Your Search for Reality Will End Here!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-11-28
If you have wondered what our current way of life, current world events, and current explosion in technology are all leading to, then within this book you will find very plausible answers. The author uses an unusual writing style to capture your attention and lead you to the search for truth cleverly disguised in modern illusions of truth. This is a gripping work of fiction that will capture your attention from the start and keep you engaged in the story while all along helping you understand how the truth of our lives is being distorted by desceptive means of illusion. The events portrayed in this book may or may not come to fruition as the author has layed them out, but they JUST MIGHT! This is a must read for anyone who is curious about Biblical prophesy in light of real world modern events. This is a must read for anyone who is on their own search for what is real and what is really important in this world. I recommend you read this carefully and then discuss this with your friends and family.

Ms. Dannan's day planner "Seasons of the Witch" is simply awesome. The art is beautiful and the planner is what every busy witch needs. Discreet enough for the boardroom, you can plan your ceremonies along with your business meetings and family appointments. I have the "filler" version to incorporate into my own day timer, however the bound version is handy too. I highly recommend this product. Now it's easy to keep track of the special days of the year. Thank you, Ms. Dannan, for a great product.

Condensed, easy-to-use format: best business guide
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1998-05-20
I've bought and read many guides to Seattle, but this is the only one I want in my office. If you've every wanted a condensed, phone directory-style guide to some of the best things in Seattle, this is the one.

At the heart is a well thought out table of contents, which allows you to quickly locate your desired topic. Quicker than the blue pages, white pages, or the Internet; I love it.

This is not a high-design product, but it is very functional. For example, the binding allows the book to lie flat (no more 1-handed reading).

Highly recommended

Considering the self
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-24
Linda Brierty has written an impressively thorough series of probing questions in The Self-Inquiry Workbook, a book that speaks to the wide spectrum of human experience and suffering. The workbook offers an accessible guide to everyone, written with clear language that helps readers forge through complex psychological conditions. The book's goal, as editor Vanessa Caskey writes, is to "guide us through an investigation of the blocks and obscurations keeping us from living in harmony with our true nature...The idea is to identify and break down these defensive obscurations, at the behavioral, emotional and cognitive levels, so that we can be in touch with our pure being and live from the self, rather than be enslaved by the defensive self we have built out of fear and pain."

More than being just one more generic self-help book that crowds bookstore shelves, The Self-Inquiry Workbook is the most interactive book in this genre I have seen. Rather than merely espousing her own obviously rich and deep wisdom, Brierty translates her gift for therapeutic healing into questions, so readers do not get away with simply absorbing wisdom (or letting it slide through one's mind without rooting as the case may be!) Instead, book users/readers are pushed to discover their personal truths through intelligent questions that point directly to places inside of us that are often kept secret or dimmed.

More than 200 pages, the book is not just a short-term exercise; rather it promises a lifetime of self-examination work. The questions range from asking about how you communicate with different types of people to more philosophical questions, such as, "What is the difference between surrender and giving up?" Or, "resignation and letting go," "complacency and letting be," and "loneliness and solitude."

The book is challenging, and my technique was to handle it small section at a time. Readers can flip through the book or go about diligently processing it from beginning to end. It can be read backwards and forward and it holds nuggets of wisdom throughout, which, if you are feeling lazy, are delightful to read at any time. The questions often inspired me to respond with drawings or paintings because words sometimes came up short. And I was helped by the glossary of technical and "psycho-spiritual terms," and Brierty's informative words on core emotions, love and attachment, and the relationships we have with time, love, money and reality.

While the book should not supplant therapy, it can augment whatever professional help a reader is undergoing or be called upon during difficult times. I also think that the book, while encouraging solitary reflection, can be shared with a loved one to lead to greater understanding of each other.

I also appreciated the author's firm and kind guidance found throughout the book. She insists that the workbook be used with compassion. Rather than berate oneself - which it is easy to do because the questions require such intense examination - she asks that all the questions be approached with warmth.

There is something in this book for everyone, for the whole spectrum of personalities and problems and pain, and in the process, you will strengthen the dialogue you have with yourself to transform it into one that can guide you to health.

Very Good Book

Review Date: 2001-02-23
The book I read, Seven Firefights in Vietnam, was a very interesting book. I enjoyed this book very much and was always anxious to read on to see what would happen next. Books on Vietnam, such as this one, had always caught my interest. This book, written by John A. Cash, John Albright and Allan W. Sandstrum, all Vietnam veterans, was always action-packed and very detailed keeping this book very exciting. As I read on, the book kept pulling me in and in, and by that time it felt like that I was in the frontlines fighting alongside. With this book, with such excellent quality. I would recommend Seven Firefights in Vietnam to anyone who is interested in warfare.

I was required to buy this book for a Senior Composition Class and I have found it extremely helpful in my writings. It is a great resource for term papers and includes all the background information on the various forms of Documentation, including MLA. It also highlights grammar, overall style, and punctuation. I would highly recommend this for any college student or anyone who needs a reliable source for term paper writing.

My husband is a heart patient who is usually dissatisfied with the taste of low-fat foods, but he has really enjoyed the variety and good taste of the dishes found in Sharing The Lite!. The recipies are easy to follow and prepare. I was so pleased with the cookbook, I bought several more for my health conscious friends and they love it too!
