Great edition of a great volume!Review Date: 2008-05-15
This particular edition is a worthwhile purchase as it is spiral comb bound, so it lays open better, it is chock full of updated, editorial comments that explain and clarify some of the things Arban said that don't apply or possibly don't, and it includes a cd with accompaniment for the practices in the book.
Great book, well worth the price!

The Best Cook Book Ever!Review Date: 2007-03-18
My only problem with the book is the plastic rake binding. It can break over time. However, the content of the book is super! Great for new cooks and old ones who have forgotten how to do things right! :)

The only thing I wish I had was the Betty Crocker Cookbook my mom and grandma have. In the newer editions they have taken out recipes that I grew up eating. I have had to go back and search the recipes from my mom's book.
This is the perfect wedding gift, I know I have loved it!

Best of the series - more varietyReview Date: 2003-10-02
Some of the recipes that I really liked were the Roasted Garlic Dip, Mini Reubens, Green Olive Spread, Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken, Ranch Chicken, Sweet and Sour Spareribs, and Peanut Butter Fudge. It was really hard to pick favorite recipes from this book because everything I tried was great. This cookbook has already become one of my personal favorites. It has everything that I look for - comb bound so it lies flat, easy recipes to follow, easily acquired ingredients, minimal cleanup, and very tasty. This is a highly recommended cookbook for anyone to have around the house to prepare that elegant meal that looks and tastes like you have slaved in the kitchen all day.

Rufus Reid - Evolving BassistReview Date: 2008-03-17
Used for more than 25 years.Review Date: 2007-04-12
One of the two or three must-haves for a jazz bassistReview Date: 2002-06-18
Of all the methods out there, Reid's is the one that has really stood the test of time, and for good reason. He starts the reader off with basic scales and simple patterns for playing over changes. From there it's on through more complex scales and patterns and finally, soloing, illustrated with a number of transcribed classics.
Combine this book with the Simandl book for basic technique (and a good library of jazz albums), and you have just about everything needed to guide the beginning bass player through the intermediate stage. For a player who already had a basic classical technique, this book alone is just about all that's needed to learn to play jazz.
a "must have" for the jazz bass player...Review Date: 2007-04-25
While loosely defined as a method, the "Evolving Bassist" is really more of a well thought out approach to playing the instrument. The skills taught follow several threads of theory and practice, but it's not a beginner tutorial even though very early players will benefit from the material...and continue to benefit throughout their playing career. If one is desirous of a more basic text in the jazz genre then you must get "The Michael Moore Bass Method", probably the best tutorial currently available; the classical "Simandl" material notwithstanding. The two books and the "Evolving..." DVD really are complimentary and easily stand at the forefront of a limited field. Highly recommended.

Home hair cuttingReview Date: 2008-01-25
I was given this book as a gift. It turns out that it was a very money saving tool. This book is very easy to follow. I especially was interested in the chapter on using hair clippers.
The pages of this book lay flat, which makes it much easier to follow the instructions while actually using the clippers. It repeats the important steps on each page, so that you are not constantly turning back pages. The print is large enough to see while it sits on the counter.
I started out using the larger guard as recommended , to get the feel of how much hair was being removed. This gave me the confidence to go to the next smaller size, etc. until I accomplished my finished cut. I now use the clippers with ease, and my family members are very satisfied.

Simple, user-friendly techniques helped us save a lot of money!Review Date: 2008-01-09
This book was a huge help. My husband was able to learn new ways of cutting so that the boys were happy with the results, and they didn't look as if they'd gotten their hair done in the middle of the kitchen, which is an important thing for teens;-).
Viggiano's helpful step-by-step instructions and clear illustrations make the book very easy to use It's organized logically, and the tips included make it possible for virtually anyone to achieve good results.
I estimate that by doing all the haircuts for each of the boys for 18 years, we've saved almost $9000 (calculating one $10 haircut per boy per month for 18 years). And for the ones who are over 18, and still getting haircuts at home, the savings keep climbing.
Lisa's book will not only rescue a lot of people from bad haircuts, it will also help you save a lot of money. I highly recommend it!

Good Book.Review Date: 2007-11-14
Good solid chord bookReview Date: 2007-09-01
The only drawback I found was I thought I was buying the spiral bound edition (for ease of use). This was not the case. I was under this false impression because there is a review on this book that remarked on the ease of use because of the spiral binding. So, if binding matters to you, you may want to confirm the binding before purchasing.
Caveat Emptor -- The spiral bound though smaller in size, has fewer pages (I would expect more pages to compensate for the size). It might not contain all the chords the regular edition does. Be sure to check this out if it matters to you.
