Cohen Books

Most engineering books provide thorough mathematical details that are intended to provide depth on the subject matter. Often times, the fundamentals are drowned in calculations that may not be of relevance, or perhaps do not add any value to the course, especially if it's intended to be introductory.
This book does a great job in presenting Power Engineering concepts in a clear and concise fashion. I highly recommend this book if you're new to power systems, or if you wish to polish your knowledge of the fundamentals. Definitely a must have!

I haven't found a hardcover print yet, though.

Embracing Heaven & Earth is a 96 minute recorded talk by Andrew Cohen when he addressed an attentive audience at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Cohen laid out the complete foundation of his teaches of liberation which he refers to as "The Five Fundamental Tenets of Enlightenment". Very highly recommended for students of Eastern Spirituality, metaphysics and religion, Embracing Heaven & Earth gives listeners an clear and intimate exposition of profound spiritual laws and conveys their immediacy, significance, and life-transforming potential.

Yet another good read to remember the Holocaust. We should never forget and this reminds us yet today that the human spirit is more powerful than any crazy dictator.
Highly recommend.

The title of the book could have been easily "Empirical Methods for Computer Science" or even "Empirical Methods for Science."

The goal of the book is to give a gentle but solid introduction into empirical research, experimental science and interpretation of data.

First four chapters are really a must-read for anyone who is interested in empirical methods. In the first chapter "Empirical Research", the author lays the foundations. Chapter two "Exploratory Data Analysis" starts with the fundamentals of statistics of one variable and introduces time series and execution traces. I really loved the "Fitting functions to Data in Scatterplots" subchapter. The introduction continues in the third chapter "Basic Issues in Experimental Design" where we learn about control, spurious effects, sampling bias, dependent variables and pilot experiments. The author gives some nice advices here. Fourth chapter is "Hypothesis Testing and Estimation" and this one concludes the introductory part.

Chapters 5-9 are a little bit more advanced and somewhat biased towards Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence but could be an interesting and refreshing read to anyone who wants to get a solid foundation to experiment design, execution, data collection and interpretation.

The author uses experimental data generated by a system called "Phoenix" (which he codeveloped) as the main example in the book.

Bob Cohen has been around for years. This book is really good but too expensive for my blood. I read a copy of this book when I was a salesman for a auto dealership a few years ago. If you can find any books by COHEN or STUKER at a decent price I would say buy them. Another great car sales training book is "Automobile Sales Training and Tips From The Pros" contrary to what S. Scotty Davis or Hardluck say. Any of the books I just mentioned will help you sell cars. Get them if you can. Again, Bob Cohen is a legend in automobile sales but the price is pretty high. Hey S Douglas "Scotty" why are you slamming every car sales book but ZIG Zigler? Everyone take a look at all of S. Douglas "Scotty" reviews concerning car sales. He puts almost everyone of them down but praises Ziggy's book. What's up with that? SUSPICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used this book a great deal when I was a practicum student with little knowledge about substance abuse. It provides an extensive glossary/dictionary of both medical and slang terms for thousands of entries. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who would like to develop thier understanding of substance abuse.

I loved this book and had to get a copy for my own children as they set up their first aqarium. Basics and also rare insights! Sylvan Cohen is one of my favorite aquarium experts to trust!

We were able to put together a complex system based on the essentials that are timeless, as presented in the book.

I am not a cookbook maven but I do like to eat, and know what I like. My wife yesterday made one of the recipes in this book and it was truly delicious.
What struck me first of all however about the book was how beautiful it looks, its illustrations. This is too no simple or regular cookbook but is focused on health and it is especially directed to those who have problems with managing their weight, and their blood - sugar. There is a careful assessing of the carbohydrates in each recipe, and alternatives presented in low- and even lower- carb recipes.
It seems to me that anyone interested in cooking and eating both healthy and kosher food would do well to have this book in their kitchen.

I have owned this book since the early 90's and have benefitted greatly from its content. I found the application for a trademark inside and used it to successfully obtain my first trademark. I am purchasing a copy for my 13 year old nephew who has just opened an on-line clothing store. He too will use the trademark section to protect his product name and learn basic business principles.

This book requires true open-mindedness and personal questioning. If one ponders with reasonable sincerity about the growing poverty and the increasing gap between the rich and the poor, considering solutions - as opposed to socio-economic band-aids, perhaps this approach might be taken more seriously... albeit impractical for the capitalist societies. It should be more broadly read and debated to stimulate true solution thinking, perhaps with a different editorail approach for the pragmatic mindsets.
