This is the emergency guide we've been looking for as the long term owners/keepers of 3 quarter horses. The pictures help us visually know what we're confronting with our horses. The essential "first aid" to be given, tells us what we can do, what we shouldn't do, and relay the critical information to our vet when we call. Our vet is over-burdened, as all large animal vets are, and giving him the correct information/description helps him know how soon he needs to come. We can also tell him how our horse is responding to the "first aid" we've given and whether he wants us to do anything additional. The size and spiral binding makes it easy for us to keep this reference at the barn, where we need it. We're also reading through this guide now, which helps us decide what to read further about in other resources, such as the Merk Manual of Veterinary Medicine.

Dave Richardson should get a Nobel Peace Prize for writing this book. What a great resource. Every single time some oddball malady struck one of my Guzzis, he provided a fix or at least some insight into the problem that enabled me to fix it. And if you own Guzzis, you know they are chock-full of oddball maladies. If you own or want to own a Guzzi, buy Guzziology! If you sell your Guzzi, keep the book - I guarantee you'll need it again some day.

This is an amazing book about solving complicated problems simply, with a simple calculator. That the book is not more widely known is a travesty. If you are in real estate, you owe it to yourself to get the book and the calculator. The book is easily worth ten times what you are likely to pay for it.

Very Useful For Serious Real Estate People

I use this book with my HP-19BII. The keystrokes are almost totally compatible going from the HP17BII to my HP19BII. The book is a great refresher for simple keystrokes solutions like solving for the monthly payment, balloons, amortization and so forth. The book contains so much advanced and useful material that is is easy to say that the professional real estate organization I belong to would gouge us twice the cost of this book and tell us they gave a great deal. A group of agents and appraisers from our company held a private seminar using an instructor we brought in from an adjoining state. To our suprise the instructor was using algorithms right out of this book! Wow, this was gave us confidence in the value of this book. though most of us will not use the advanced software equations but company wide we received out money worth.
One of my agents called the author for help with a topic. The author was very helpful and supportive.

This is an exceptional book, worth many times over its price. However, Hewlett-packard in its "wisdom" has idiotically cancelled the HP17BII and the HP19BII calculators.
I purchased this book some time ago from amazon and called mr Tirone for help (his number is at salestime.com/hp as I recall?) He told me that he doubted he would reprint this book and that he had a 6 or so month supply.
The book is excellent and works well with the HP19BII (one of my new agents uses the book with her HP19BII) almost perfectly.
Unfortunately this fine book may go the route of the HP17BII/19BII, though if there is a replacement I feel the author will convert his 17BII book over to whatever device HP stupidly replaces the 17BII and 19BII with.

A very thorough and well prepared book. I have Mr. Tirones HP12c book and our office manager ordered his HP17Bii book. Both books are rather high level in parts but overall there is so much to choose; it is a bargain.
we have used the book in a training class; worked fine for us.
Our manager called the author several times with questions on the book: Mr. Tirone was very helpful, a gentleman.

Please Note: My Book is Compatible With THE NEWER 17BII+

Please note: My book is compatible with the newer HP-17BII+, and I was told by one user that it is compatible with apparently the "new-new" HP-17BII+PLUS Financial calculator. To get the most out of this (blockbuster!) book your HP-17B series device MUST have LET (THEY MAY CALL IT "L") and GET (THEY MAY CALL IT "G") programming capabilities.
The book's solver equations work just fine with the HP-17BII and HP-19BII series devices.
I feel the most "astonishing" part of this book is that it TRULY takes the math out of most appraisal/income capitalization--income property valuation--problems. The solver-equations/algorithms I derived took some doing but the resuls I am sure you will appreciate (along with the other 90+ percent of this labor of love!).
If you care to contact me through amazon's website I can provide you with more information on the book.

I agree with others - the stickers could be of better quality but nevertheless they are cute. I believe using this book was key in our potty-training success story. My 4 year old had NO interest in training. We got this book and hung it on the wall by the potty so every time he successfully used the potty or even tried, he would pick out his own sticker and put it on the circle of his choice. It was part of the routine - go to the potty, put a sticker in the book and what child doesn't love stickers. Before the book was filled with stickers, we have dry days AND nights, no more training pants and no accidents in months. SUCCESS! And now I'm buying a SECOND book for my 2 year old son who is now showing signs of interest in training too! Here we go again!

Paul Humann is IT when it comes to identification guides. This Galapagos ID book is no exception. It is as complete as they come, the photos are fantastic and the details are right on. Particularly useful are the notes on the abundance of each fish and the location, since so many fish have similar appearances and because the locations can help delineate one fish from another.

I tried a few others. Don't bother, go with this one.

