The third edition of this superb multicultural reader in U.S. women's history provides an essential work of powerful resources blending voices new to this edition with excellent feminist perspectives. Unequal Sisters includes over twenty new essays written by women in the six years since the last edition, with contributors ranging from Joyce Antler and Ellen Carol Dubois to Vicki L. Ruiz. A powerful presentation.

The TC series is the best set of books for young people I've ever read. When I read it aloud in the evenings to my children they BEG for me not to stop.
Exciting Stories! Sound doctrine! Spiritual truths throughout.
Good for young people, adults as well as new converts.
I can't give a higher recommendation!

Visits to Terrestria is a study guide that goes along with the Terrestria Chronicles. You need to have those books in order for this guide to be useful.
If you haven't read my review on the books, these are the BEST books I've ever read (and I'm an adult) They are also my children's favorite books as well. They are so full of adventure, but they also teach so much spiritual truth in the process!! Every Christian family needs to own the whole set.
This study guide is great. We use it to ask our children questions after reading each chapter in the Terrestria Chronicles. It brings out the spiritual truths and allows us to discuss aspects of the book and how it relates to our spiritual lives.
If you're looking for a gift for a child, or grandchild, this is the set. They will love the books, and at the same time you will be encouraging them in their walk with the Lord. They are worth their weight in Gold.

I have just finished this book and I found it deeply moving and wise. The writer takes myths and uses them as a springboard to talk about the wounds that we all receive and how they can be healed.
It is not a light read or a glib self help book that gives you all you need in the title, but a thoughtful, measured and poetic way of re-framing our lives in a mythical context.
Along with the myths and his experience of working with ritual and various groups the author tells his own story of what he faced when drafted for the Vietnam war.
This book has great depth and honesty and clarity and I wholeheartedly recommend it for the thoughtful seeker. I found it powerful, engaging and a much needed antidote to both shallow self help and drab fundamentalism.

Did you ever listen or read a myth or fairytale and wonder "how does this apply to my life?" well here's a book from a master storyteller that opens a door to this question. By revealing the stories that shaped his life, Michael Meade lays out the territory of story and gives a new/old way of seeing the world for an individual and for a community as a whole. A must read for anyone to navigate this chaotic world.

This collection of prayers and meditations were led by his holiness John Paul II at the Colosseum in 2003, but was originally given in 1976 to Pope Paul VI and the Roman Curia. It was revived for John Paul II's fiftieth anniversary as pope. The images accompanying the meditations are from Marble surrounded mosaic's from St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Imogene, Iowa.

Yet another new one for me this year, this one has a unique feature that is very challenging, each of the stations has a series of 5 `points for meditation' at the end of the chapter. These points can be used collectively for a long meditation or can be used one by one on successive readings. This one is also awesome to do as a group with friends, family or at church. Escriva who was the founder of Opus Dei really takes a reader deep into the mysteries of the passion of Jesus Christ.

With all the books and devotionals out there for the Stations of the Cross, you wouldn't expect anyone to be able to put out something that feels new. But somehow, Ms. Artola did it. This little book is better than you would expect. The meditations take you in new directions and bring the last moments of Christ's life right into your own reality. I found her sketches to be equally compelling. Great contribution to my spiritual life. I have also used it with adults, teens and young adult groups.

Ms. Artola's Way of the Cross is a contemporary devotional that is both deeply moving (she wrote the meditations for each station) and beautiful to look at (she also created a drawing of Jesus' suffering for each station). If you are looking for something to re-charge your Lenten experience this is the book.

This is a spiritual self-help approach for the bereaved. They are able to ritualize loss through joining their journey with the Lord. The art work done by Sr. Angelica provides a meditative tone for the booklet. This way of the cross may be prayed all at once or in stages. It is a one of a kind book for the bereaved.

Definitely a must-have for anyone who runs rivers in the western US, regardless of conveyance. This is a comprehensive listing of major (and not-so-major) runs giving mile-by-mile descriptions of the rivers, their rapids, and points of interest. While the fact that it's out of print may lead to some errors that develop over time (the take-out on the Klamath River isn't as described any longer), the sheer volume of information in this book is too great to ignore.

I can't believe that this would go out of print due to unpopularity. This guide is too good and too popular among river rats I know. I suspect liability issues, though I really hope it is coming out again, new and improved
This definitive guide of runnable rivers in the West features detailed directions to put-ins, take-outs, mile-by-mile guides to the rivers (including descriptions and suggestions of routes and scouting points in major rapids).
I love this book so much and regard it as so valuable that I'm almost tempted to pay the astronomical and ridiculous fee of $75 to once again own a copy. But I probably won't.

Women's accheivements struggles and setbacks could not be properly examined unless one made a serious committment to understanding the interrelated issues of race, class, disability and sexual orientation in relation to gender and the predominant traits of the larger society. While the early women's history movement has been faulted for being predominantly middle class heterosexual and white, this book attempts to build a more complete future by giving a voice to the issues.
I wish everybody had access to this substantive piece of literature because it provides an excellent introductory and supplementary framework for research and even political organizing. While primarily intended for use in history courses, I believe it could be adapted for political science, sociology or even psychology.
