The Road to Democracy in Iran is a very short but well written book. Akbar Ganji proves to be a clever man as he easily highlights the situation in Iran. The book is written very objective and impartial.
I highly recommend this book!

I felt that this book is not only a beautiful book on art and gardens to own, but qualifies as an "Everyday Reference" for our Architecture office. The photographs by Becky Cohen, 2000 Alfred Eisenstaedt Award winner, were reason enough to give this gorgeous book as gifts to friends as well as other Associates in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Interior Design. The images she took relay the purposefulness and soulfulness of the design of the gardens, which in turn, connects and inspires the Designer in their own field, whatever it might be. As a reference book to Designers, the book surpasses it's own purpose to show the incredible Getty Gardens and to view the dialogue between Weschler and Irwin, which at times, I'm sorry to say, can be dull and stupid sounding. However, the compositions and textures of the photographs are just too stunning to harbor that opinion of the dialogue for very long. In the book, you feel you might realize that Cohen's immensely thoughtful compositions of the garden photographs are a better art itself than of the artistic gardens. Again and again, with every page, they follow one after the other to reveal a new thought, not just about gardens or a particular spectacular plant or flower, but about how you see them. It inspires a desire to see them for yourself, as she does, to open an intimate experience with nature. Each image impresses that the two dimensional beauty you see in front of you might be part trickery. The "real" gardens couldn't have that much beauty! But, of course, when you visit the gardens, they do. Cohen is merely brilliant at capturing it. As you find the last of the images at the end of the book, it reminds me of the wonder you feel when you see anything beautful for the first time, it sort of makes you hold your breath and makes your heart skip a bit.

Rosie And Roger is a quite charming picturebook about two animal friends. Rosie is a pig with a straight tail and Roger is a mouse with a short, curly tail. Rosie's and Roger's tails make them different from their pig and mouse friends at school, and subject to much teasing. Then, one day they find each other. Delightfully written by Rik Dessers and enhanced with the artistry of Hilde Schuurmans, Rosie And Roger is a very highly recommended tale with an abiding lesson for young readers everywhere on the virtue of tolerance and the true strength of friendship.

This book is very helpful with calculus. It's great for classroom learning and for home learning. It's pretty straightforward, not one of those babying books, its just enough for the average learner.

This small work is a collection of yearly lectures given by teachers from JTS from 1967 to 1974. Among those included are highly respected teachers : Louis Finkelstein, Robert Gordis, Sidney Greenberg, Yochannan Muffs, . Finkelstein takes a look at the moral crisis of contemporary times and argues for a greater emphasis on traditional Jewish values. Gordis writes of the importance of Education in Judaism, and discusses the proper way to instill Jewish values. Greenberg in what I found to be one of the most interesting essays talks about 'freedom and independence of thought in Judaism'. He provides a lot of examples from Gemara and other traditional Jewish sources to show how highly independence of thought and mind are considered in Judaism. Muffs looks at the Jewish way of relating to the world, and finds in it a prescription for wisely serving God and Man.
I found this work especially enjoyable to read, rich in ideas, inspiring.

After viewing Allan Cohen's slide show history on the "Haight-Ashbury in the 60s" CD-Rom, I decided to buy the SF Oracle Facsimile Edition. It is a beautifully crafted treasure trove, which allows you to go back in time and revisit the days of Haight-Ashbury in its purest form, from the point of view of the artists and mystics of the day.

Though I was only 12 years old during the Summer of Love, I used to shop on Haight Street until one day I was told I couldn't go down there anymore because of the Hippies. Of course I went anyway, and became hooked on the colorful posters and music. Let this book be your guide to a really interesting time in our history.

LONG LIVE THE SAN FRANCISCO ORACLE!!! This is one of the best publications of history. You can print out everything and color in stuff and there are colored pages, too. Has all 12 issues with all of the fun, pictures, articles and stories! There are many typos in the articles-but this is natural due to it being underground, cheap (15 cents a copy!) and from the 60s. Get it-you won't regret it!
