No matter how many novels you have read on World War II, this one will give new insights into the daily lives of the Army Air Force in the South Pacific. Robert Hill takes us into the cockpits during bombing raids, into ambulances on the airstrips, into a bar at Port Moresby and on on Guadalcanal and the Melbourne Opera House. We discover gold and pearls in a secret compartment in the hold of a coast watcher's sloop and crash among primitive islanders.
Technical flying descriptions of missions are as faultless as are the magnificent sights from nine thousand feet. In the fast-paced dialogue we follow the turning points of the war and of a poignant love affair. We are there with General MacArthur in the Office of Operations and with Antoinette as she perfoms "Swan Lake" unware of the fate of her favorite pilot, who is torn between love and duty. For an entirely believable fresh experience of the Allied encounter with Japanese Zeros in 1942, "Stars of the Southern Cross" belongs on the top of your list.

Striking the Match is a well written and well researched work that displays the effectiveness of short term missions. Dr. Robinson proposes a time tested yet fresh approach to short term missions in that the goal is to train nationals to do the work of the ministry. It is not a book that encourages short term missions for the sake of going and coming but that discipleship and church planting would multiply to the nations through indigenous peoples.

Robinson's book is extraordinarily helpful for anyone leading short-term missions. That said, I think anyone interested in missions should read this book. The trends that Robinson has identified are critical for understanding how to make short-term missions have a long-term impact.
A big, looming question after a short-term mission trip is: Did we make a difference or any impact at all? Robinson answers this question, and more helpfully, provides a framework to ensure that the short-term mission makes long-term impacts. He explains how they fit into a larger strategy. He also talks at length about how to blend what the local (field/national) leadership's vision for their country is, and our role as North Americans.
I think this book is ahead of the curve on short-term missions. I work in the short-term mission field. This book has been instructive, and now a nice reminder, of how to blend my world in the U.S. and my world overseas.

Anyone in a management position in any business would benefit from reading this book. Mr. Rosen has more or less presented a blueprint of how to deal with customers and employees in a way that is repsectful and beneficial for everyone involved. He gives many examples of real life situations in the business arena of how to better run a business through better service and communication with the customers. I like how he compares success in business to running a race: The start and finish are exciting, but its the middle miles where you have to keep your focus and get the job done. His personal anectdotes make it fun to read. As a manager myself, this book gave me ideas and examples of how to better deal with situations at work and go the extra mile in customer service to better serve the members of the organization that I work for. I look forward to reading more works by this author in the future.

"Welcome to the start of what is sure to be a successful journey." So begins Darryl Rosen's wonderfully practical and eminently readable literary journey.
Darryl, former President of Sam's Wine & Spirits, effectively combines three passions: marathons, business and family. Using the metaphor of a marathon, he shares stories, anecdotes and successful strategies that helped him make it through the challenging times and maintain wining relationships with his customers.
Each of his 26.2 chapters gives the reader no-nonsense strategies for dealing with customers in everything from effective listening and basic phone skills, to customer focused vision.
Darryl says frequently that excellent customer service is "simple, but not easy." This book is, as they say, not rocket science. Much of what it contains you already know...but I'm willing to bet you will truly appreciate the reminder.

It was the first real devotional that I had that made you actually write your response to that days message! It was really fun to do, and I looked forward to when I could sit down and spend time with God. Mr. Denson always started out with a story, and he included himself in some of the stories. He brought out specific points in the message that stayed w/ you throughout the day. He always left you w/ a "Take away thought" which summed up that days message. It was easy to understand and some of those thoughts convicted me and where a constant reminder of God's grace for me! I definitley rate this awesome devotional as a 5 ***** book!

The clarity and color of the reproductions of marine paintings in this book are nothing less than superb. While the individual styles and, to some extent, the specific subject matter of the five artists vary, I find it impossible to single out any one of them as being "better" than the others. Each is a highly talented artist who brings the past to life in a most convincing manner. While men-of-war are probably the most frequent subject of the paintings in this book, merchant vessels and ships of exploration and even of pleasure are not neglected. It is pure joy to just leaf through this volume and gaze at the wealth of images. Anyone who is fascinated by the sea and sailing ships cannot fail to be enchanted by this book.

