We bought this a year ago, not a week goes by where one of our band members doesn't look through it and say wow, I didn't know this was in here. Some of the chord progressions are different from other song books, but it leaves you with plenty of room to play. For some of the unfamiliar songs I was able to put into Guitar Pro so we can learn it quickly. We had two song books to pick from and we went with this one. We'll by the other this coming year. Between them we'll have over 900 songs and I'm considering getting the hymnal fake book for when we mix in with the traditional service.

This is a fake book format, G clef for melody and some harmony parts and chord symbols over staff, no bass clef. The songs are transcribed so they fit on one or two pages. No page turning. Not ideal if you are a pianist that is used to looking at two staffs for playing.

A Must for every Worship Musician

An invaluable tool for the praise and worship musician. I am constantly amazed when I think of a song to play, I look it up and its almost always there. It has the best of all the PW from the last few years (Hillsongs, Delerious, Passion, Vinyare, Integrity, Maranatha: pretty much everything) in good condensed fake format (melody lines and chords only, which is all you ever need) with almost everysong fitting on one page, some two to a page. Well worth the price for keyboardists and guitarists alike!

Not your average vampire story. I appreciate smart, competent people who are willing to stand up what what they believe. I also appreciate heroes who are human but trying to be their best. Rosen gives us all that and a scary tale to boot. No wimps here.

A great second novel. The Tracy Cohen novels continue in The Fright Eater. Really enjoyed the growth of not only Tracy, but the vampires too. More of Tracy's personal life is revealed. Great pace and suspense. Can't wait to read the 3rd one!

Three years have passed since Rabbi Tracy Cohen had battled against the undead in Arkansas. Her life partner, Jane Weston, felt invisible and worthless in Tracy's life. In fighting the undead Tracy did God's work. How could Jane ever compete with God? Fed up, Jane accepted a TV job elsewhere and left.

Tracy joined an intelligence agency that dealt with the extraordinary. The agency sent Tracy and her small group of fighters to Wako City. The city was torn by racism and the vampires had gathered among a group of Neo Nazis who were preparing to march through a part of the city heavily populated by Holocaust survivors. Tracy's estranged family lived in that part of the city as well. And Tracy needed to see them, needed to forgive them for what they had done to her. This was made even harder since the soulless seemed to be targeting her family.

Jane happened to be in Wako City as well. She noticed the bizarre happenings and just KNEW that Tracy would be the one in town to help out the police, with her golom at her side. Realizing how much she wanted and needed Tracy in her life, Jane began her search in hope of reconciliation.

**** This seems to be book two of a series. I missed book one, but have the third book waiting for me to begin. Even so, I did not feel as though I had been thrown into an abyss. The author did a wonderful job on the characters and the novel had closure. It could be read as a stand-alone book, however, it left me eager to see what the agency throws at Tracy's little group next! Tracy's life is much like the "Twilight Zone". Recommended! ****

We all love fried food. We love it for the flavor; we love it for the crunch. Unfortunately, with the rise of serious health problems like heart disease and diabetes, many of us are forced to forgo our favorite fried foods in order to avoid excess fat. Dietician and nutritionist Elaine Magee, admitted lover of all things fried, shares her approach to healthier fried food in "Fry Light, Fry Right!" This book is aimed at those who are willing to take a chance on a different way of approaching and preparing fried food.

The recipes in "Fry Light, Fry Right!" are all reduced-fat versions of traditionally fried favorites. You will be delighted to find, however, that the fat and calories are the only things that are reduced. The dishes are full of flavor and texture. Even the most devout fried food lover is sure to enjoy Restaurant Cheese Fries, Easy Oven Potato Chips, Oven-Baked Coconut Shrimp with Fresh Pineapple Salsa and Finger-Lickin' Good Chicken. There are even "fried light" desserts, like Spiced Apple Cider Fritters and Mexican Bunuelos.

Each recipe is accompanied by nutritional analyses comparing the traditionally-fried dish to its "fried light" counterpart. You will often be amazed by the reduction in calories, fat and cholesterol when the dishes are prepared using Magee's techniques.

If you have a health problem that necessitates reducing fat in your diet or if you just want to try a more healthful approach to preparing food, I recommend "Fry Light, Fry Right!" It gives you a great way to eat right without feeling deprived.

If you are trying to eat healthy and are tired of grilled chicken this is the book for you. As a lover of all things fried I was willing to try light fried food but didn't hold out much hope. Fact of the matter is the Lightened version of Chicken Fried Steak rivaled ANY restaurant meal I have had, and I have had a LOT of CFS in the last 46 years. I decided to try the Oven Fried Chicken next and again I was not displease. It was great and equally important, it was easy to cook, easy to clean and no oil to dispose of. If you have health issues or just want to cut some fat and calories this is the book for you. And if you have a spouse that needs some help, just don't tell them this is healthy and they will never know the difference. It will be our secret. I guarantee you will not be sorry.

I haven't tried too many recipes yet, but the ones I've used have been great. I fixed the oven fried chicken when my daughter and son-in-law were visiting, and it disappeared in a hurry. There are a number of recipes I plan to use. They are all fairly simple to follow and call for ingredients most people have on hand. The recipes I've tried definitely have great taste while cutting the fat and calories of the original recipes.

This was my first "healthy" cookbook, purchased in 1973. I have used it so much the pages are torn and discolored. There is a dictionary of food, helpful for those who are unfamiliar with such things as "agar-agar, arrowroot flour, carob, gum karaya" etc. Charts of daily intake requirements, wonderful recipes, herb information, food combining rules, and more. The authors were way ahead of their time.

