with a Kyrie. Each station is accompanied by a nature photo.

This is an excellent version for parish use. If you are researching versions of The Way of the Cross for communal use, this should be on the short list.

I really liked this book. There are some great ideas that span easy to medium hard, but the real kicker here is the abundance of variation patterns that are attached so if you don't like the picture they show but like the idea (x-stitched pillowcases, small tablecloths for example) you can change the motif to one of the many they offer. Some are quite striking. I think that this book is good for beginners and most of the patterns are easy or quickly made and some are for more advanced work & require more effort or practice.

A very good book for people interested in this topic, containing a variety of articles on different aspects (and types) of bilingual education in China.

It seems an immersion approach is sweeping China, regardless of lack of resources in rural areas and insufficient preparation in terms of curricula and the training of bilingual personnel. It is heartening to read of high-up officials in China stating that grammar-translation has not worked and that an alternative approach must be found. However, the rush to get on the immersion bandwagon also has troubling implications if not funded and managed sufficiently.

Heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality - after you have worked your way through this book you will have gained a better understanding of our sexualities, no matter which! - Personally I found the contributions of the editors, R. Gindorf and E. J. Haeberle, particularly inspiring.

This series of books being an amazing source on the eastern front aviation war it is disappointing to see the first volume run out of print and used copies selling for enormous prices.

"Heinkel He 111" is one of the best books available on this workhorse of the German World War II bomber fleet. Regnat's piece is meticulously researched, focusing mostly on the technical developments of the bomber. He begins his book by describing the preceding Heinkel designs (particularly the single-engined He 70) that led to the development of the He 111 prototypes and first C and G airliner versions. Regnant then goes on to discuss the early bomber versions, beginning with the He 111A before moving on to the He 111B, D, E, F, J, and P versions. As can be expected, most of the later discussion focuses on the mass-produced H model. The author goes beyond other comparable books by providing highly detailed performance charts and technical descriptions for each sub variant, in addition to interesting photographs and line drawings.

What makes Regnant's work unique besides the organized nature and comprehensiveness of his research are his detailed look at the He 111H's structure, from engines and landing gear, to airframe and fuel system, to machine guns and bomb load. The book ends with a photographic visual display of the He 111 in combat service, and a short section of advice for modelers.

The only potential drawback to this book is that it focuses exclusively on the technical developments of the He 111, largely ignoring the aircraft's operational history. Arguably, however, this is not a serious flaw as the operational history of the He 111 has been adequately covered by other authors in other works.
