Combs Books

I love this cookbook! I have used it almost everyday. I think the recipes are simple, yet they taste great! I really like the way they present the recipes. The extra stories are fun too! you won't go wrong in picking up this book.

This is the first Gooseberry cookbook I have. I have made many recipes out of this and have yet to make something that wasnt good and a huge hit. Everything that I have made, has been done again and again and I am excited about trying new ones. You will like this. Defintiely worth the buy!!

Antique Combs and Purses by Evelyn Haertig is an absolute joy not only for collectors but history buffs as well. This book is filled with the most beautiful pictures of antique purses and combs. It doesn't stop there though. Ms. Haertig's love for purses and combs shines through in her detailed histories and descriptions which would be perfectly fascinating even without the pictures. This book could stand alone with just the pictures OR just the writing. Luckily for the reader there are both! One of the real standouts are the pictures of the Persian Crown Jewels and a detailed description of their turbulent history. While I have been strictly an antique purse collector, this book has made me want to start collecting antique combs as well. Highly recommended!

If you are a serious purse collector, you really can't live without Mrs. Haerigs' purse book! This huge volume displays extensive full color photos of more purses than you can even imagine. The copy helps fill in some of those gaps in your knowledge and helps you figure out which purses are rare enough to spend the big bucks on! There only a few draw backs. In a couple of places, the wrong picture is reffered to in the text and you have to flip around until you find what is being refered to. Some of the text also seems to wander abit and lose focus. However, these flaws are easily outweighed by the sheer volume of pictures and the fact that the book is written by the pre-eminent authority on purses. Take a deep breath and fork out the greens, you can't become a real collector without this book at hand!!

just as Frank Lloyd Wright reflected on the environment in every situation, it was as though he were consulting a calendar, very much the Feng Shui master of homes and high-rises, and in the case of this home he uses two old concepts to great effect, making the situation one of effortless variabilty, or timeless change as we'd call it today. The only comparison I wuold make here is in the area of travel memoirs; compare Dennis Casey's aestethic views with Carleton Beals "Glass House", an auot-biographical imprint that visits Mexico, Spain, and Italy, etc.
and you get the general idea. There used to be a proverbial saying for Architecture students at Universities; accredited to 'Old Frosty' (whether correctly, we've yet to ascertain) "There is a 'WRIGHT' way... and then there is the 'Other Guys' way!" But by any yardstick-this book is great!

I've been buying FLLW glass patterns from Dennis Casey for years. I own all his other books and this is his best yet! For those who follow Wright's designs and his display of truth through art, accuracy and explanation are very important. Dennis Casey was allowed to take his micrometer into the Hollyhock house. Reading this book is like walking through the house. Each step is beautifully detailed: "...with surrounding glass, is exciting in the true since of the word. It is as if you walked into a room with a full symphony orchestra playing."

Three quarters of the book is detailed drawings, which will satisfy even the most picayune artisan among us. I'll continue to stare at these pages until I understand.

This is a fantastic book! If you are a homeschool teacher with no idea about art, this book can bring art to life for the homeschooled child. If you know a bit about art, you can use the lessons as a springboard to more advanced or in-depth projects. I enjoy art and have worked with my 1st-grader on learning different techniques with some of the art materials suggested in this book.

This book keeps lessons short, but introduces some great concepts and ideas. Best of all, my child loves it.

This art series is wonderful for anyone wanting to teach their children how to appreciate art and to create their own masterpieces. I am a homeschool mom who stuggles with art, because of my lack of talent in the area. But this is easy to follow and my boys love it. I highly recommend that you try this program.

I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE WONDERFUL. IT HAS SO MANY IDEAS FOR SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL GATHERINGS. I HAVE USED MANY OF THE IDEAS FOR OUR FAMILY GATHERINGS. THIS BOOK WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU.

