This book is a great introduction to preparing and enjoying French cuisine. If you have been intimidated by the idea of cooking French, but enjoy cooking, then this book is for you. I have prepared entire multi-course dinners using the recipes in this book with excellent results. The salads alone have become a major feature for summer dinners.

The book provides a series of easy-to-follow recipes with big color pictures. I find that when I can see what I am trying to make, it is easier to follow the directions. There is a section in the back of Basic Recipes (stocks, sauces, and pastries) that should not be overlooked, even in this day of canned stocks and forzen pastry dough.

When William Cohen edited the French version of this book in 1981, The French press was really aggressive and bitter.

This book is a classic,because it destroys the French myth of "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" , ( Liberté, égalité, Fraternité) between human beings.

Healthy Food CAN be delicious. This book covers wheat/gluten free, dairy free, processed-sugar free recipes and valuable nutrition to enjoy staying healthy and eating glorious food from nature. Whole food Vegan recipes for raw foodists as well as cooked food enthusiasts are included. Additionally, Annie's extensive background in wild edibles also adds a lot of variety, color, nutrition and creativity to may of the recipes.

This is a great collection of the work of Nietzsche. However, you can get this book in any store in the U.S for less than $20. I do not know who is trying to sell it for the outrageous price of $199

I read this book in two days. Dr. Cohen's articulate and accessible account of her own journey as a patient, informed by her knowledge as a practitioner, really clarifies the difference between psychoanalysis and other forms of talk therapy. Having felt rather isolated as a layperson undergoing psychoanalytic treatment, finding a book which so adeptly describes the intensity of the process at it's most effective has been an affirming gift.

Mr. Cohen captures (in verse) life and living from the 30's on. Very touching for an old-timer like myself.

Leonard Cohen is a beautiful poet, and a brilliant writer. His work is touched with such darkness, but there's so much beauty in the sickness he talks of. He seems to have discovered so early in his life a patience and sense of futility beyond his years.

Exceptionally well-written, well-published, well-illustrated book, with a lot of depth, beautiful watercolors and precise maps. Nature writing at its best. Highly recommended.

This book is probably the most concentrated source of material on the Great Locomotive Chase that I have ever seen, and yet is presented in a highly readable format. Mr. Bogle has provided an impressive array of data on both engines and many rare photos of them from the 19th century up until today, as well as a prodigious amount on the participants themselves. Paintings and drawings by Wilbur Kurtz graphically illustrate key events in the raid and bring to life an event that today still captures the imagination. With chapters devoted to the films made of this event and of the Medal of Honor (first awarded to the raid participants), this book is guaranteed to provide many hours of fascinating reading for not only the railfan or modeler but also the Civil War historian.
