Presents some of the most ravishingly beautiful vintage print reproductions from the collection of Margaret W. Weston. The well-connected wife of Cole Weston, Margaret W. Weston opened a gallery in Carmel in the 1970's, offering rare prints that were relatively affordable then and fetch unheard-of sums today. Her taste was impeccable and, while she was partial to the early masters, very broad and diverse. The photographs in this collection focus on the true greats: Julia Margaret Cameron (the print shown is now in Peter Beard's private collection), Paul Strand, Man Ray, Josef Sudek, Ansel Adams, Irving Penn, Andre Kertesz, Walker Evans, Frantisek Drtikol, Imogen Cunningham, Margaret Bourke-White, Eugene Atget, Tina Modotti, Bill Brandt, and Robert Frank as well as her father-in-law Edward Weston. "Encompassing works from the 1840's to the 1950's, these striking photographs display a wide range of subject matter and demonstrate the rich tonality achieved through a variety of printing processes, including albumen, salt, cyanotype, platinum, and silver gelatin" (Dale W. Everyone loves pasta in one way or another and I am noe exception. Recently I found myself becoming bored with the same old pasta dishes. This book has renewed my enthusiasm for pasta. The dishes range from the simplest to the more time consuming masterpieces. It contains a recipe for every ocassion and every person!

Gregory Cole is a poet who dwells on, and in, a land of metaphysical shadows. The poems of Pausal Sighs are not open, but hermetic; the images are clear and light, yet the atmosphere is a thicket of surreal impressions and anxieties.

Liebert and Liebert's Personality is superb. Using four major strategies (Psychoanalytic, Dispositional, Environmental, Representational), the authors delve into each major theory as if they themselves had been its formulator. Then, they turn around and fervently critique the same theory they had lauded only a few pages earlier, all the while relating connections among seemingly fundamentally distinct theories. The effect is sensational. As someone who has very little background in Psychology and who is boning up on the subject in order to pursue a graduate career in the field, I thank The Liebert's for their hard work and diligent research. I look forward to the next edition.

A simply awesome book with very clear explanations and illustrations for high school human biology classes and up! Perspectives in Human Biology starts with cell and tissue structure and function, moves on to organs and organ systems, and then to human behavior, human evolution and human genetics. It is perfect as a reference book for ANYONE working in science! (We used it today to help figure out a 5 yr-old's problem on why skin wrinkles when in the bathtub for a long time. No, the book does not include science experiments BUT it was able to remind us of how cells work with osmosis.) Besides being a reference book, this text could easily be applied in an advanced high-school biology course and in college-credit courses. It is clearly readable and technically covers all the bases in human biology. (We tried it out on middle-schoolers but they are doing plant/animal biology rather than human biology in middle school). If you are looking for a human biology reference or textbook, we strongly recommend considering this book as it will certainly meet all your needs. From The Science Spiders(TM) News.

GREAT! Repeat, GREAT! workbook. My daughter loves doing "homework" in workbooks, and she picked right up on phonics with this one. Unfortunately, since she's gotten this one and a few others, she can now recognize words I "spell" out to my husband... so I guess we're left with pig latin.

I used this book as a supplement to my A&P lab. I found the pictures to follow along with every lab chapter that included microscope work (which was almost all of them), including skeletal, cardiac, & smooth muscle tissue, and the many types of epithelial and connective tissue. It also gives some great photos of the cranium, vertebrae, and all other bones of the skeleton, skeletal muscles of the human body, a cat dissection, and many more photos. The quality of the photos are first rate and very helpful. There is little time in lab to memorize all of the types of tissue and bone seen through a microscope and this caused us all some stress to know we had to memorize these microscope views for the following week's quiz. There are few locations where you can find microscope photos outside of class, and this is one of them. I found that I often had an advantage over other classmates by studying from this book outside of class for the next quiz. And, I did get an "A"!

I'm a Biology Professor. I bring this altas to class when I teach plants and the students love it. It has great colored pictures, lots of labeling and an excellent reference when they look at slides.

As a physical education teacher I found this book very helpful for pickle-Ball strategy, study guides, written tests and skill analysis formats. A nice addition to one's physical eduation library!!