I have been waiting for the new edition for about 6 months. Meanwhile I have purchased other Fish Identification books on the Galapagos, and it's true that the format of the Humann/DeLoach books is much more organized - putting all of the information in one place.
I had read in another review here that the new Reef Fish Identification Galapagos book that would come out in late 2003 would also contain Cocos and Malpelo islands. However, after a first scan through this edition, it appears to only cover Galapagos. I was a little disappointed in this - but still give it 5 stars because after all, it is exactly the high quality one would expect from this series. Having Cocos and Malpelo would have been a bonus.

I just returned from a week in the Galapagos islands, snorkeling almost every day. Several members of our guided group had various wildlife books, but our guide had this one and for fish it was all we needed and almost all we used. The pictures -- usually three to a page with accompanying text opposite -- are excellent for identification purposes, often showing variants. The notes include distinctive identifying characteristics. I recommend this book unreservedly for anyone planning to snorkel or SCUBA dive in the islands. I bought my copy after returning home because it so nicely encapsulates some of my best memories of the trip, but I wish I'd had it along so that I could have annotated it as the trip progressed.

Top notch and usable Galápagos fish ID field guide

Paul Humann's now out-of-print book is part of an easy-to-use, photo-illustrated series of fish and invertebrate identification books. Information is given to differentiate species, habitat and location, as well as sizes- and often, photos of different color / life phases are shown. Great for snorkellers and divers. Its replacement is not due until late 2003, and then it will cover Cocos and Malpelo Islands as well as the Galápagos Islands. When it arrives, I will undoubtedly give it my highest recommendation, with all the others in the series- well done, Paul and Ned!

For those who want a more in-depth tome, I recommend Jack Grove's "The Fishes of the Galapagos Islands" (Hard, 936 pages, 1.94" x 10.35" x 7.27" , Stanford University Press, 1997; ISBN 0804722897, cost US$130.00) - THE definitive Galápagos fish identification book for those desirous of more comprehensive information, but by its size and price, no lighweight field guide for novices.

The transcriptions are spot on and a huge time saver for anyone who wants to learn Bird's patterns and doesn't have the proper equipment or time to transcribe em' his/herself. I learn more and more through this book every day. It's absolutely worth transcribing pieces on your own sometimes but to get a collection of this magnitude, and accurate as it is, would be really time-consuming. This Eb version is a necessity for any serious jazz alto players - personally i think the some version of it should be in EVERY MUSICIAN'S library.

If you want to play great bebop lines, you immitate the master. If there is a better way to immitate the master than working this book on the metronome, I haven't encountered it yet. This book has become the standard for Bird transcriptions. If you're serious about playing bop, you won't be disappointed by this book.

There's no denying this book is considered a classic, but it could use a few revisions. It appears not to have changed at all since its original appearance in 1976, including an annoying amount of tacky and out-of-date advertisements. In one instance, a half-page ad on the second page of "K.C. Blues" replaces what should have been Parker's second solo on that tune! Many of the songs are transcribed without key signatures - adding key signatures would make transposing tunes and riffs significantly easier. There are some rhythm errors in a few of the tunes ("K.C. Blues" has one measure with only three counts, "Ballade" also has a few rhythm mistakes and is nearly impossible to read the way it's written, with its overabundance of 32nd and 64th note runs). I'm not questioning the talent of Parker - some of the other "Omnibook" reviews here are based on Parker's playing abilities rather than the way his compositions are represented in these transcriptions. The simple addition of key signatures would be a huge improvement. For less experienced students, it'd also be nice to see a synopsis of the tune beneath the title describing the song's form or the origin of the chord changes. Simple things like that could make this book even more indispensable than it has become.
Do we all have to buy this book? Despite its shortcomings, I'm afraid the answer is "yes". Surely, there's some ambitious grad student out there somewhere willing to enter the entire book into Finale or Sibelius so we can at least get key signatures and those few rhythm corrections. Please?

"Meals on the Move: Rush Hour Recipes" is sure to delight the tastebuds of anyone who tries the recipes. And the best part is that they are not only delicious but can be created in thirty minutes or less. The American Institute for Cancer Research was consulted on the preparation of the meals and many of the recipes designed to include extra fruits and vegetables. Quick, nutritious, healthy, tasty; what more could you ask for from a recipe book?
The front of the book has "Mix and Match Menus". For several given categories of menu types (Italian, Casual, Greek, Mexican, etc.) there are suggested Starters, Main Dishes, Sides, Salads & Breads, and Desserts so it is easy to plan a complete meal of complementary dishes easily.
Extras include a comb style binding so the book will lie flat when used, notation for several recipes on how to alter the recipe to make it even more healthy, nutritional facts, and Tips and Tricks.
Some absolutely fantastic choices include Spinach and Tomato Crustless Quiche, Mushroom Barley soup, and Potato Pizza (an excellent heat and eat breakfast too if any is left over).
A fantastic recipe book that should be in everyone's kitchen in today's hectic world. A highly recommended buy.

