Combs Books

I live in this part of the country, and I absolutely loved this compilation of recipes. The Mid-Atlantic is a varied region, but the authors have included recipes from cookbooks that cover many of the area's specialties. As always with this series, I have yet to find a recipe that does not come out well. I have made several of the cakes and they were all superb (esp. the One-Step Poundcake). There are also several very good crabcake recipes and one of the best Eggplant Parmesan recipes I've ever tried.

The seafood recipes in this book are a particular strength, which is appropriate for this region. In addition to the crabcakes, I would recommend the Maryland Oyster Bake and the crab salad stuffed tomatoes (wonderful on a hot summer day).

If you want a taste of real Mid-Atlantic cooking, please give this book a try. You won't be disappointed!

The food in this book is simply wonderful! It has a good selection of both Tidewater Virginia recipes and also of cuisine from the Shenandoah Valley and the mountains. I grew up eating a lot of these foods and this book describes how to prepare them in a way that is very easy to follow.

This with all of the Best of Cookbooks, is an excellent cookbook. I think that it contains a wide variety of recipes that truly are the best of our state. Highly recommend. I love this cookbook.

This is a wonderful cd. I love the harmony. It has the best songs from the GVB through the years, as members changed. GREAT!!

The Best of Wheeling is an excellent example of everything that Junior League cookbooks have become famous for over the years. The recipes are time-honored and triple-tested. The recipe for Texas Caviar can almost be quoted from memory by local hostesses as this dish appears at party after party. There are several fabulous chocolate dessert recipes, including the Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Torte, graciously passed along by a locally famous "Chocolate Advisor!" However, this cookbook is not just filled with fantastic recipes, it's also filled with historical information about the city of Wheeling, WV and the surrounding community. Great to cook from and a great read...I highly recommend it!

This book has a recipe for every kind of cookie including chapters for holiday, bar cookies,specialty, giant pie-shaped cookies, and kids cookies. There's a colored picture example for each recipe, and the directions are easy to follow and laid out well. This is a great book for anyone, but especially for families who like to bake together.

Beyond the Hot Seat was the first book to integrate Gestalt Group Therapy and Group Dynamics. It is still the best of its type and offers a wide range of theory and practice. Outstanding for trainees as well as more experienced group therapists

In 2001, while in OBC training at Fort Jackson, SC, I discovered a new hobby, cookbook collecting. One weekend, I purchased my first cookbook (Big Mama's Back in the Kitchen) at a flee market in Charleston, SC. If you want, clear and concise directions, results that will always bring smiles and compliments, then this is the book for you. This book set the standard for all the books in my current collection. I have given it as gifts to friends who are both inexperienced and experienced in the culinary arts. They all have one thing to say. THANK YOU!

I have used this book regularly since I bought it three months ago. Every recipe I've tried has been a success. There are sections for beef, poultry, lamb, vegetables, and even pizza. Some recipes require marinading meat over night others for 30 minutes or less. A good cookbook for busy families.

I FOUND THIS BOOK VERY GOOD. I LOVE THE RECIPES AND THEY ARE EASY TO FOLLOW. ITS ONE OF THE BEST ITALIAN COOKBOOKS.I WOULD RECOMEND IT HIGHLY.
