History comes aliveReview Date: 2005-01-28
The story is about a boy, Paul, and his father taking part in the first vote as our new nation was forming. We get to know about their everyday life including, glassmaking, charcoal making and building a home.
I recommend this book to anyone with an interest in colonial life. We used it as part of our Maryland State history study. Historical fiction as a supplement to our regular history books really makes history come alive.

About the Authors
Scott Gardiner is a Senior Hardware Engineer at Intel and holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Since joining Intel in 1997, Scott has made significant contributions to various high-speed interconnect and PCB designs. Involved with PCI Express since its inception, Scott was the lead engineer on one of Intel's first prototype PCI Express boards and a key contributor to Intel's first PCI Express desktop motherboard.
Dave Coleman is a Platform Application Engineer with 19 years of electrical engineering experience. At Intel, he specializes in electrical modeling and simulation of PCI Express platform designs. Dave is the co-author and editor of Intel's PCI Express Design Guide, and regularly contributes articles to Printed Circuit Design magazine.
Stephen Peters leads a group at Intel developing methodologies for validating next generation chip and board-level interfaces for PCI Express. Over the past 15 years, Stephen has designed high-speed bus interfaces and solved signal integrity issues. From 2001 through 2003, he served as chair of the I/O Buffer Information Specification (IBIS) Open Forum and continues to be major contributor to the IBIS specification.
Mohammad Kolbehdari is a Senior Staff Hardware Engineer at Intel involved with PCI Express interconnect design and simulation. He developed a 3D full-wave modeling methodology for high-speed bus and package design used extensively throughout Intel and is currently creating second-generation PCI Express design guidelines. Mohammad holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and is a regular contributor to IEEE professional journals, COMPEL, and Journal of the Franklin Institute.

An Artist's Love of SavannahReview Date: 2008-04-28
At the time of this review, "Picturing Savannah" is a handsome accompaniment to the more than120 of Murphy's works from private and public collections now on exhibit at the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah.
Murphy knew the city intimately, not ony its landmark buildings and outstanding architecture, but also the city at work, its more humble homes and its busy waterfront. He has portrayed all of this in his paintings and sketches and the book also includes a section of his portraits and still lifes.
It is Murphy's genuine love and respect for Savannah's many sides that allows him to capture the essence of this extraordinary southern city.
"Portraits of Savannah" is perfect for those now living in Savannah who love the city and its history and for those who have visited Savannah and wish to remember and re-capture the feel and allure of the city.
This book is a rare talisman of Savannah.

Delbeke et al hit a home runReview Date: 2002-06-04
The early chapters on the history of PET and the physics of PET are very helpful in understanding the basic science and political milieu involved in the subject. It is sad that this technology, with so much to offer suffering patients, has been held back by regulatory red tape and government shinanigans. PET still suffers in this regard to a large extent.
The later chapters are very instructive in pitfalls, normal varients, and in demonstrating "real" clinical cases, from the basic to the complicated - just as a practitioner sees in a "real life" practice of taking care of sick people.
If you are involved at any level with FDG PET imaging, I cannot recommend this book more strongly. You will find many useful pearls, broad understanding, interesting background, and exciting cases that will aid you (and your patients) immeasurably in delivery of state-of-the-art care in the foundation of 21st Century Medicine!
Well done, Delbeke and crew!

'Market & Cianci Streets, September 2003' on page sixty-nine is typical I think. A corner shot with shops, apartments above, commercial signage, parked cars, street furniture and some people frozen at exposure time with shadows creating dimension and depth. A similar photo is 'Main & Market Streets, October 2000', both images are full of detail and texture and pull you into the frame.
Of the ninety-nine photos twelve are called Early Work 1967-1971 with the remainder from 2000 to 2005. There are three spreads of street scene shots, taken with a 35mm camera, with three stacked photos on each page, all the others are whole pages and taken with an 8&10 view camera which explains the rich detail.
I think it is worth commenting on the book's production because, in this case, it really is a plus for the images. The photos are printed in six hundred line screen which really is on the cutting edge of what is possible on a printing press. Most photo books in my collection vary between 175 and 250 but the publisher no doubt thought that to capture the detail in these photos it was worth the extra effort and this obviously required a better paper, too (200gsm Hello Silk). The end result, I feel, is not far short of looking at an original print.
George Tice's photos and the amazing production quality of Paterson II lift this book way above the ordinary and I think thanks should go to James Mairs, publisher of the Quantuck Lane Press for having the vision to produce such a beautiful book.
