Having known Collen since college, I can attest to her flair for comedy, dialogue and plot. We've collaborated on a few writing projects together, and her talent as a writer an an editor is unparalleled. As a comedy writer (and peformer), she's combined the best of both worlds in this engaging tale of love lost, found, and rewarded. It's a definite mood elevator!

Collins's "Married After Breakfast" really delivered!

What can I say? Another heart-stealing, hug of a tale by talented author Colleen Collins. I look forward to every book she releases and mourn each ending, knowing I will have to wait a while longer for the next humorous romp. MARRIED AFTER BREAKFAST was no exception. Every time I prop my feet on my ottoman, I think it's going to meow . . . . Don't have a clue what I'm talking about? Well, heck, order the book! (You won't regret it. Scout's honor. Would I lead you wrong?)

You'd have to have a screw loose somewhere not to fall for

Bride on the Loose! Renee Roszel packs an island with the zaniest crew since Gilligan's Island. Dana's a fiance who dove overboard and ended up on Beena's cat-filled island, and Sam's the vet who rescued Dana from her watery plight. He could be the man of her dreams, but it's hard to have dreams when you have no memory . . . or are pretending to have no memory! They say laughter is the best medicine, but it's an even more powerful drug when combined with love. Dana and Sam provide readers with a dose of both!!

Leader's Guide To Transform An Enterprise For Learning

Purington & Butler do an outstanding job of providing a systematic approach to managing positive change in training & development. The book is full of very specific & useful recommendations to upgrade an organization's culture cost effectively and gain competitive advantage in its ability to learn quickly. It shares many examples of what worked well along with a few examples of flexibility with plans that needed to be changed. The only negative to the book ... and it is only a minor negative is that it sometimes repeated some of the examples. If you are in a training department, are in a position to influence or approve a training department's strategies or are selling & marketing to the training & development market ... this is a must read!!

The next "bible" for Training Professionals

Purington and Butler have succeeded by detailing how to implement the strategy they so clearly recommend in the book. The book sets forth in an orderly and easily understood manner the steps that will greatly improve any training department. If there is any one book that will pull it all together for the training professional, this is the one. A must read book.

This book provides a step by step process to make any training department successful. The book is written in easy to understand language with detailed success strategy for creating the ideal learning organization. Most training books fail to inform the reader how to execute the strategy they are recommending. Purington and Butler have done a masterful job putting the detail in the puzzle. Outstanding and a must read book for all training professionals!

I grew up on a steady diet of the Chalet school series - now I want my daughter to do the same. This book is one of a series - like M&M'S - once you eat one, you have to devour all.

One of the best in the series

"Rivals" is unique in that it deals not only with the Chalet School Girls, but with a entire new group: the students of "Saints", a new school across the lake that competes with the Chalet School in every way. The Chalet School girls, including Joey Bettany, must learn to deal with girls from different backgrounds and with decidedly different ideas and attitudes from their own. Through trial and error, between staff as well as students, the Chalet School makes way for the newcomers. This book also plays on the early married life of the founder, Madge Bettany, and her often mentioned twin, Dick Bettany.

The chronicle of Jo's last year as a Chalet School girl. We experience with Jo what everybody feels at that certain stage in life the reluctance to grow up and leave behind a carefree childhood and to emerge from it as a responsible adult.

Jo's last year and she is made head girl, is given the responsibilities that she loathes and really has to pull up and leave behind childish antics. There are difficulties all around with Robin's illness and the middles worse than ever and all this calls for a responsible Jo who can take command of all the varied difficult situations that the term holds for her, Jo really has to grow up.

I loved this book because I could relate to it and sometimes I could see myself in Jo's place facing the "change" that at first seems so horrid yet is the mysterious doorway to the second stage of our lives.

A Gorgeous edition and a must read for all those who don't want to grow up.

I simply love the Chalet School series and The Chalet School at War is my favourite book in the collection. The characters seem to come alive in the background of the Second World War. Besides the enchanting story ,The Chalet School at War is also very good as a resource for historical facts of the Europe in the blackout and rationing days. While reading it I felt as if I had been transported to England in the 1940's ,laughing and crying with the beloved Jo and the whole gang. If you like school stories or historical fiction dont miss this book because I bet you are going to love it! I think this book is aimed for kids 12 and up, but I think any child would enjoy it.

The Chalet School at Wat is my favourite book in the Chalet School series. The plot is really interesting and the characters seem to come alive while the Second World War changes the lives of everyone in the school. I think this book is not only a pleasant reading but it is also very informative. Its filled with historical information about how people lived during the war,in the years of blackouts and rationing. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys school stories or historical fiction. Even though it says in the amazon.com page that this book is aimed for children from 4-8 I think its rather wrong, I think this book is for kids 12 and up, but if parents wish to read it for the younger ones they will enjoy.

Great book! Gives good detail on what to expect from different procedures and a ballpark figure as far as cost is concerned. The book gives the up side and down side to procedures and provides very accurate information on which to make an informed decision. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about a cosmetic fix to read this book first!

This book has the simple to read feel that a non-clinician needs but with all the detail you would ever want to make an informed decision about plastic surgery. The drawings and pictures make it more accessible to those of us without MDs after our names. It is clear that lots of people are unhappy with their bodies, and Dr. Copeland makes no bones about legitimizing those complaints. It's refreshing to finally read that it's OK to take that extra step in order to feel good about yourself.

The author's approach to telling the stories of the families of Chinatown makes the book credible and interesting. Few people realize that Chinatown is much more than a destination for buying imitation purses and cheap watches - Chinatown is a vibrant community where many families have made there home for decades. Seeing it from their point of view makes it come alive. Chinatown is truly one of NYC's greatest communities.