I first bought this book to give as a gift. After getting it, Ididn' twant to give it away and had to buy another one. It has many easy and scrumptous recipes in it. I also have used many of the tips on backyard entertaining, like making a "rose punch", filling an old work shoe with potting soil and a plant (my guests have really raved about this one!), or using bandanas folded up for napkins. If you like backyard parties, you will be the hit of the neighborhood with these ideas and recipes.

My wife has been using this and other workbooks, after a stroke last month. I showed this workbook to her speech therapy teacher and the teacher said it was a good one and would be very useful to do. We have been going through it.
Therapy teachers like to go to a section that challanges the paitent, but we are also doing the other sections as general exercise.

This and all of Brubaker's treatment manuals are excellent, quality tools to help the professional, family and aphasic individual fight back against the frustrating problem of aphasia.

As a H.S. basketball coach I found Tom Emma's book very helpfull in guiding my players wieght training. The book gives great descriptions of all the excercises that are used, so even a beginner can start lifting the correct way. The best part about the book I found as a coach was that it is specifically made for the sport of basketball. Tom gives a full year program for the player to follow, including a calender so they can stay on track. The workouts are planned for different parts of a basketball season, post season, pre-season, and in season. I am already seeing a vast improvement with my team, and we have only been using Tom's program for three months. A Basketball Players Comprhensive Guide to Strength Training is a must for all coaches and players, it will make you feel safe sending your team into the weight room, knowing that the are doing workouts designed specifically for Basketball

I read this book and found it to be an extremely useful guide. This is not just a book that one reads an puts on the shelf. It doubles as a guide one can keep with them and use all year long. The book provides a complete personal training guide as well as great diet tips and the proper ways to stretch before hitting the court and much more.

This book is great, because it explains the mechanics of what is being taught. For anyone starting out like myself, this book is a great compliment to "Bass for dummies." When I say mechanics, it goes beyond simply making you push the "I believe" button of learning, it provides explanations.

This is simply the best bass method available. It is also one of the most comprehensive. Bass Logic covers everything from theory and technique to practical applications in different styles. Most players use their fingers for right hand techniques, but I liked the fact that it also showed picking techniques as well. (Actually, the thumping and popping was the most fun part for me.) Arpeggios, scales, intervals and even chords and progressions are discussed at length. I finally learned the neck. After reading the book I got the video which helped a lot because I like to see things demonstrated. Watching the ideas in the book put in action was the best educational experience I've had, and I've got a lot of bass methods. I've been working in the book and video for a few months now, and I haven't found anything that wasn't useful on some level. I'm starting to make that leap from "theory to practice" and it is making a HUGE difference in my playing. I wish I could give it more stars. I also wish I'd gotten it sooner.

The man that wrote this wonderful book was my uncle, Richard Bell. He was the only person I knew that would be so swept away by any type of music that he would play and play for hours. He was the best uncle I've ever had and ever could have asked for. He gave me one of his books and wrote a very personal letter inside because the year the book got published he was begining to teach me how to play guitar 1 on 1. What a wonderful teacher he was! I wish he would have started his own guitar school! I know things that you wouldn't know and I'm not going to say what happened but things turned very ugly in his life and he always new where to take his feelings...to his music. I was amazed at how long it took him to write this book, because he needed and wanted every part of this book to be absoultly perfect, so that anyone of any age over 12 would be able to understand and be able to be gifted with the knowledge of music. He would be very proud to hear that he gets 5 star ratings from people who have purchased this book. When I saw that I knew how happy it made me! So please when you read this book think of how my uncle Richard Bell would want you to learn..."just take your time, dont rush, and you'll get it!" Are the words I live by when I think about him and pick up that guitar and start playing. Thank you for your time.

I personally have read this book! The Authors have real insight and understand music more than I thought music could be understood. this book unlocks the secrets of how to compose music like the greats do(or did) - like Led Zepplin or The Eagles. timeless secrets that put it all into reach. Even though this book covers how to read and write music, it gets advanced in an amazing curve that you can follow, and ends with advanced concepts that are above the norm.
