Silent Too Long

Having been a nurse for 30 years, many of which were worked in OB, I finally found a book that addresses the issues of all type of births, from still births, to miscarriages, to hydadiform moles, and how the women and men coped with their losses. This is a poignent book, not a sad read. It is informative on how to deal with friends, family, and oneself. The chapter type stories make this excellent because you can read a person's experience easily in a short amount of time, and when you come back, you begin with a new person's ordeal. It's like having coffee with someone as they tell you about themselves, very easy listening /reading. With today's many ways of getting pregnant, and more chances of mishaps, this is timely reading for anyone. They don't have to be of childbearing age, and the versatility of the experiences makes it so very interesting. A soft, gentle, joyous noise of things that used to be whispered about. The binding makes it great to hold too! Connie Newell, RN/BS in Allied Health/Michigan

I was fortunate enough to attend a global seminar on leading and managing change. This book was part of part of our three week course. It was very eye opening to the majority of our group as to what things in our life were causing stress. Great book to use with management team to help combat stress tha can affect job performance.

string groove rocks

I use String Groove when teaching violin improv classes. The variety of tunes keep the students interested & motivated. The accompaniment tracks are very easy to solo over & convey the proper groove for each style of music. The book is structured so that beginning improvisers can feel comfortable with all of the tunes using a modal approach. The more advanced improviser can go back & study the chords & scales. Then playing the changes yields a completely different experience. I highly recommend this book to any string player or teacher interested in broadening their musical horizons.

This is one of my favorite cookbooks, and I've only had it for one week! It has wonderful recipes, all of which have standard ingredients that I always have in my kitchen. The instructions are very easy and the results delicious! I've made several items from it so far. It even has a recipe for cookie dough to eat raw! The illustrations are inspiring and it is extremely well organized. Yet another wonderful book from Gooseberry Patch!

One man's journey into the world of feelings

"Talking Stick", by M.G. Alexander is an essential reading for anyone who considers life to be a journey. His style, which he's termed Common English, invites readers from every walk of life to delve with him into the world of feelings, emotions, romance, and growth. Alexander speaks courageously about joy and love without excess sentiment; about depression without bleak bitterness; and about loss in which hope still survives. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys excellent poetry, but more importantly to those who wish to see more of themselves in the reflections of the author's works.

Tarot For Successful Living by Norma Cowie is an excellent Tarot resource. Her approach is positive and her philosophy supports the beginning Tarot reader and adds insight for more experienced readers. I first found this book at the library in an earlier edition. I was thrilled to find the latest edition at Amazon.com. I have recommended this book to all my friends who have an interest in Tarot for personal meditation or guidance.

Great recipes with interesting local information
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1999-03-10
As a collector of cookbooks, I found this one full of great recipes! There are even suggested menus incorporating some of the dishes in the book which I found helpful in putting an entire meal together. Not only are the recipes unique and easy to understand, but it is also a "good read". Each section is introduced with a sketch and a piece of history about a New Hampshire village. Collectors of New England things will enjoy this book not only for it's recipes but also for its historical "flavor". The book lays flat on a counter for convenience, and it also has a cover that can be wiped off if you are a messy cook! Great value!!