BEST book BY FAR about New York's Chinatown

This has Got to be hands down the BEST ever written, photographed, illustrated and designed book about Chinatown New York I have ever had the pleasure of coming across. Ms. Volkwein has done an Incredible job collecting the pertinent history, personal testimonies, fun and interesting facts regarding the Chinatown culture and it's people. She made it darn near sound like Disneyworld (in the best way mind you) You cannot read most parts of this book without planning in the back of your mind when you'll next trek down to Chinatown for some soup dumplings or fresh seafood dishes. If you've ever seen the movie, "Eat drink Man Woman", Ang Lee's underated movie about a Chinese Chef and his daughters,
you can remember craving a Chinese meal afterwards. This book makes you swallow just as hard. Beautifully composed and so descriptive that it highlights all there is that makes Chinatown the jewel it is. As a Chinese person who has not lived in Chinatown but spent a great deal of my life visiting it, the book made me appreciate the nieghborhood so much more. I learned so much about this everchanging downtown enclave. the next time I spend time there i can safely say I will take more time and enjoy exploring some of these little known treasures that abound from this book. on another note, this is also one of the most POSITIVE books/press concerning this part of historic lower Manhattan that i've come across in years. Ms.Volkwein's focus was set and the tone of the book was clearly set on entertainment, culture and the area's pleasant aspects. Down to great photos and nice touches of calligraphy, the book's design is real easy on the eyes. It was a TRUE delight and I highly recommend this book to anyone as a mandatory precursor to their next Chinatown visit. Ten Thousand Felicitations Ann!

I was looking for a gift and stumbled across this incredible book. What a fantastic design! The historical photos and pictures of modern-day Chinatown are spot-on for all the romance and bustle of the neighborhood. But as I started reading, I realized it's one of those rare books that is just filled with real information--really fascinating information about the history, culture, and food. It is truly an anthropological tour of the neighborhood.

Although I've lived in New York most of my life, I've always been intimidated by Chinatown. This book beautifully and reverently presents the area in all its history, diversity, and complexity....And of course the food! I recommend it for people like me who aren't familiar with the area, but also for anyone who knows it well--a gorgeous homage to the Chinese immigrants and their history.

Ms. Lady Henrietta's books are always great. There are many interior designers who write books to put on the market.....but I haven't yet seen anyone who consistently puts out wonderful books like she does. They are the best!! I am a sold sucker on her books. I feared that since she has so many decorating books out there, that they would do nothing but repeat themselves. But was I ever wrong?!! Always comprehensive, detailed, yet never over the top. Her books are always easy to understand. The royal lineage of her family surely puts her in a super huge advantage in that she is always around the beauty in the country homes of England's countryside of Oxfordshire and surrounding areas. I am planning to get each and every book she has written to include in my design library. They are great inspirators.
You will never go wrong with her books. :-)

As author/publisher of this book done in memory of my mother, Alice Ellison Pitts, who started the book, I'd like you to know its contents. The family stories written by descendants of Collin County early settlers are personal, varied and contain an abundance of Collin County history. The book, 9"x12," contains 548 different family stories in alpha order, has full surname index, and also has over 350 family photographs.

Volume II of this work is under production and a call for materials is out. You are invited to submit your Collin Co. related stories.

PROS

- Each word entry has an example. It is drawn from Collins' bank of English with 2.5

billions of real Englis words. This help the readers to use the word in natural expression

and grammatically correct. So far, it's the only dictionary that offers this useful feature.

It has saved me from hours of frustration while writing technical documents and

correspondence.

- You get two dictionaries for the price of one! It comes with a Dictionary CD rom

containing the printed copy of the dictionary TOGETHER WITH pronunciation and 5 millions

words of real English. This means you can look up the words, pronunciation and examples very

quickly. This is a unique offer.

- It is well organized. Each word entry is printed in blue. Its definition is in black.

- The price is unbeatable for such a good and comprehensive dictionary.

CONS

Once in a while, there is a word with unclear definition. At that time I have to consult

another dictionary. But after that I have to come back to Collins dictionary for examples.

To sum up, this is the BEST that YOUR MONEY CAN GET. I wish I had it while I was in school.

It would have helped me understand my lessons quicker. Every high school and college student

should have one copy.

I owned a copy of an old edition and it is because I remembered how good that one was that I eventually purchased this one, which is even better.

Aside from what other reviewers have pointed out, I find this to be the perfect tool for people with ADHD and the reasons are:
1) it gives example of real English, allowing you to pick up patterns
2) it tells you not just which kind of word you are reading (adj, verb, noun, etc) but also the general meaning that specific word is used for (ie: disapproval, expression of feelings, emphasis, etc)
3) it lets you know whenever an equivalent (or similar) phrasal verb exists to mean the same thing
4) it highlights the difference in pronunciation whenever a given word can be used both as a noun and as a verb
5) it lists all the idiom a particular word is used in
6) at the end there is a blue section called "access to English" with a long subsection on how to write an essay
7) words can have one, two or three diamonds depending on how vital it is that you learn their meaning (1 being you MUST know them, 2 being you should know them, 3 being you will sound great if you learn it)

What else can I say? This dictionary just ROCKS!

Best for students AND teachers!

I teach ESL to adults and this dictionary is the best! It defines words and phrases in complete sentences, indicates which words are the most used, and distinguishes between American and British English, which helps when someone learned English in Europe. I highly recommend it for both students and teachers. (But get the hardcover; you'll quickly wear out the paperback!)
