What I would like Mr Miller to do is right something similar to How to Live with a Neurotic, since I am an abused spouse.
Tom Miller - where are you?Review Date: 2004-11-10
It puts the main irrational thoughts into easy to remember (and creative) statements. It's just an excellent explanation which helps reinforce REBT principles. One of my top 3 favorite REBT books.

The Book That Won't Let You Kid Yourself.Review Date: 2003-07-16
The "Unfair Advantage" doesn't let you get away with this. You don't read this book, you do it. Have your pen or pencil ready, as you will be filling in a lot of spaces doing the exercises. The diagrams and exercises will unambiguously show you how and where you are doing yourself in. And how to rectify it. And some of those exercises are just plain cunning.
The book is based on the ideas of Albert Ellis's Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (i.e. it's not one of those business hype books, or some New Age spiritual awakening type book - it is legitimate psychology). It tackles problems of depression, anger, rage, inadequacy, embarrassment, anxiety, shyness, inferiority and hurt.
The only thing I didn't like about it was the title - the only "Advantage" is to yourself, and I can't see anything "Unfair" about it. The author states what the working title for the book was, "You're not a sh#t, and I can prove it". This equates with Ellis's ideas e.g. that shyness is a high class term for sh#thood.
I think the working title more accurately reflects the book's content. Perhaps it's time for a new edition, changing only the title of this amazingly well thought out book.

In all my years reviewing books, I have never come across one so packed with useful information on this topic. Although the subject matter is very broad, Vick breaks each topic down into manageable subjects offering insight and wisdom within each one.
Establishing the legal status of your business is an important first step and the options are explained very well. Of course, being an accountant myself, I was very interested in the chapter on business taxes which proved to be comprehensive and easy to read.
With the internet offering endless possibility for the business world, a large section of the book is dedicated to website strategies and promotion. Vick has obviously done her homework and compiled extensive resources for free website hosting, free internet access and free website submission services which provide an affordable way to get your business off the ground.
Profiles from successful professionals have been included offering both advice and encouragement as you enter this realm.
A fabulous book at an incredible price! I definitely recommend reading this book if you are considering the idea of working at home. You will not be disappointed!

Much like Joseph's Campbell's The Hero With A Thousand Faces looks into the mythological archetypes and the hero's journey, this book - delving into Jungian archetypes - manages to break down into what makes a movie work or not work, and provides examples of each.
It's definitely changed my outlook into writing and will probably change yours too!

I highly recommend this research for anyone, especially potential film investors!
If you are a producer looking for a hit screenplay, you need to know these elements when you pour through all the scripts and treatments to find that gem. If you don't know these secrets you risk gambling on a major loss, a negative return on your investment, which will sour you from being a part of the positive experience that is making films that will touch a persons heart.
If you're a screenwriter who wants to know all those "lies your film teacher told you" then buy this book now!
If you're an avid film goer, you might be interested in knowing what secrets got you to see a movie or not.
This is a multiple read. Get it!