I love this cookbook! Way back in 1968, when the average American was eating white bread, Twinkies and the occasional canned vegetable, the Hurds set down a huge collection of easy, healthful, inexpensive, delicious vegetarian recipes. This book is inspiring on every level, and it is too bad it is out of print. But I know for a fact that at one time it was very popular, so there must be abundant used copies out there. Get one! You will not regret it!

I jest! I cannot remember the name of this recipe because I have lost touch with my age old Ten Talents Cookbook, but it was the best sesame, peanut butter cookie recipe. We lovingly nicknamed it the birdseed bar, and it was the most requested cookie recipe in my repertoire. For wondrous bread-making and great tips, nothing could beat it. Now I want it back!!

First, let me say that I am a HUGE Gooseberry Patch fan. Currently I own six of their books: Slow Cooker Recipes, Best-Ever Casseroles, What's for Dinner?, Come on Over, One-Pot Meals and From Grandma's Kitchen. I just LOVE the books. The recipes are very easy, not too fancy, don't take long and always taste good. They are easy to read and the spiral binding keeps the books open flat. I think out of all of the books, I have only made one thing that I didn't care for. They are just great, great books to have around and I love the little tips on each page, the way that every book is broken up by meats and categories and just all of the other little helpful charts and equivalents that are in each book. In my opinion, they are just great additions to any cookbook collection and I love having them in my kitchen.

For this book, Slow Cooker Recipes, I have only made one recipe so far since it is a fairly new purchase for me, and it was Spanish rice. I am making my second today from it, Saucy Potatoes and Ham, and it just really has a lot of basic recipes for the slow cooker. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of fancy slow cooker books as well, but sometimes you just want to throw the food in and go and have a nice hot comforting meal at the end of the day and not have to create a sauce, braise the meat, etc, etc, etc.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a nice, well-rounded slow cooker book to add to their collection.

Can one ever have too many cookbooks? Nope...not when they have the homespun flavor of Gooseberry Patch added to them. I collect these cookbooks and enjoy their recipes as well....another addiction...and my husband really enjoys this one, cause he gets to eat the rewards!

Try this one...it is a time saver...and gives a savory meal to boot!

This book is all about Fast, tasty, semi-homemade recipes. This book reinstates the fact that recipes don't have to be long, tedious and complicated. There is room for imaginations. You can always add ingredients and spices if you have them. I have tried lot of quick and easy recipes for my friends and their kids when they drop by unannounced and they all always loved it. I even gifted this book to my friend's son who went to college. He loves to cook and being in college he enjoyed this book because it was fast, easy and not expensive. He still says that he'll treasure this book just for those memories when he went to college. Even though, it says 400, you can make way more than that with slight variations. That is the reason I like this book. I am a Chef myself and mostly concentrate on Vegetarian food. I have taken so many ideas from this book, its just unbelievable. I am also an avid cook book collector. This book is really good. Hope you guys enjoy it too. Good eats!!!

I love this book! It is full of incredibly simple ideas, all of which are based on convenience items. We adored a recipe called "Beef Roast with Vegetables" that made use of a ready-made beef au jus. It was done in just a few minutes, but tasted like it had been cooking all day. And if that's not enough to entice you, you should know that very few recipes involve more than six ingredients. Just be warned that the recipes sure aren't low-fat!

I was very fortunate to find Larra years ago. To study with her was quite an experience. She was like no other. I highly recommend her techniques, especially for those who have problems as I did when I came to see her. She could fix problems like magic. I would never rely on a book like this alone though. Use it as a guide to what a good teacher should be doing. The best part about this technique as others have stated, is how natural it is. That is the best way to avoid problems now and in the future.

Larra could still sing beautifully well into her 80's after a long worldwide career. This alone attests to her ability to keep the voice in good health with her methods for a very long time.

A truly great book on voice training
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2003-07-23
This book has so much information I don't know where to start. The author was one of the greats as far as teaching voice and her students have gone on to sing professionally in very demanding capacities without vocal injuries and with beautiful sound - and isn't that what vocal training is all about?

There is a chapter on basic care of the voice - stuff I never knew in 8 years of lessons - don't subject yourself to radical changes in temperature, don't use numbing sprays in your throat, etc. There is another chapter on what to do for vocal nodes, another deals with diction (that chapter alone improved my tone and changed the responation to more in the mask - it was amazing).

For the voice teacher, there are exercises for developing a healthy technique in the students. It covers from beginning to advanced and there are some great chapters on breathing and Alexander Technique - which is taught at most of the Conservatories as a part of the training of serious students of voice. Very informative and has some good resources listed for further research.

Like the guy said in teh review of the previous edition, these books are not bound very well but he woujldn't be so upset about that if it wasn't one of those books you have to keep referring to because the information is so good. If it was a lesser book, then he wouldn't want to open it every 5 minutes and it wouldn't matter what the binding was like.

"Improve Your Ability To Speak English" has focused on the single greatest cause for mistakes in the English language by the average American, and that is "ignorance of case." Whether to use who/whom, he/him, they/them, "between you and me" vis a vis "between you and I" all depend upon understanding the difference between "subjective case" and "objective case." Sino Chika teaches us how to do this without having to relearn grammar. He uses the mistakes of politicians, TV news reporters, actors and actresses, to illustrate the kinds of mistakes made and demonstrates remarkably simple methods for correcting them. Helpful chapters on the misuse of the expression "Aren't I..." and on the proper pronunciation of commonly mispronounced words, make the book invaluable to anyone wishing to avoid sounding stupid!

This book is very helpful. The explanations are clear, concise, and easy to understand. Using this book I was able to understand not just the rules we use for English grammer but also why the rules make sense.

Because the book not only explains the rules but also the reasons behind them, you can understand the logic associated with them. Once you know the logic, it's easy to construct grammatically correct sentences.