Our 39 year old daughter was ordered to stick to a high-fiber, low cholesterol diet, because of colon polyps. This book was mentioned in a newsletter put out by the American Institute of Cancer Research. Our daughter-in-law purchased the book for our daughter for Christmas. When visiting my daughter, I prepared a number of the recipes from this book. I never believed that anything so good for you could taste so fantastic. I purchased the book for myself, and our daughter-in-law said she would like to have it, too. My husband just had colon cancer surgery, so we will be enjoying even more of these wonderful recipes; and we love the fact that the dietary fiber & cholesterol amounts are given for each recipe.

I love Mexican food and this book has so many recipes that satisfy my cravings for spicy food without the saturated fat of my usual recipes. I've made a number of these dishes and I'm just amazed every time at how flavorful they turn out. My favorite discovery was the Taco Soup (so easy and tasty!) and I find I have to double the recipe if I want any leftover to freeze. It seems the recipes have similar ingredients so shopping is easy and if I decide I'm not in the mood for chicken, I can usually find a pasta or pork recipe that uses the same ingredients. I also found the desserts to be high in flavor and low in calories and fat. I learned about the cookbook through a fitness segment on the news and I just can't say enough good things about this cookbook. It's the best purchase I've made in a long time!

I have been a vegetarian for about 9 years now and have never found a better cookbook! Most vegetarian cookbooks have strange, expensive ingredients; most of the recipes in this cookbook do not. The recipes are easy to prepare and taste wonderful! Some of my favorite dishes come from this cookbook. The recipes are also very healthy. I'm a registered dietitian so I know how difficult it can be to make something lowfat, vegetarian AND tasty but this author does a fantastic job. I would highly recommend this cookbook for vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Yes, vegetarian can also mean tasty, and it can also be easy to prepare. This is a great cookbook with tremendous variety and flair. There isn't a recipe to found here that isn't relatively easy to prepare. I love cooking meat over flame as much as the next barbeque addict, but I love this cookbook enough to give it out to friends as a gift. Forget about it being vegetarian, it just a good cookbook, period. If I were limited to just five cookbooks in my kitchen library, this would probably be one of them.

Many try to capitalize on the Cajun food craze, but few are the real deal. The only thing better than the recipes in Marcelle's book is enjoying them with she and her husband over dinner from their kitchen.

Wonderful memories - Great Food!

This book is a compendium of recipes that the author has collected over the years but it is also a book that helps you understand the area around New Orleans. It is a fun read and the recipes are marvelous! I have never met the author of this book but would love to meet some day, preferably over a good pot of gumbo for a lively discussion of the region's most famous past time - good eating!

Thank you to the previous reviewer for your comments, specifically that the artwork is beautiful. My daughter is the illustrator of this book, and I know that she was able to create these pictures from her heart because my husband and I taught our children to embrace life and all persons in this world regardless of race, color, creed and sexual orientation. We are all God's children and when this world can become devoid of hate...the children of tomorrow can have a brighter future. I feel sorry for children who are taught to hate, because children, unfortunately, are a product of their environment.

I don't find it at all hard to believe that the child of a obnoxious bigot would say such things. I'm sure this hateful attitude has been ingrained since birth. Poor child! We try to highlight love and diversity in our home. My daughter absolutely adores this book. The artwork is lovely. All children should have their lives enriched by books like this.

This is an excellent book! It is wonderful to see both racial diversity and homosexuality explored in the same book - a rare thing indeed. It is important for children to see all people and see that families come in all forms and for children to learn to respect and appreciate this diverse world they will live in. Buy the book, your children will be richer for it!! I was atonished, as were others, to see the review posted by the woman who was upset by the content of the book. Clearly, she has taught her child to hate - as her child's comments suggested - and I'm not sure why she bought the book, also no parent "owns children" as she suggested. Anyhow, a great book all around and a wonderful opportunity to provide your child with a window into a world that may not (or may be) the same as his/her own.

To the negative 1-star response, I find you to be hypocritical. You claim to want to show your child the diversity in the world, yet you continue to propagate hateful homophobia. Diversity doesn't bow down to your whims and fancies, it's a way/fact of life and whether or not you agree, you have to learn to accept it. A true parent would have explained to their child, that although a homosexual lifestyle may not fit into the family's belief system, there is no excuse to treat gays differently. Wasn't that your point to begin with????

I pity your child to have such a close-minded parent and I scoff at your silliness in burying a children's book.

In a world where most trips to the bookstore end up with me leaving empty handed, its so great to finally find a book that i am comfortable sharing with my child. I am a heterosexual living the "accepted" life in a heterosexual marriage, and to me, it would be an utter crime to NOT share with my son and daughter ALL of the love on God's earth. Regardless of your religious or moral pursuasions, it is most important that our children understand love, and I am so pleased with this purchase...my children are too, and i know they will be better adults for it. Hopefully, if enough of us raise our children to respect one another we can make a difference. 123 is well written and the illustrations are brilliant. A+!