This is the strongest book of a dynamite trilogy. When former socialite Mallory Morgan loses all her money, Gabriel Steele steps in to rescue her. Since he's the reason behind her father's disgrace, there are plenty of sparks between them.
No one writes sensual tension better than Caroline Cross and this book isn't to be missed.

About a year and a half ago, my then 10 year old son, bought these books with his own
money because they sounded like something he would like. (Knights and castles) He was
raving about how wondererful they were and read the whole series in less than a week.
My husband, wondering what all the "fuss" was about decided to read "The Sword, the
Ring and the Parchment" too. He was so impressed and too, went on to read all 7 books,
and recommended that I do too. I don't have tons of time to read, being a homeschool
mom of 6 children, but I read every one of the books in the Terrestria Chronicles and was
so blown away at not only how wonderfully written they were, but how incredibly they
were able to explain our spiritual walk with God and encourage me in my own personal
relationship with Him.
Another great plus, or maybe THE best part, is that, having read them, we are able to use
the books to refer to when explaining spiritual truths to our children. That has been so
neat. I can say, "Remember Prince Josiah when he did......" and they can immediately
relate and understand what I'm trying to show them.
These books are worth their weight in gold. You will never regret this purchase!!! If your
children love knights and castles, they will love these books. They are not just for boys
though, either. My 7yo "girly" daughter begs me to read another chapter. It even keeps my
5yo's attention. Thank you Mr Dunlop for allowing God to work through you. These
books, in my opinion, are much better than even Pilgrim's Progress!
This book is so awesome. One of my favorites. It is about surrenduring your heart to your king. It lets you see the subtle ways that Satan tries to lure our hearts from serving the Lord. Including music, tv, feminism and even sports sometimes.
This is a MUST READ for every Christian family!

though, either. My 7yo "girly" daughter begs me to read another chapter. It even keeps my
5yo's attention. Thank you Mr Dunlop for allowing God to work through you. These
books, in my opinion, are much better than even Pilgrim's Progress!
This book is written about the end times. It is easy to understand, even for children and will make the book of Revelation more understandable for all ages. It is so full of adventure you will think about it for days afterwards!

The TC series is the best set of books for young people I've ever read. When I read it aloud in the evenings to my children they BEG for me not to stop.
Exciting Stories! Sound doctrine! Spiritual truths throughout.
Good for young people, adults as well as new converts.
I can't give a higher recommendation!

This book in particular, is such a good look at evangelism and sharing the Gospel with others. It will give you a burden for the Lost and want to share your Savior with the world!!

The Story has all the qualities that great novels possess.
1. PLOT. Hill has created a plot that produces a page-turner, a cliffhanger, and a book that is hard to put down until the last word is read. Each detail about the men who flew the airplanes against the Rising Sun is so real the reader can see and feel the searing action.
2. CHARACTERIZATION. Hill's men and women come to life with a dynamic 3D effect. From the pilots who defy death as they streak across a hostile sky to the ground crew who keep the flyers flying, each character comes to life as a skilled author breathes life into each one of them. And, the ballerina with a French name that the top ace falls in love with is straight out of a sparkling fairy tale done by a master. Hill is quick to let the reader know that the Stars of the Southern Cross are the characters from the United States who grew up in places where other Americans of that time came to maturity.
3. BELIEVEABLE CHARACTERS AND SETTINGS. A master writer who lived and fought where his characters lived, fought, and died carefully etches each detail in this book. The emotions expressed by men flying during deadly combat can have only been written by an author who faced these same tense moments while flying in combat under the same Southern Cross depicted in this thrilling novel that was written of a time when the freedom of the world stood in the balance. A MAGNIFICANT EPIC!
